Peeps, it's been a bad day. My boss has been stealing from my paycheck. I found out today. I had cancelled my employer insurance as of April 1(did so in writing and by Zoom call to our insurance rep) because I went on Medicare. He kept taking out the money. His personal bills were ridiculous (fueled by a very expensive divorce/child custody battle, and now a new, younger GF) but I never thought he'd go this low. I called him and reamed him a new one. I also called an attorney and the Department of Labor, so I know what to do next, if this is not rectified in the time frame I have insisted on. I am beyond raging mad. The amount is just over $4,000. ETA: I have all the pay checks showing what was deducted and the trail proving I cancelled the insurance. 'Cause I know some of you want those details.

Nancy, I would also be beyond angry. I hope your boss decides to do the right thing. Yes, I am a retired auditor and I need receipts.

Smart move because he can cut off access. Of course. So I made a fast first move. I really just want the money back with no issues, but I am prepared to fight if I need to.

It's your money. Of course you want it back and you should get it back. He stole it from your pay check.

That's horrible! I'm glad you're getting him stopped, at least stopped, as far as you go. I had a slumlord who refused to pay me, after I slipped on his property and ruptured an implant. He tried to say I didn't get hurt. He didn't have property insurance. I moved out and he still gave me grief. I finally said we'll see what gets here first, you with my money, or the check. I'm done. And I hung upon on him. I refused to answer my phone for him, after that. He took the check to my boyfriend. I took it directly to his bank. Some people are jerks.

Good Grief NancysSummerSip! That's worthy of the Flor-i-duh thread, if it hadn't happened to you. I wonder how much jail time he could get for doing that? I went out & did some shopping tonight after DH got home from work, and was surprised to find Butter Rum Lifesavers, so of course I had to buy some.

Thanks for all the support, peeps. Makes me feel like I am not alone in all of this. Weather is cloudy, rainy and miserable for at least all of today and into tonight. I do have a race tomorrow. It is still on (it is south of here, so the weather will clear to the south first).

I hope you come away, feeling like a billionaire, when this is all said and done! Maybe more, after you count inflation and the interest he owes you. If chances are taken (like a raffle), I hope I get to punch him a few times, at least. But I don't want to make a mess of myself. After all, you never know who I'll meet later, when you we're done taking out the trash.

I haven't checked my mail in over 2 weeks, maybe 3. I need to do that. And pick up some groceries and scripts tomorrow. For sure.
All but a few bits of my laundry are done and my apt is clean, so I'm ready for my inspection, on Tuesday, or Thursday. I wish they'd tell us which day it's going to happen on. The anxiety of not knowing, makes me unnecessarily crazy.
I think I'll bring up the lack of water pressure, in the building, while the inspector is here and see if it does any good. I only have (barely) shoulder length hair and I have trouble rinsing it, due to lack of pressure.
Yet, in the summer, there's plenty of pressure to let the water run off the sidewalk and down the drain. So annoying. And things just keep getting worse, instead of better, over the years.
Why are all landlords, slumlords? I wish they had some pride in their properties.
The maintenance supervisor promised me that the outside lights would be replaced, on the building's, before I got home from my daughter's. It didn't happen, of course. Now there's a surprise!
I'd really like to find a new place to live. I've wanted to, for years (at least 15). I wouldn't mind staying here, if they'd keep it up. But they don't. They don't enforce the rules, they just bitch. Why would someone want to live in a place like that? I wonder if they're going to raise my rent again? We don't have a BBQ, or a picnic table any more, because a drunk tenant smashed into them. Why aren't they paying for it? Not me? I haven't used the pool, or the picnic table/BBQ in about 8 years, or more, I would guess.
Ah well, life goes on. Not always how we'd like it to.
We'll see.

TMR, find out from the head office what the inspection is for. In my experience here in CNJ, is that those inspections are determined by the state or the county. It is usually because some new law has been passed and they are checking for compliance. One year it was new fire regulations. I think all basement storage areas were checked but only a sampling of the apartments. Still, once I understood what would be looked at, I broke down boxes in the basement and tried to make everything a foot or more away from the ceiling. Wasn't entirely successful inside because just too much stuff from former lives. But I did make sure my area of the basement was in order.

Also put in work orders now for water pressure etc. You are most likely to get things fixed before an inspection because they do not like residents airing grievances to state or county officials. I have to do the resident portal thing and one piece that is good is putting in work orders for your place. It is recorded and tracked, and sometimes I can pick a few choices for when they can come to do the work.

I have to do the resident portal thing and one piece that is good is putting in work orders for your place. It is recorded and tracked, and sometimes I can pick a few choices for when they can come to do the work. I have requested the water pressure be checked and adjusted many times, since a repair had to be made, last early spring. They told me a few times they were going to, or that they were going to have a plumber come do it. Then, they said, people quit complaining about it, so nothing would be done. That doesn't work for me. I used to be able to hang up rugs and or mats in my shower. I'd spray them with carpet cleaner well, then put my handheld showerhead on full power and clean them very well. It hurt my skin if I accidentally sprayed it, even just momentarily. Like a car wash would. Now, that's the pressure setting I use to rinse! They won't like me bringing things up, like that. But just like when they parked in front of my garage, they'll learn, not to F with me. Or they will evict me. But considering I have never once been late on my rent, in 20 years, or had a complaint against me, by another tenant, they would be foolish to do so. I am not and never have been a trouble maker. Although at some point, I get tired of them walking on me. And there's no doubt about that. This inspection is for a full apt inspection and to change air/furnace filters and smoke detector batteries. Fire extinguishers. Because I have cathedral ceilings, I can't get high enough, to reach my smoke detector, even with my ladder. If they dare give me crap for anything, there's a boatload of people who will be in a LOT worse trouble than I will be. Although I don't want to be on their sh t list, either. And I know plenty about stuff they do, as well. I'd rather not bring that stuff up. Everyone is getting inspected, this time. Although some will get more stringent inspections than others. I have used their upcoming inspections, to get repairs made, when need be, in the past. Outdoor lighting is an important repair, for safety reasons. Hopefully, things will go well. I'd rather not have issues, days before Christmas. But I won't care, on Christmas day, because mine will be over by then. It's possible they will skip my apt, due to illness. Thanks for the suggestions.

Good Morning Kids! It is cloudy & gloomy here once again, but there is so much moisture in the air that my joints hurt. I actually wore tennis shoes to church, as heels would be very painful.
I need to start wrapping some gifts. Most likely I'll write a few cards too. But, I'm thinking quite a few will be getting mailed late this year.

Peeps! Better late than never! I had a great day, though it was not according to plan. But sometimes, those are the kind you need. Had a very good race (finished 8th out of 21 in a 55+ category (dropped about 20 seconds from my last asphalt time, in new shoes). Planned a trip to the kosher supermarket -- OMG, the parking lot was a zoo! (it's closed Saturdays and the weather here has been miserable for days, so I guess folks were out and about). We are getting a branch up here, so I can wait. Texted a friend and he and his daughter met me for breakfast. It was exactly the uplift I needed.

Ok, I actually got all of the presents wrapped. I just need to slip a couple of gift cards in with a Christmas card, and that'll be done. I'm going through my grocery list, and realizing I'm still going to have to get several items for cooking & baking. I need to inventory the stocking stuffers I've bought, to see what else I need. I'm not going near any stores until probably early tomorrow morning. Weekends are just too hectic so close to the holidays.

I planned next week's dinners (I had to pre-order my seafood from my fish store, as they are only open a few hours Sunday) -- I am getting shrimp for DH, scallops for me and some lump crab for crab cakes for him, too. I can make and freeze the crab cakes and freeze the shrimp, but those scallops are all mine, mine, mine.

I made delicious Spanish rice with beans and cheese, for lunch. So good! I wanted to go out to breakfast, early this morning. But didn't have anyone to go with me. I've been inside for so long, I may never go back out! (I wish.) I bought the girls some new Christmas books. One of them plays music. Their parents ought to be thrilled. Haha! 🤣 I donated some scarves and gloves to the homeless shelter, today. I washed them last night, so they would be fresh. That ought to last about 5 seconds, before they're filthy. LOL At least they'll have some.
