I just got my test results, from the drug screen test I took yesterday. Just as I knew it would, everything came back negative, except benzodiazepines, because I take Xanax. Woo hoo!

Good Morning Kids! The weather is sunny, but weird. The air outside is barely moving. If there was rain in the forecast, I'd say this was tornado weather. I guess I'd better check & see what neighboring states are expecting.

Wish me luck for today. I was glad to see DD leave yesterday and take the kids with her. They were tired so they were extra loud and then one or another of them was having a meltdown every couple of minutes. On Wednesday night I guess they did some front yard camping and slept in the tent. Which was wonderful fun but they were up late so extra tired. We are mostly set up but it just reached a point where everyone was so hot and dirty that DD and I agreed that a swim was needed. This swim did help as everyone got cooled off. We had some dinner which the kids hardly ate. They just wanted watermelon but Mom said they had eaten enough fruit and needed to each a few bites of enchilada also. Five of us ate half a 14lb watermelon yesterday, plus the kids had also had some cantaloupe. My co-worker had some issues with jobs last night so I was up until 10pm helping him last night. That means Grandma is tired today and will have less patience to deal with the kids today. I'm hoping that when the two littlest ones go down for morning naps that the two olders will go in the backyard and play. DD is also going to bring the two dogs over today due to the heat.
Good luck in all you do today. How long has your DD lived in the area? Have they never had a/c? Yikes! DD and family moved over here a little over two years ago and then I followed not quite a year later. The kids just wanted to sleep in the tent because they thought it would be fun. They were telling me all about the stars and the planets. They do have AC but DD uses it very sparingly. She is incredibly frugal, which is good because it allows her to stay home with the kids. DGD2 wasn't buying into napping in the pack n play, not one bit. Finally in the afternoon DD brought her into the house and put her in the bassinet. The combination of being so tired she didn't know which way was up, the house being much cooler and quieter than the garage and she crashed.
I finally had to take some aspirin after lunch. It was too hot, DGD2's crying and DGS2 only has one voice, very loud, my head was pounding. We shut the sale down at 2pm and got into the pool, which felt very good. The garage sale itself was a total bust, so far we have made $18, hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Gracious and good Friday to the peeps. Sharon, I think you need a very long weekend, in a place populated only by you. It sounds like you've been on grandma and worker duty too much this week. I have family in town, and will see them for lunch tomorrow. In spite of their wishes, I am skipping their loud, expensive dinner and brunch choices this weekend. I do have swim practice, so I will earn my NY-style deli delights for sure. I've never been to this place, but the reviews are great so we will give it a try. I got the back lawn mowed and the front hedges trimmed. The house across the street is for sale (the owner passed away). The open house is Sunday, so we want our property to look tidy. Can't let a neighborhood newbie think they have trolls living across the street, right? They may hate me for leaving the house for swim practice at 4:15 am, but they won't be able to complain about our tidy home.

Good Morning Kids! Sharon, you are a really good grandma! And NancysSummerSip, you are a very considerate neighbor. I think some people in our community got too much into "no mow May". It was supposedly to help the bees. There are too many people who STILL aren't mowing their lawns, and we're looking pretty tacky as a community right now. DH is working so many hours this year that he doesn't always get the edging done, etc, but at least our lawn gets regularly mowed.

We having nothing to mow except to cut the tops of the weeds. Even they aren't growing much.
I can't tell if there is smoke in the air again or if the clouds are permanently going to look that way.

Ours is back down to moderate. Could people be waiting on mowing until its safer to be out there for awhile?

Ours is back down to moderate. Could people be waiting on mowing until its safer to be out there for awhile? That is a possibility, that people are scared to be breathing in the bad air. Our air quality now is considered "better", but it still smells like a close neighbor is having a bonfire. So, I'm still not exercising outside. Another problem is, and I hesitate to mention this, because it sounds bad, but several of the neighbors who haven't been mowing their lawn are Muslim. So, I'm not sure what the issue is there. I know they have some religious holidays this time of the year, so maybe that's it, but I just don't know. I'm surprised the city isn't more involved in making people follow the rules. Oh well, I just live here...

I am back, peeps. Kids were fun, lunch was excellent, but it was a long drive. I am waiting for the clouds to move over and I will work outside. Way too hot right now.

Another hot one today but the garage sale is done and mostly cleaned up. I need to write down everything I plan on donating and then get it to Goodwill. We did to a little better today and ended up with a final tally of $121. DD did cut one lady a deal on a bunch of clothes and toys. Her 6 month old granddaughter suddenly came to live with them full time a couple weeks ago. She has no clothes or toys

I'm sorry you didn't do better with so much work into a garage sale, Sharon, but at least you got some customers. I've done several garage sales, and the best ones were when we had large child items to "rehome". For example, we had a kiddie-sized picnic table, and a few other large items that seemed to be in demand. I've been spending most of the day going through items, and cleaning house. We've needed to do another purge. I was teasing DH that you'd think we were moving, or something.

I had a much needed very good nights sleep. I'm still tired but not the bone dead tired I was. Today's plan is to give the inside of the house some much needed TLC and cleaning. DD has said she plans on staying home all day and doing things around her house which is fine with me. I need to catch up around here.

My niece gave up having garage sales when she no longer had kid stuff to sell. She said it was too much work for the results. They now sell the occasional item on FB Marketplace.
My neighbor in Boulder used to do garage sales. She would let me bring over items to sell. I would usually take over maybe 5 items. They were larger things I no longer used and they always sold. I know she didn't like that.
I either sell or give away items occasionally on FB marketplace. The problem I have is that no one wants to drive out here and I am not delivering. I don't have a vehicle that can handle large items so I don't deliver for a fee. I think the people that add that to their ads are smart.

And it is hot as heck out there. I did run this morning, but it was not a long one. And since I was already sweaty, and the west side of the house was still in the shade, I trimmed those hedges.
I plan on staying out of the way of the open house across the street.
I tidied the bathrooms and will do a load of laundry later. I made a pitcher of iced tea, and will kill anyone who tries to share it. Seriously, it is a total iced tea kind of day.

Good Afternoon Kids! I'd gotten a lot of blueberries on sale, without a real idea of what I would use them for. DH had a great idea, and he worked on it while I was sorting through paperwork this afternoon: Blueberry Crisp (similar to apple crisp, with the brown sugar, oatmeal & all...). Yum!

Another hot one today, but I did get the lawn mowed, even the stuff that needed the push mower. Right now I'm just trying cool off and rehydrate.

I'm so hot today. Ugh. And I'm tired of listening to my neighbor bang on his stinking drums! I can't carry a beat and neither can he. He's awful!

Good Evening Kids! The rain just missed us once again. We're definitely tired of watering, and I don't even want to think about what our next quarterly water bill might be...
We're doing prep work today for the 4th of July. I've already baked a batch of cookies, and one pie. Hope that'll be enough for sweets, since we usually overeat as it is.

We had a thunderstorm alert come on the tv at about 5:45pm. Within 5 in less than 5 mins, a major thunderstorm hit. It lasted about 20 minutes, then instantly stopped, just like it started. At least it got the neighbor to stop beating his drums for a minute. I don't advocate stealing, but I sure wish someone would take those darn drums from his patio. He's such an entitled a$$.

Hi Everyone! I went to the Oregon Redwoods week before last and back home just beat. I put over 1K miles on my car in 3 days! Over 16 + hours in the car just going down and back up. GPS ended sending me up the side of a mountain in CA over 20 miles up and there was no hiking trail or trailhead parking! It told me I had to walk to get to the trailhead, and it went out due to no service. Going up I surprised either 1 or 2 juvenile black bears in the process. So thankful I was in the car with the windows up. I turned around and headed back into OR where there were signs on the road pointing in the right direction. Still ended up by passing the turn due to how the signage was placed and was able to stop a neighbor and get actual directions. On the walk I kept hearing stuff and was attempting to not wind myself up but what was running through my mind was " is that bigfoot moving around?!?" I also ended up taking a chunk out of my left big toe at the beach due to rocks under the sand. It was a eventful and fun driving trip. I would have loved to be able to stop and get some photos because the views were just gorgeous. My plan is to go back to the beach area I am looking to buy in and look at houses after the 4th. Probably late this week or early next. Take care!

I have to admit even with the occasional "hiccup", I love a good road trip.

That followed him no matter where he went, that he couldn't see or figure out where it was coming from, or how to turn it off. But I think opera would be a better choice. Or even really bad drums, for several hours straight. Don't I wish! 🤣
