I went out to wash my car and get signed up for phone service, this afternoon/evening, then stopped for gas and groceries.

I couldn't find the car wash and no one was at the store to help me with my phone.

Time to bring groceries inside.
(I bought Reese's p-butter cups, for Halloween. I wonder if I'll get any trick or treaters?

I bought a bag of Hershey Kisses at Costco. They were not intended for Halloween. And that's good, because I doubt there will be any left by then.

This will be my 16 th Halloween at this house. 

I have had one Trick or Treater.  He got half the bag of candy and was so excited.

There are all kinds of kids here.

In the early years, there were no sidewalks or street lights.

Now we have no street lights, but we do have sidewalks.  Still no kids, so I no longer turn on the light.

I think we are finally over the extended summer heat. Cooling into the 70s this weekend and through next week but no moisture in sight. We have been completely dry for about a month now. We do need some rain.

WTF is wrong with people? I went for my monthly trip to Costco yesterday and yep they were out of toilet paper. TP is made in the US! It is not shipped from overseas.

Short week for me next week! WooHoo!

Good question! As long as I don't open the bag, it will be fine.
If I open the bag, for even one, it will be all over!
If they were Smarties, forget it! Luckily, I didn't see the Smarties. 😉

It seems so crazy to me, that since my heart attacks in January, my desire for sweets has plummeted. Don't get me wrong, I still eat and enjoy them. Just not to the degree I did prior to my heart attacks.

So far, the Reese's don't even sound good. But I know myself well enough to know, not to even get started.

I'm glad Halloween is only a few weeks away.

I struggled back when Covid started, because of the lack of TP access. Luckily, DD2 was able to get some, so I bought a pkg from her, when I ran out.

I heard Proctor and Gamble are in UT, but that didn't make it any easier to find TP.

People are weird! 🙄

Yes but the difference is that in the pandemic everything was shut down so nothing was being produced. The dockworkers short strike only affected items that are shipped from overseas.

I am back, peeps!!!! Internet, phone, TV bailed on us due to power outage elsewhere, but we are back.

Terrible destruction elsewhere. The damage is unreal. We are cleaned up and hugely grateful.

Good Evening Kids!  We came back home a day earlier than planned, because DS got sick & we thought we'd better not take any chances.  I think he'll be ok now that he can rest up at home.


Something weird happened as we were traveling around:  ever been to a name-brand fast food place, and they're out of a number of things on their menu?  I don't know if it was a supply chain issue, or poor planning on their part.  We were at Wendy's (which was the only food place near the hotel we were staying at).  We were in a major city, and decided since we didn't know this city well, that we'd stop at the first place we were familiar with.  This Wendy's was completely out of French fries and also didn't have a single Frosty.  How strange is that?

That is weird, because usually they can get some of whatever it is, from another store, in the area.
It happened a few times when I worked in fast food. But never for more than a few minutes.

Definitely poor planning on their part, at the very least.

Ran this morning, fixed French toast and headed out to get mulch to finish making the front yard look better in time for Halloween. 

Put out my decorations. Dishwasher is running and laundry will be next. I cleaned the bathrooms and made DH's lunches for the week.

 I have a pork loin defrosting and will marinate it for roasting with a very large sweet potato for dinner.

I made tuna casserole again, today. (With Campbell's soup)
It's easy and I enjoy it.

It's also DGD2s favorite. 😊
But she doesn't like peas in it.

 Mom was a great cook and baker.  The problem was she didn't teach my sister or I how to cook when we were young.

We were both leaving for good the same summer.  She had us write recipes as she made our favorites dishes.  Those are the only ones I ever tried to make.  Of course, she put a pinch of this, etc. so there was some trial and error to get the correct taste.

Good Evening Kids!  I always thought my Mom was an excellent cook too.  By the time I was at the stage in life where I was asking questions, she could no longer remember accurately some of her recipes.  I STILL need a good pie crust recipe.  Sadly, she always considered herself to be an average cook.  But boy, could that woman bake!


I ran some errands today.  We needed some fresh produce in the house.  I still need to buy more tomorrow, but I've got enough now for a decent meal or two.

Good Morning Kids!  There is frost on the roofs of my neighbor's houses.  Yes, it got THAT cold overnight.  Time to bring out the flannel and the hot chocolate.

It was 35 degrees when I woke up.  Had to put on a spring jacket to take the trash out.  I couldn't make myself wear the winter coat.  

Heat kicked in for the first time this season.

I closed my balcony door before bed, last night, to keep the chill out. I opened it again this morning, for the fresh air. It's chilly!
I enjoyed the summer weather more.

I woke up to my heart not beating correctly, in the night (Afib).
Ugh.
I'm not going for another "stress test". Those suck. I hope it doesn't keep happening.

I'm with you, TheOtherMe.  I will layer a sweatshirt with a light jacket before I'll dig out my Winter jacket, even though I probably should.  I actually needed gloves to put gas in my car yesterday.  I hate the transition into Winter.
