I shouldn't take vacation as I spend too much money. Yesterday kitty was sick and ended up with an emergency vet visit that was over $500. At least now I'm established with a vet here in our new town and I was quite pleased that they worked us in, so she could be seen. She seems to be doing better today and has eaten a little bit. She is hyper thyroid again. I had her treated for that in 2007 or 2008. They did a radioactive iodine treatment. It was the best thing ever. Unfortunately the vet who treated her is retiring at the end of May and is completely booked up until then. I spoke with him and he did give me the names of a couple other vets in the state who also do this type of treatment. Today I went and bought a new swivel glider recliner chair. I had wanted either swivel rockers or swivel gliders but wasn't able to find exactly what I wanted. For the most part I don't care for recliners because they are usually so big. This one isn't quite as big as some recliners and it was so comfortable. I was quite happy to just sit there and glide (rock). I won't get it for 4-6 months because I ordered it with custom fabric. The store only cared a cream with some flecks of light gray or a dark gray. I'm not a gray person so ordered a light tan with a little bit of a pattern in it.
Glad kitty is doing better today. I don't think vet counts against personal spending. I'm 50/50 on the glider. I hope you enjoy it, when it comes!

Good Morning Kids! Sorry I haven't been on here much, but I've had a lot going on. And, adding a new fur baby into the family just adds on to what I already need to get done. A surgery date has FINALLY been set in stone for my relative. Unfortunately, it's not until mid-May, but he's made it this far. Of course, I plan to be at the hospital the day of surgery. Since Covid counts are increasing once again, I hope it doesn't mess things up. Winter STILL doesn't want to leave us. I don't like a "late" Spring, because we tend to move straight into Summer, with no transition. We are supposed to get into the 60's this weekend, but then temps are again going to dive down. I'm beginning to wonder what May will be like.

I was pulled over and given a speeding ticket, Wednesday morning. I was pleasant, didn't argue, tried to answer his questions. He, on the other hand, was NOT. I'm absolutely positive, his name is DICK (not really), spelled in ALL CAPS! He tried so hard, to get me to argue. The man has issues! He gave me incorrect information, claimed it was fact, then told me what a good deal he was giving me. Hmm... Did I have any questions for him? No. Thank you, so much, DICK! Enjoy your day!
All those Karen's out there... I found their perfect match. Officer DICK!
Ticket is for 14 miles over (on a major highway, not a neighborhood) per Officer DICK. He's a swell guy. He didn't even try to be pleasant. Not even a little bit. Didn't ask how I was, or say have a nice day. He just yelled, telling me how wrong I was about EVERYTHING. And of course he was correct. How dare I question anything he said. Not only is he Officer DICK, he's a MAN.
Just smile, say thank you and drive away. Freaking A! Jeepers! 🙄🙄🙄

Been sick for the last week. Managed to get in today at work. It will be interesting to find what I will come back to when out for surgery.

So sorry you got pulled over by a "dick", toomuchreality . We've got some of them in the nearest major city, and also in the richest suburb around here. It's great that you kept your cool. Did you flip him off after he rode off into the sunset? Sorry you've been sick, snapdragon . Hope you're feeling like your normal self soon. Hope your surgery is nothing major (I may have missed something there). Another busy day. And now, the weathernerds have warned us, out of the blue, that we may have a major storm on Saturday. Straight from Winter into Spring storms. Great...

It's pouring and I have to run an errand. Going to just get it done as it's supposed to be like this for the entire day.

Oh heck. Our state is famous for having to run the air conditioner during the daytime, then needing to use the furnace overnight. ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/wink.png) At least it gives us something to talk about.

Good Afternoon Kids! The sky is gloomy here, and it's trying to rain. I attended the care conference for my relative, in person, for the first time since I can't remember when. We all masked up, but they're trying to return to some sense of normal. Whatever that is. Speedy is being a bit of a pain. Not sure if he's a bit jealous of the new puppy, or if he's trying to claim ownership or dominance. He has sprayed the corner of the puppy's kennel more than once. Plus, now he's occasionally pooping in the kitchen once again. Kids!

That isn't good. Didn't you say Lola's mother is an alpha dog so Lola may be an alpha dog? Lola and Speedy will have to work things out.
It's rained here all day. At least the hard rain has stopped and it's more drizzle now.

Peeps! I tell ya, Friday could not get here fast enough for me. We had a carpenter ant infestation in our bedroom - it is swarming season here. Fortunately, my pest control company is great and my regular tech came out within an hour of my call (that guy is getting a holiday bonus big time from me). ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/heart.png) He treated inside and outside and found the point of entry - a piece of rotted wood siding with a concrete crack underneath. I filled the area (we will get estimates on replacing all the wood -- it's decorative slats covering the stucco, or we may just re-stucco, or maybe even go with stone). This is on top of all the usual stuff. Plus three straight weekends of competition, which may actually save my danged sanity - or what's left of it. Tomorrow is my first full trail run, and it is at a place I normally train, so I feel decent about my chances. Seems like everyone had a week of crises big and small, but all stuff we did not need but need to handle.

I finally have a day off, not including cleaning, and my stomach was giving me trouble off & on most of the night. ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/sad.png) I'm going to chalk it up to IBS, but I'm also trying to pay attention, just in case something else is going on. I do recall hearing people complain of some sort of stomach bug going around, but I have no fever. Just gas-type pain. It comes & goes. If it stays, I may need to go in to see what's happening. In the meantime, I'm drinking lots of water. It's Saturday, but it feels like a Monday...

I am back, peeps. Can I just say that the race was the most organized race ever? But that's what happens when the military folks run things. They should hire out to run all sporting events. Seriously. Even the race shirts were in plastic, stacked bins, every single one folded with sharp corners. Started the race at precisely 0745 hours, after a Marine drilled us in pre-race warmup. ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/faint.gif) The race was a local military organization benefit; raised money for medical, dental, food and housing assistance for local veterans, and the event sold out. I finished 12th of 17 in my age group; my first full trail run. I'm good with that. Just washed the kitchenware/bakeware storage shelves and put all the glass baking dishes in the dishwasher. Will wipe down and reorganize throughout the day. Some stuff is getting tossed or donated.

My brother, from Vegas, was in town and came over for lunch. I made a casserole. He's the 1st person to come over since the pandemic hit. Both lunch and the visit were good.

I've been busy all morning. Went for a walk, got the paper. Came home, fixed breakfast, then went out and trimmed the hedges, since I was already sweaty. Tidied the bathrooms. Made a big pitcher of raspberry iced tea, which I am now enjoying (in a glass, not by the entire pitcher). Dinner will be roast chicken, mashed potatoes and corn.

Good Afternoon Kids! Still not feeling the best, and I even took a nap the better part of the afternoon. I'm a bit short-winded, including when I walk, and I'm still getting pain on my right side. I know of a few things this could be, and frankly pneumonia would be the best option (I had it a bunch of years, back, in fact it was this time of the year). When DH gets home from work tonight I'll probably go in, so I can at least rule out some of the worst options, so prayers & positive thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Great news! I don't need any type of surgery, no evidence of a recent heart attack, no reason to hang out at the hospital. But, there IS some fluid in one of my lungs, so I'm getting medication for that tomorrow, and I won't be getting the results of my Covid test until tomorrow. But, since I don't need any type of surgery, that's reason to celebrate right there.
