Dancin I don't know why Frugal said to buy 3. I did mine in groups of 2-6. My 1st trans i bought 4 using 2 MC's and got an ECB for $8. My last trans I bought 6 at once but only got $6 in ECB's because I only needed 3 to get my final 3 for the limit. Also my MC's were $1/2 so I would have done it in 2s anyway, but my receipt said buy 1 get $2 but it wasn't marked on the shelf in any store I went into. I didn't have any ECB's lest after getting Christmas presents for my kids but this is the only shampoo that DH can use so I didn't mind using my GC's to get such a screaming deal. I didn't absolutely need but really wanted the brushes and GN eye roller. So this just hopefully helped me get the $5 buety ECB and really after the cost of the milk and eggs everything still only cost me maybe $2.00 OOP for everything else. For me that is a great deal! ETA Dancin there are some H&S 14.2 ounce, ocean lift or extra volume, that were on 75% clearance for $1.57. The stores had the same things marked different percents off so if you have more than one CVS it might pay you to only get the 75% off ones and go to the next one for the others. I would also buy in odd numbers if the store only has say 3 of the $1.57 ones I would get the third.

Rite Aid: Is anyone doing the Buy & Save deal next week? I saw Frugal Suz's post about the giftcard deal, but can you use one of those VISA giftcards at a grocery store to buy other giftcards? And is the activation fee the same whether you buy a $50.00 or a $100.00 VISA card? It's actually a different promotion than the Buy & Save. It's Resolution Rewards. And it goes for almost the entire month of January. Here are the products you can buy that count towards it: docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B8LmLOKTJW9iZGRjZWYzMzktOTc2OC00YmYwLWIwZDMtNjg3OWMxY2M2YTE3&hl=en_USOn your question about the Vanilla Visa, I don't know the answer as to whether you can buy other giftcards with it. I've never tried that. And I don't know if the activation price is the same for the $50 or $100 card. P.S. If you've got some great scheme cooked up, in terms of buying other gc's, I'd love to hear it! Quoting myself here, because someone just posted on SD with some info on the Vanilla Visa gcs: The activation fee for a Vanilla Visa gift card depends on the type you buy:
a card that lets you put on a variable amount $20 to $500. the activation fee is $4.95
a card that has a set amount on the face of the card, the activation fee is $5.95.
I wonder if both of the above two types would count for Resolution Rewards? If so the variable amount card would be the way to go so you could make an extra dollar off the deal. In the pdf it just says Vanilla Visa Gift Cards, but doesn't mention anything more than that. This deal stands to be a $15.05 MM with the variable amount card. Not too often we can have such an easy instant $15.05 MM.

Yay, another $3 off 2 Pantene coupon is coming! I've found a couple stores that have Pantene on 75% clearance so with the $3 off 2 coupon, it comes out to be pretty darn cheap. I only got one of the 11/27 P&G inserts that had this coupon, so I'm really excited to see this coming out this weekend. dancinmama - weren't you just talking about how its been hard to get free shampoo this year? I think the couponing gods must have heard you! constanz - I think it was you that mentioned the cheap flannel sheets at Target. Thanks for the tip! I went there on my lunch and they only had twin and king, but I'm going to try another store later. I was in the market for flannel sheets anyway, so if I can find some, that would be great!

A $15.00 profit is a pretty good way to start out the year. I don't usually buy $100.00 in groceries at one time and isn't it a pain if you don't spend these giftcards all at once? As you can tell, I'm not really familiar with using these things.

That's very good to know! I'll update my blog with that info.

I am sorry my post came out as dissing you. i really appreciate you blog and the info it gives me! I am way to much of a slacker to read a site like SD's and pan for gold.

There is only one in my town; the next one is 17 miles away so not worth the time and gas no matter how many of them they have and/or they are 75% off. I did go in and buy the (4) they had on the shelf as DS has depleted my stockpile of H&S. Even though I had to spend more in EBs than those who got it at 75% off, I paid less than $1 in OOP for the (4) bottles which I needed, got some clearanced Christmas candy for $.50 as a filler (to make the denominations of my EBs work), and roll some EBs that needed to be used anyway, so I'm happy with that. As I looked at the shelf, I said to myself, "Self, no wonder people are broke. Who the hell pays $6.29 for 14.2 oz. of Head & Shoulders?" Geez, I got beef tenderloin for less than that per pound this week!! The prices these days are just blowing my mind.

That's what the GC is all about - networking about what's out there and what works and what doesn't. frugalsuz: Thanks so much for the post on your blog about this deal. My store only had (4) at 50% off so I really wanted to be able to use my $1/2 H&S MCs if at all possible. I'm going to be looking for that Pantene the next time I go in. I'm sure it's only 50% off right now as well. Maybe it will go down further in the next couple of days.

I don't know if anyone has posted this, but the Starkbucks stores at Target have their Christmas Blend of coffee on sale for 1/2 price. It may not be marked..I got some yesterday and it wasn't scanning, but the cashier told me she had to do it manually. I got some bags of whole bean for $7.50 per bag. There are also Starbucks coupons out there, but I didn't have them...had to decide between my kids and my coupons, and since hubby is at work this week, I had to take the kids. We have enough coffee to last a few days/weeks/months. I think I bought 5 or 6 bags of it, plus one Dark Espresso Roast that was also 1/2 off. Clippin with Carie (a local St. Louis blog) has a deal posted, too, about the Starbucks stores, with the Christmas Blend being BOGO. (works out to be the same as the Target..) Anyway, you can read about it here. www.savingmoneyinmissouri.com/ She also has some other deals listed about cheap pet food treats...

Another heads up - GDA Best Buy. I returned a couple of Christmas gift movies. The ones I bought instead scanned at 50% off even though they weren't marked that way. So we went back and bought more. The BF bought me Season 3 of Dexter (I had gotten him all 5) and a Beauty and the Beast (I already had). We were able to get in return 2 seasons of Oz and 2 seasons of Six Feet Under for the same price. So if anyone received movies and hasn't opened them, you may want to return and re-buy if you have receipts. I say if you have receipts because I'm not sure if they just scan them for return they may scan at now lower price.

Buying giftcards will double my fuel points. For example, spending $100.00 on gasoline giftcards will earn me 200 fuel points or $.20 off a gallon. Last month they had quadruple points and I earned 1000 pts. which will give me a $1.00 a gallon discount at the pumps. Since they sell giftcards to the gas station I go to, it's a good deal for me to stop in and buy some. They do this promotion a few times a year.

Well, I only did so-so on the Head and Shoulders. Store 1 had one, store 2 had none, store 3 had none, store 4 had 4 but I only bought 3 cuz I didn't wanna have to pay any OOP. should've grabbed that last one cuz store 5 had none, but was all the way across town by then and not going back near store 4. The store that had them in stock had NO clearance signs up AT ALL in the shampoo aisle. AMAZING...some of the other stores did have the shelf marked 50 or 75% and were OOS.

It obviously has worked for you, so it's a good thing. If I had that many stores, I still wouldn't hesitate to have them all programmed into my phone so that I could call and have them do a stock check for me - just to save time and gas.

Did you scan the Pantene? It was tagged as 50% off at one store and 25% in another, but was 75% off when I scanned them. Frugalsuz has a great deal on her blog on Head and Shoulders. 2 varieties are ringing up 75% off AND giving a $2 EB, limit 3. There are also $1/2 MC's. for the H&S, constanz. DS and DH use .this now, and for an end cost of $ 1.16/2 (x3), I am ;D. I would never have known but for your post.

Thanks for the heads-up on the H&S deal!! I ran out to use our cards to get some EBs going again, and DH needed the Zyrtec. I bought 2, 3, and 4 in different transactions, but only got $6 EB on my transaction with 4 bottles. I ended up with 16 bottles!! I gave some to a friend that I went to hang out with this afternoon, and the rest will go in my liquid soap box (or DH's shampoo pile). And now I have my EBs started up again, just in time for the great detergent deal!!!

I guess I will hit some of them on the way home. I called closest one yesterday and they said no Pantene was on clearance. But on the blogs I'm seeing some stores have 25-50% off signs and they're ringing at 75%. Maybe my store just didn't put signage.

Blues - a lot of my stores didn't have signs out, and the ones that were out were wrong except for one store (I stopped by 6 today). They all scanned at 75% though, so make sure to check just in case. At least in most of our stores, the scanner is right there in the shampoo aisle anyway Baby girl was a trooper to go to that many stores today. First time out "hounding" with her in tow. I would give her a bottle of shampoo to play with while we waited to check out, and that seemed to keep her pretty happy

Wonder if I should even try to go get some Head and Shoulders? By the time I get off work, I'm sure the shelves will be cleared. I will call the store before I go.

You may want to join Slickdeals & post your question on the Kroger thread. Or search to see if anyone has written up something about that.

A lot of times, if they have the item(s) I'm looking for, they will ask me if I would like them to hold it for me. ;D

I guess I will hit some of them on the way home. I called closest one yesterday and they said no Pantene was on clearance. But on the blogs I'm seeing some stores have 25-50% off signs and they're ringing at 75%. Maybe my store just didn't put signage. That being the case: CVS PANTENE HOUND ALERT: If you find any Pantene clearanced at CVS please post with type/size and even UPC if possible. TIA ;D

TIA ;D I posted earlier this week about finding the Pantene ringing up 75% even though the shelf said it was 50% at one store and 25% at another. I responded to your post saying they weren't on sale at your store to make sure you scan them. The ones I found 75% off were the "beautiful lengths" shampoo and conditioner in the tube, the "highlighting expressions" shampoo, small round bottle, 2 in 1 dry to moisturized, large 25.4 oz, and dry to moisturized shampoo, 24.5 oz. There were others, but these are what I bought. Just go in and start scanning...LOL!

I'm still reading!!!!! They only thing I got right was WAG's, and I think I mentioned this that I always forget to give DH the card when he picks thing up there and I can see like 5 walgreens items around me right now. I got the card because my insurance won't let me do 90 of RX so the RP say's that it could save me some money that way but also get points??? or something if I buy walgreens product, shoot I have no idea have to get the paperwork to actually see what this card is supposed to do for me, can I go online too and check my points or cash somewhere?

Oh and I also kept the Food Lion and Winn Dixie flyers in the mail to check, still really got to know real prices on what I pay at walmart to know if the BOGO or whatever is good.
