Happy Friday Muffins!!!
It was not a very enjoyable birthday last weekend. My next door neighbors erected a bouncy house in their front yard so I got to listen to that motor and screaming kids all day Saturday. UGH!
I am sorry some of you are going through the extreme heat and drought. We are still very pleasant here and have had more rain in the last two months than I can ever remember for this time of year. I have only had to use my sprinklers once last month. We did hit 90 one day this week. That is the first 90 we have had this season which is unusual. We are now in the mid 80s for the next week and no more rain in the forecast. There was a severe storm that hit Wednesday night causing flash flooding and in some areas golf ball size hail. I didn't sleep at all. There was a concert suppose to happen at Red Rocks but the storm hit just before and about 100 people were hurt by the huge hail.
Have a Fantastic Weekend all!!!

I'm sorry I missed your birthday, Icelandic Woman. Here's a Summer-themed birthday cake that I hope will make up for it. Belated Happy Birthday!

Happy belated birthday, Icelandic Woman. And that is some cake Busy made for you. I don't know how she does it. And FWIW, my neighbors ruined my birthday this year too. They made up for it by leaving for a month. Unfortunately, they are back in town.

Just my vent:
Ugh. I am so annoyed! DD2 lives 45 minutes from me, one way. I am constantly having to drive at least that far, or farther, to see them, or attend anything they plan, or enroll in. Tomorrow, both of my granddaughters start t-ball (not on the same team). In order to watch them both, I will have to get to the field at 8:50AM, and they won't finish until 1PM! Temps in the 90s and no shade.🥵 And you have to take your own chairs, or blanket, to sit on and carry it across the park, or the football field- wherever they play. Along with your own food, drinks and snacks.
On top of that, the information sheet just says they'll be playing at such and such academy. No address or phone number is given. So I looked online, to get the address and there are 2 addresses listed. Both with the same school name. And they're not located by each other.
My crystal ball hasn't been working for some time, so I don't know how I'm supposed to know which address to go to. And I don't know why DD2 didn't clarify this, or include the address on the sheet she sent out, with the schedule. (I hate looking at the schedule for information, because it's written about the size of micro phish.
Just because she knows the information, I suppose she thinks the rest of us can figure it out. UGH!
If she wants/expects us to drive this far every Saturday, and bake in the heat, for 4-5 hours, the least she could do is give us the pertinent information.
I feel bad for my granddaughters, but I don't know how many more of these games I will go to. It's too far away (their parents know that because they haven't come to visit me in at least 15 yrs, but they expect me to drive out there!). And there are no refreshment stands. It's going to be miserable.
With my heart issues, I'll be lucky to carry my camp chair, to sit on. Much less an umbrella, snacks and drinks.
I'm not looking forward to this. But I need to go to the opening game(s), at least.

toomuchreality the lack of needed information would annoy me to no end, just give me the information I need in an easily readable format. Is it possible that you could watch the end of the first game and the beginning of the second game to reduce the amount of time you are in the heat. I need to get busy and get outside, we are going to be in the 90's today and I want to do my outside work before it gets too hot.

When my great niece and nephew were that age and their soccer games were played at a huge facility with no facilities, I was glad I was just the great aunt so I could decline. I did not do that until I attended a few games and it was too hot or raining and no refreshments, seating, etc. except for what you brought yourself.
Also, we had to make a left turn out of the parking lot which took forever. That has now been solved with a light, but it wasn't the case back then.

Good Afternoon Kids! Well, the weathernerds got it wrong once again, and we actually got a good amount of rain late yesterday. When it was done, I went out (so did DH) and we quickly weeded the vegetable garden while the ground was soft (it's easier to pull out weeds). I was very surprised we weren't attacked by mosquitoes, but I guess we weren't outside long enough to attract them.
We might get some big storms later today. We DO need more rain. We can just live without the "storm" part.

Hiya peeps! I got outside twice today to continue the weed annihilation project in the front yard. Almost done. It is about to storm out there, so I came in and showered. toomuchreality I think you will have to draw a line in the hot sand. Your health is not worth the drive and drag to the ball field, toting all your stuff. At the very least, the grands' parents should provide you with a chair, snacks, drinks and some shade. If my parent was coming out to something like this and making that drive, I would consider the ball field like my house and be a hospitable host. Go to the first one, but be honest with them. If they cannot understand why you cannot manage carrying the equivalent weight of your week's groceries to and from an unknown ball field, then they need to offer assistance and understanding. You're not one of the sprinting T-ballers out there, after all. Not that you can't kick ass when you need to. But at this point, in those weather conditions, why should you? You're coming as the loud and proud cheering section, not to wither in the sun and then drive home exhausted.

We have only gotten a few sprinkles. There is a big line of thunderstorms to the east but it doesn't sound like they will make it this far.

When my alarm went off, I was so tired, I couldn't figure out what day it was, so I thought I didn't need to get yet and went black to sleep. I was so tired, I missed both games. But it turned out that DGD2 wouldn't play. So I'm glad I got the sleep I needed. Hopefully, I'll go next Saturday and get to watch them both play. I think DD1 and her wife are having a get together tonight, to go watch fireworks. If they're also going to BBQ or something, I'll go. But I see a LOT of fireworks from my apt, because I live near a minor league baseball field, on the 3rd floor and they do a lot of fireworks, to attract crowds. So if they're just going to the fireworks, I'll probably pass. I'm more interested in the social part of getting together with my kids. I hope you were able to get some work done outside, before it got too hot.

I agree with what you said, but that would never happen, even on a good day. My son in law is the coach and he just had hip replacement surgery a week ago, so he can barely walk, even with crutches. He can't even drive yet. I don't know how he's going to get from the parking lot, to the field. My guess is that he didn't go. Probably DD just took the girls and someone else coached. But I don't know, because I haven't heard back from DD2. It might be time for me to stop attending such things, unless something can be done for my heart. I have an appointment on Monday, at a cardiology clinic, for a halter test(?). Hopefully, I'll know more after that.

Wow. DD2 just told me, her husband DID coach! She said, it was roooough. I've seen him just move from one room to another at home and he has a hard time. I bet he's REALLY miserable now. Ugh.

My day ended up being totally different than what I planned and it was good. I kept procrastinating going outside because I didn't want to work so I texted DD to see if she wanted to go to a little community celebration in the next town over. She said that sounded like fun. It was in a really nice park and they had booths with various vendors etc in one section and a good sized car show in another section and a stage set up for band in between. I'm tempted to go back tonight and watch Quiet Riot and stay for the fireworks but not sure I want to do that by myself. We got hamburgers at the event and found a nice shady place under a tree where we could see the boats on the river. After lunch the two littlest ones had reached critical mass so we loaded everyone up and came back to my house and put the babies down for naps. Then DD and I and the two oldest kids got in the pool for a while. In the mean time DD hears from DSIL and he had gotten off work at 3:00 and had to be back to work at 8:30 tonight. DD decided to just hang around my place for a while longer and then leave from place to go to Saturday evening mass with the kids. That would give DSIL a chance to have some peace and quiet to sleep.

I had a new experience today, as I went to my first bridal shower for a LGBTQ couple. Everyone had a nice time, and the games were fun. The weather actually cooperated, as we were expecting storms, but the rain never arrived, and the sun was shining when we left.

I hope you find out enough to improve your health and give you more strength.

It would be nice to push a shopping cart without breaking out in a sweat and feeling like I'm going to pass out. Like my heart isn't getting enough blood to push through it. Maybe I need another stent? Something is definitely wrong. Finding out what that is, is the hard part.

We got 1.5 inches of glorious rain last night. Ground is so hard, it doesn't look like it did much good for the crops.

I spent 90 minutes weeding this morning. Almost melted out there and it was early. Made breakfast, tidied the bathrooms, ran the dishwasher and a load of laundry. Will wash the floors later. Now just enjoying y'all's company and some iced tea.

Good Afternoon Kids! Brunch looks great, NancysSummerSip! We got a lot of much-needed rain overnight, and we're supposed to be getting more either this afternoon or in the evening. We need it. DD was commenting on how badly a number of lawns looked as we were driving home from church. Some are so yellow, it looks like a wheat field that just got harvested.

Well, so much for finishing the weeding. Rain came around 4 and it is still raining. I did pay some bills and wash/wax the floors, so the weeding will be finished tomorrow.

Good Morning Kids! Yup, it's a Monday & my insomnia was really bad last night. What is this thing called sleep, anyway? We ended up getting a lot of rain yesterday, so there's just a hint of green with our brown/yellow grass. At least the lawn got a good "drink" of water. We'll probably have to continue to water the lawn to help it recover from the drought.

Had my wellness exam. Doctor was surprised no bloodwork was ordered at time appointment was made. That has been ordered. She can't prescribe any maintenance meds until she receives results.

I don't understand the reason for this heart monitor. It's not at all like the previous one I had. This one only monitors for 24 hours. And I have to write down my symptoms and check the appropriate boxes on a list. What if I don't have problems during this period? And how is this different from me describing my symptoms to the doctor(s) directly? Seems like a waste of time to me. But at least I cooperated with the dr's suggested care plan. I'm supposed to return the monitor tomorrow, although she said I can mail it, if I want to. However, when they study the results, the outcome is different if you return it in 24hrs, instead of waiting a week, or longer. That makes no sense to me either.
Then I have an appointment scheduled with my PCP on Thursday. So much fun!
At least I don't have to wait 6mo for an appt, I guess.
Back in February, they over charged me (more than double) for my copay. An investigation was done and I now have a credit on my account. But they're not giving it to me because I have an appt on Thursday. The difference is, in February, the insurance I had, didn't cover my PCP. Since then, I have changed insurance companies/plans, to one that does cover my doctor and there is a zero dollar copay. 🙄
The people working at the front desk there, refuse to listen. They can make appointments, but anything else, you're screwed. Or at least it seems that way to me. Ugh.
