Good Afternoon Kids! I ended up getting sick last night. Don't know if something I ate disagreed with me, or what. But, I feel better today. We're having strange weather. Cloudy, 70-ish & breezy, yet you still feel the humidity moving up. Oh well, we're just on track to continue our weird Summer.

I'm feeling better. But, Medicare might be screwing with my relative soon. I'll give you details when I know more. I'll give you a teaser: if a hospital recommended a course of treatment, and the patient took it, then Medicare won't pay for future travel to get therapy to keep the patient alive, how p*ssed off would you be if that patient was your relative? Our "health care" system is a total hot mess. Right now I'm trying to figure out a "work around" way to make this work. D*mn hospital didn't mention this little problem when the treatment was recommended to me last week. Told me the treatment could be done at the nursing home. WRONG!

I'm sorry. I hope this gets worked out so your family member can get the treatment.
I will say that I have never heard of an insurance plan of any kind that pays for travel to receive treatment and the related costs. That's what a lot of gofundme's are for. All of those unreimburseable expenses.
I know my cousin stayed in hotels in Rochester when her son was waiting for and then had his heart transplant. His wife had to keep working because his job didn't have sick leave and he had used all of his vacation time. Wife went on the weekends and mom stayed during the week. That was all out of pocket. They finally got in to one of the homes for patients and family members for transplant patients. Those are kept very sanitized and there was a routine a family member had to go through to return. She mostly stayed at the house once he had the transplant.

Medicare will apparently pay for short trips from a nursing home, but this would be to a neighboring city. Among other things, I need to find out the cutoff for how many miles they think are "reasonable". I'll do what I can to get him what he needs. The system is SO messed up. Healing someone, only to "allow" them to die. Christian nation my foot!

busymom I hope your relative is able to get the treatment he needs. Today Mom dropped the little bomb that her a-fib is probably back. She says she can feel her heart fluttering. She had an appointment today with the cardiologist. She had two heart ablations done several years ago and that had taken care of that issue. The doctor said they had to get approval from Medicare first before they could fit her with a heart monitor, so she has to go back on the first to probably be fitted with her heart monitor. They seemed to think it would be approved. How crazy is it that they are making an 82 year old women get out in the 100+ degree heat multiple times in a week because they can't just hook her up to the heart monitor while she is there and send her on her way.

Oy, peeps. It is Friday night and as always, good to be with you. I spent my lunch mowing the front lawn and edging, and after dinner I weeded and trimmed hedges. Worked my normal desk job, did laundry and let the oven cook BBQ chicken and roasted potatoes. Retirement from full - time employment is exactly nine months away. 4/28/23 is the date.

Although the heat is killing me, I sure don't want to trade it for winter snow and ice. The cold temps are as miserable as the heat is, plus we have to worry about the slippery roads and falling on the ice.

I don't know what happened, for sure, but the gate to my pool has a notice on it saying, the pool is currently closed and may remain closed, due to vandalism and other things that have taken place at pool recently, that are against the rules.
If I was someone using the pool this summer, I would be SO pissed off! It really upsets me when people don't follow rules. And when they destroy property that doesn't belong to them.
Jerks.

Good Morning Kids! After having practically perfect weather yesterday, today we'll be creeping back towards a heatwave.
If you had seen my kitchen floor yesterday, you would've thought we had a Cottonwood tree INSIDE our house. Speedy was shedding like crazy. I wonder if he senses the heat that'll be here soon?
I've got a lot of things to catch up on at home. I did make it to the hospital for a short visit after dinner last night.

Hello peeps! Watching the repeat of stage 7 of the Tour De France Femmes, since I missed it this morning to go kickboxing (the pool was closed) do a list of errands, including getting a new frame to replace the one that fell off the wall and self-destructed earlier this week.

I'm just cooling down a bit before taking a shower. I did a bunch of mowing this morning. Yesterday was 112 degrees and today and tomorrow are also supposed to hit that before cooling down to 100 on Monday. It is already brutal out there.
After I cooled off and cleaned up I'm going to make a quick trip to the store and then over to DD's to pick up some green beans. I also picked some peaches off my tree this morning.

I'm a bit jealous of your peach tree, Sharon. Speedy must've eaten something he shouldn't have, because he was puking all over the kitchen floor. And, just when I was hoping to get caught up on things around here...

I did not know the Tour De France Femmes existed. When did it start or am I making myself look stupid?

I've noticed for years how little coverage our local newspaper gives to high school girl's sports, so I wish I was surprised by a lack of coverage, but I'm not.

It's been off the schedule for several years, brought back when Zwift (a cycling app) sponsored it and got it going. Women's pro cycling is very big in Europe and there are a lot of races there. It is getting bigger here, and of course, it is part of the Olympics. The advent of mountain and gravel biking is helping to bring a younger crowd into the sport.

I'm dog sitting again. One of my grand dogs is really having mobility issues. Her brain and nervous system aren't connecting properly, so she can't feel her legs under her. It's so sad. She's such a sweet dog.

I am happy to see this, Nancy. Boulder was a big cycling town and was home to several big cycling races back in the day. The Red Zinger turned in to the Coors something. Davis Phinney and his wife Connie Carpenter were locals who biked in those races. Davis rode in the Tour de France. He and Connie were in the first Olympics that had cycling. I think Connie won a gold medal. Davis has Parkinson's now and he isn't that old. It is very intimidating in Boulder to either run or bike because you will encounter Olympic athletes while you are out. Ask me how I know?

She's such a sweet dog. Aw, poor baby! Does she have one of those sets of wheels so she can get around on her own? Nope. It's been getting progressively worse. All four legs. She gets afraid to move, but does much better if the floor isn't slippery. This evening she was standing like a statue, after I let them out. She was afraid to move, so I went out and got her. Another time, her front legs were sliding out from under her and she didn't know what to do. Other times, she walks okay. She has an appointment with a Neurologist on Tuesday. I think she is 16yrs old. I feel so bad for her and for DD1 (dog mom). DD1 doesn't have human children, so pups are her world. She would do anything for them. I hope they can figure out a way to help her.

toomuchreality I hope they are able to find an answer and solution to your granddoggers walking issues. busymom how is your relative doing? Today is kind of overcast and muggy. I was up late last night, at least for me, canning green beans. I'm tired and don't think I will do a whole late today.

Good Afternoon Kids! DD is gone visiting some old college friends this weekend. Hope she drives back home before the storms hit today. We're forecast for large hail & possible tornadoes close to dinner time. Sharon, he's still in the hospital. I'd hoped to go visit today, but now with the updated weather forecast, that's not likely. I'm not happy with the hospital, or Medicare right now. The moral to the story of what's going on right now is: don't retire poor. Even in a state like ours, which is more generous than average, there are some problems that Medicare & social services can't or won't help with. He needs to either recover more, or I'm frankly not sure what's going to happen at this point. Prayers are always appreciated!
