I had pretty much decided against going to see Mom Christmas day and the weatherman really made up my mind.  They were saying to expect snow and freezing rain along the route.  I have to travel I84 and it is known for having some brutal driving conditions in the winter.  There are sections that routinely close down during the winter.  I will call Mom here in a little bit and talk with her.  Right now we are at 23 degrees.

I was awakened by teams pinging my phone.  We really have a good work team, everyone pitches in.

I missed brunch, but I do have drinks and snacks!

Been busy six I went out for a run this morning. Skipped breakfast, but DH did try the coffee cake, which he said was great!

Then we headed out to the green market and gourmet market. Everything busy but tolerable.

All of your food looks great, NancysSummerSip, but I'm having some fresh fruit.  I ate too much yesterday, even though I ate less at the family gathering than I do in a typical year.


I did make it to church this morning, and might attend an evening service later.  It feels like Spring outside, and all of my different varieties of lilac bushes have leaf buds on them.  It's a very strange month.  And, it is 54 degrees right now, which just might be a record.

Bulbs are coming up like last year although I think a deer got an uncovered crocus that hasn't bloomed yet.    Last year was unusually mild, as much as I enjoyed that, I hope it is a touch more seasonal as I don't want another Ida to hit.

I survived the chaos of Christmas eve and am looking forward to the quietness of today.  I'm officially no longer on call so symbolically turned the sound notification off on teams on my phone.

The radio control cars were a hit but I probably should have gotten one for DSIL also   We are under a winter weather advisory for a while today for possible snow and freezing rain.

Good Morning Kids!  Merry Christmas to You & those you love!  We opened our gifts late, but it's all good.  We're rushing around cleaning house once again, as we hope DD & her fiancé will be joining us for dinner tonight.  How is it with 3 people & 2 dogs that our house almost never looks good for long?

busymom it's crazy trying to keep a house clean over the holidays, right? I don't know why that should seem like it's the case, but it is.

I've heard from family and friends yesterday and today, which is nice. We took a walk this morning for a paper, ate a proper breakfast with good coffee. Dinner tonight is a crab cake and half a baked sweet potato for DH; I will eat the other half and probably a salad on the side.

DD1 gave me a jar of moonshine they made, when I saw them last night. DELICIOUS!
When I was driving home, around 11:30PM, I went by a police officer, who had someone pulled over on the freeway. He had them out of their car and was holding them down on the ground, next to their car. Yikes! Waiting for backup, I assume. He was kneeling on them. I was glad it wasn't me, or someone I know. Cold, wet, asphalt doesn't sound comfy. It sounds foolish!

Orange juice is the main flavor.
I wanted to drink the whole jar, last night! But I had to drive home and I knocked my driving glasses down and couldn't find them, so driving in the dark was a bit scarier, than normal. I decided to wait and drink it at home. SOOOOO GOOD! 😊

Nap #1 was 2 1/2 hours and nap #2 was 3 hours.  These weren't naps in the chair or on the couch.  I full on crawled back into bed and had a good sleep.  It has definitely been needed.

I took a long nap this afternoon before DD & her fiancé arrived for dinner.  I didn't really fall asleep, as the dogs were restless today, but man, I haven't rested like that in a long time.  It was much needed.


Dinner was good, but we skipped a dish or two.  We definitely had more than enough food.  In fact, we've got enough leftovers to last for days.  A lot of the ham is going back into the freezer, to help with quick dinners in the future.

Good Morning Kids!  Yes, I slept in again this morning.  After so much crazy, I need to catch up on some sleep.


The only thing I have scheduled this week now is an inspector is coming out to check the duct work that was completed recently.

I also slept in.  Not last night, but the past few nights I had been waking up about 4 AM and not going back to sleep.

I got some much needed cleaning down around the house today.  The house was so neglected this past month because of working that it was awful.  There is still a lot to be done but the bathrooms got a very deep clean today so life seems better.

I got my first mug of tea down and will start another in a bit.

Still working on the house but the guest room is ready and the guest bath is clean. 

Time to put something on for me to listen to and get back to picking up and tidying.

Hi Kids!  It's been a bit of a rough day, which makes me wonder if today is my "Monday".      Had really bad insomnia last night, which is crazy because, although I did sleep in yesterday, there was no nap, plus I got to bed late.  I need to be able to sleep tonight, because the inspector arrives tomorrow morning.


Poor DS had a seizure today.  He'd gone for quite a long stretch without having one.  Right now he's having a nap, because seizures are exhausting.  


The weather is dark & gloomy.  I saw a couple of snowflakes, but it's not snowing, at least not technically.

So, DS was resting, and since it's cold outside, and I'm stuck at home at this point, and I decided to do some treadmill walking.  I noticed some smoke around one of the neighbor's houses behind ours, and as I was exercising I noticed the smoke kept going and going.  I'd just been seeing on the news about those battery fires, and this family has small kids, so I threw on my coat to go check & make sure things are ok, and both the husband & wife are sitting on lawn chairs in the front yard, burning some leaves.  Normally people around here do that in the backyard, but I was relieved.  The smoke was coming from near their garage door.  The other thought I had was, there are a lot of suicides around the holidays, and I prayed that someone wasn't in the garage with their car running.  So, all is well.  But whew!  I had my cell phone in my pocket in case I needed to call the fire department.  Never say never...

Seizures must be exhausting for you, as well as him.

That was nice of you, to be concerned and check on them.
Like a good neighbor, busy mom is there! Fires can be very scary.
