The weathernerds said we'd start getting sNOw around 3 pm, and just before 3, it actually began to sNOw. They got it right?!? Got a lot of cleaning to do here, and I'm about halfway thru my pile of laundry. It must be Saturday, or something...

Do one thing every day that makes you happy. Have a good weekend! I plan on going to a "friend's" house this evening, that I met on a Buy Nothing group. A group of us are getting together. I've never gone anyplace by myself before. Not something I like doing. I hope I still feel brave in a few hours! You can do this and you will find it liberating to be able to head out by yourself when need be!!

We are heading to Costco later on for a few things. I did some housework today after breakfast (it is a rest day after the race day) but not planning too much. I have a pork loin marinating for later.

Had good weather both ways of the trip this weekend. It was rather windy in one section of the trip on the way home. Windy is the norm for that area so when it wasn't unexpected. There is also a section of the trip where there are several waterfalls. With all the rain we have had recently the waterfalls were looking good. Sometimes I have to remind myself to watch the road.

Good Evening Kids! It's been a long day. We only got about an inch of snow overnight, but it froze when it hit the pavement. Sadly, one of the senior citizens at our church slipped & fell, but she supposedly did a "slow motion" fall, so we don't think she broke anything (we hope!). The chill is definitely in the house. At least it's supposed to get warm enough to melt this week.

Well, THIS is interesting. You all know I had surgery recently. My big medical bills have come in. Now, keep in mind I had similar surgery while down in Florida. Same insurance company, similar surgery, and my out-of-pocket cost looks like it'll be less than half of what I paid in Florida. ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/yikes.png) Cheap place to retire, my foot! ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/raspberries.png) (Auto insurance here is also half of the cost. Seriously, the only area we saved money on there was utilities.)

Because it's so cheap and they can live right on the water.🤔🤔🤔 Hmm... 🤔

Did you not save on taxes in Florida? We are trying to convince my in laws to move. They would save a bundle on state taxes. They are tired of the cold and snow. The houses they've seen are much cheaper.

And, we weren't even in a well-known area. Unless she'll be swimming in money from an expected inheritance, I'm thinking she's being optimistic.

The houses they've seen are much cheaper. While it's true there are no state taxes on income, the state more than makes up for that in property taxes & fees on things like driver's license fees, etc. They've got to make it up somewhere... I was shocked by grocery prices. Maybe because I grew up in the Midwest, but I though their meat prices, among other things, were ridiculous. You might need a loan to host Christmas dinner.

Good Afternoon Kids! It's kinda gloomy here today, but at least the sNOw is melting. Seriously, it is SO dark & gloomy going into Winter, that I hate this time of the year. At least Florida had sunshine most of the year.
I need to clarify that life in Florida isn't all bad. We had some AWESOME neighbors, and the people were very nice. Wasn't impressed, though, with how long it takes to get a dentist or doctor appointment, if you're having a problem. I guess we're a bit spoiled here, if, for example, someone breaks a tooth, you can usually get in the same day, or the next at the latest.

Well the weather has stabilized over here in the PNW for now. We still have lots of flooding, landslides, closed roads and toppled trees to deal with, not counting the completely soaked ground. We are now in the upper 40's during the day and into the 30's overnight. Really starting to feel like late fall winter is coming.
Having a cup of tea with a bagel and heading back to my paperwork pile.
Everyone take care.

Well, of all the dorky things to happen! A little background. We occasionally get small sinkholes in our street. The suburb we live in has a very old system of gutters & underground pipes, where the water runoff from storms goes through an open pipe system, kind of "u" shaped pipes. (I know, how stupid, right?) So, of course after a heavy storm, once every few years a small sinkhole develops, and the city comes out, fills it in, repairs the street, and life goes on. So today, I'm walking towards my mailbox, and there's a boulevard of grass between the sidewalk and the street, where my mailbox is. Before I realized what happened, my foot broke through the soil, and I'm "knee-deep" in the ground. By a miracle I don't seem to be hurt, and I pull my foot out of the hole, and look inside, and all of the soil is washed out underneath, except for maybe 2-3 inches of soil underneath the grass. How DH was mowing, and didn't fall through, is amazing in itself. I already called in to "city hall" of our suburb, and a guy already came out, and marked the area with an orange cone. Hopefully in the coming weeks, they'll fill all of that in, unless of course they're going to wait until Spring. Talk about crazy!

I didn't realize how common sink holes were. I've only ever actually seen one, in my whole life. But it was massive and dropped something like 30 ft, I think. I've seen a few shows recently about sink holes. They're scary! I'm SO glad you are okay!

busymom I'm glad you weren't injured and hopefully the hole is fixed soon as in right now. snapdragon hope your home is safe and not flooded. This weekend I'm going to take Mom with me when I haul the load over. It is supposed to be below freezing at night so we will stay in the hotel instead of the trailer. The trailer doesn't hold the heat in very good and Mom gets so cold anyway. Plus the hose that supplies the water freezes then the toilet doesn't flush well.
The box that has my swim suit was just taken over last weekend and I'm pretty sure I know where it is because DD was laughing about a box labeled swimsuits and long underwear. If we can find it easily then we will take the grandkids for a swim in the hotel pool.

Thank you for the good wishes. Luckily I was not in the flooding areas and I doubled down by living on top of a large hill in the 2nd story of a condo complex. ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/tongue2.png) But I really do feel for those who got hit especially hard up north from me. It's brutal up there. Mostly what I have been dealing with is power surges and fallen branches. Best of luck to everyone planning on doing anything over the weekend -- even if it is just enjoying a movie or going ice skating at a rink.

Good heavens, peeps, and I won't add to anything by complaining about my week! Sheesh, what we all need is some peace and quiet next week! Lots of rain today, and we expect more tomorrow, with a real cold snap for next week. I will start doing some holiday food prep this weekend.

Good Evening Kids! I second the vote for peace & quiet next week, but considering Thanksgiving is coming, it probably won't happen. Winter has arrived early, which means gray, cloudy skies & icy cold winds. Could've waited until AFTER Thanksgiving, like when Winter normally shows up here. Oh well... I've got most of my Thanksgiving grocery shopping done, except for the fresh stuff. Anyone else notice how fresh cranberries are being sold in smaller quantities this year? Only 12 ounces per package.

The van is loaded and ready to roll bright and early tomorrow morning, like oh dark hundred early. Mom is going with me this weekend. We will do the final walk through of the property, this way she will be able to see my new house. I hope to also bring her there around Christmas time but don't know if that will happen. It will also give her a chance to see the great grand kids since DD and family are staying home for Thanksgiving. We have to head out extra early tomorrow because the wild rabbits chewed on DD's car again and shorted out a bunch of stuff. It is in the repair shop about an hour away from there house. They will take the baby with them to go pick up the car but leave the two older ones with me and Mom.

A dreary Saturday here, peeps. Dark, windy, rainy, cloudy. Good day to stay inside and do stuff. Which I am. I got my holiday meal stuff organized. Will make the herb mix and pie crust tomorrow, cranberry sauce Monday. I am going to brine the turkey breast for a few hours Thursday, using water, salt, a lemon and the fresh herbs that are leftover from the stuffing. I am off next Wednesday; I have a swim team breakfast in the a.m. after practice, but pretty much the rest of the day open to prep the pumpkin pie, stuffing, green bean casserole and sweet potatoes (bake, then mash with milk, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg. No marshmallows.)
Laundry is in the dryer and the dishwasher is running.I will dust this afternoon and change sheets later.

Loving the low humidity. As for fresh cranberries I loved going to Fresh Market and dipping cranberries out of the "bog" they had set up. Don't think they do it anymore since remodeling and "upgrading" the store here. But have to admit that it's been a few weeks since last visited so maybe it wasn't set up yet. Might check that out tomorrow - thanks for the reminder!!

I think the winter weather is here to stay also. Gray and cold and lots of wind. The wind sets of my motion detector at the front door as it whips around a corner.
I have things to do on my Christmas card project. I know I am behind.
Be safe Sharon. Does your mother understand that you won't be spending as much time with her?

We'll probably be in the 80's on Christmas Day ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/wink.png) Of course, December is the month that we will likely have a tornado too!! So there's that. But only happens once in a blue moon.
