Sorry about the headaches, snapdragon. Hope you're feeling like your normal self soon. My contractor DID come over tonight. Maybe another hour of work is still needed, then this project should be done.

Today is Dad's service. We are doing a graveside service only due to Covid and it is so rainy/windy that it woke me up. Mom keeps trying to turn this into a huge production with her as the center of attention of course. Dad wouldn't have wanted that at all. In the obituary Mom referred to the 3 children from my nephews wife first marriage as step great grand children. I don't know why she did that other than she probably thought it was proper. My sister called Mom up and tore her a new one and then has been busy posting all over facebook about how family is family etc. I just want this day to be done.

She is trying to find some kind of outlet for her grief, I guess. The whole step-kids thing is odd, though. Family is family, and I personally dislike the step- and half- designations. I hope the time goes by fast and you can get out of there ASAP.

First off, I'm so sorry for your loss Sharon. You know I've typed all this stuff out at least twice & then deleted it because I think to myself "no one wants to hear all about your crazy ass family shit!" lol I've been on a diet for 3 months and I want ALL that food! But on the up side, I have lost 40 lbs so far. my fat ass is still fat tho. Did you know there are still dr prescribed diet pills out there? I didn't! My dr put me on them because, well #1 I was/am fat. #2 with all my health issues, my body apparently was saving up every ounce of fat it could get any & everywhere. Water weight & not being able to even walk thru the grocery store without having breathing problems had me blowing up like a Macy Day Parade balloon. So down 40 lbs, on weight watchers, now able to walk thru the grocery store & no more old lady motorized cart! I'm up to a mile a day on my treadmill. It's a slow ass mile, but it's a mile! Still taking 6 pills a day & the Humira shot once a week. That sucks. Only 3 more months of the weekly Humira shot. UGH! I will admit that dieting on Weight watchers is sooooooooooooooooooo different than when I did it in the late 80's. It's great & not nearly as "can't have anything" as it used to be. Kiddo has called me out for hoarding "points" so I can have fast food or eat out once a week if I want.
It's been 1 year since I had a cigarette!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also means it's been 1 year since I was sick with Covid. STILL dealing with health issues, stamina, but breathing problems improved a LOT.
So onto the fam! Mom got her 2nd vaccine shot on Friday & came by the house. 1st time we've seen each other up close in forever. She still wore a mask the entire time & didn't stay too long, but it was great to be able to see each other.
Kiddo's car blew it's engine 2 weeks ago. barely 80,000 miles on it & the engine totally blew up. Apparently 2011 & 2012 Sonata's have a recall flaw in the engine that makes them blow up between 80-100,000 miles. The dealership is replacing almost 30 engines a month right now. We're still waiting for his car to get put on the diagnostic machine to see if his will be covered by the recall. If it's covered, they replace the entire engine free of charge & provide a rental car until his is finished. Right now he's driving my Jeep. Blowing up an engine is bad enough, but happened on his 2nd day at a new job. He had to call out on his 2nd day because he was sitting on the side of the freeway. He didn't get fired thank goodness. Everyone please send good thoughts & crossed fingers for a recall code when his car finally makes it on the machine.
Now onto the crazies.
The stink bus is still in Tampa. She stayed there thru the SuperBowl, which kinda surprised me. She has been Walmart parking lot hopping. Sounds like Florida Walmarts only let you park in their parking lots for a week before you have to move. Texas lets you stay for a month. She's not doing many check ins or FB posts lately, so not really sure what she's doing or where she might be headed. Last check in was almost 2 weeks ago. She never posted any info about visiting Not My Uncle J, no pics, just nothing. That's probably intentional. Again, I gotta let it go. Not My Uncle was not my uncle, so....sucky life lesson I guess.
Got some crazy stories coming out of Virginia. Aunt S took a header while mixing her prescription pills & alcohol and shattered her leg. Didn't just break it, but shattered it. broken in 5 places. Had to have surgery & put a rod in it. She's now bed bound. She was driving Uncle H crazy with having him play nursemaid, entertain her, run silly errands. She sent him to Costco to buy her pajamas one day. Order the damn things on line. Then, Uncle H was having his teeth pulled for dentures/snap on teeth (implants) and ended up with a massive infection. Which required hospitalization. He had to take an Uber to the hospital. I think he got to come home a couple of days ago. Mom tried with phone calls, but they went about as well as they always do. She says hi & Aunt S starts screaming about the orange menace non stop. She loves her orange kool aid & Q-uirks. My cousin's bitchy wife is a mask-hole. She hates them, storms out of businesses that requires them & attends rallies to protest them. Well guess who came down with Covid last week? yep...his bitchy wife. Guess who can't help his parents because he's in Covid quarantine for 14 days? my cousin. Guess whose daughter refused to help her parents because she didn't want to expose her toddler to Covid? yep, my cousin & his bitchy wife's daughter. Karma is making the rounds in Virginia right now.
Shit got real for family in Houston last week. Aunt J finally has power back & my shitty cousin finally has her damn kids back from Aunt J's house. Overall for family/friends across the frozen tundra of Texas all came thru it with some minor home damages, horrible nightmares of freezing cold nights, cattle & chicken loss & a list of new items they'll buy just in case...like winter coats & gloves. Seriously, look at pics of kids playing in the snow in Houston, they all have socks on their hands. Never owned a winter coat or gloves until I moved to Georgia, they just weren't ever necessary in Houston. I never saw snow (anything other than a dusting you could write your name on cars in) until I moved to Georgia & now it's snowing/freezing in Houston.
I think that about covers it for now.
First, well done on taking care of yourself! Sounds like you are doing a great job and I need to be skeered you'll be coming after me in a race! Thanks for the warning about Auntie Pea Brain in Tampa -- I am on the other side of the state, but you just never know; she might hop on Alligator Alley and roll on over this a way. I am buying a bazooka just in case. Sounds like the cousin's bitchy wife is the covidiot in your family, and she found out that karma is not only a bitch, she's gone viral (nope, no joke there at all).
Glad the Houston folks mostly made it through OK.

Hello peeps, it has been a week and then some. Kitty had to make an emergency trip to the vet; turns out she is allergic to fleas. Poor thing was itchy and scabby and losing fur. She got some shots and a topical treatment and is much better. I swear, the vet could make money serving wine (or offering tranquilizers) to the pet owners when they come in. Most of us need a little something as much as our pets. I've got a few chores to do, including mow the lawn and finish gathering up papers for our taxes. And it looks like I will be rescheduling my Denver trip for the fifth time. I won't be able to get a vaccination before April 1. Hubs gets his second shot in two weeks.

Made it through yesterday. The grandkids did pretty good for how much they have been hauled around this week. A week ago Saturday they drove 4 hours to their new house and spent the night. Sunday they drove back and spent Monday and Tuesday night at my house and the daytime with with their other grandparents. Wednesday they drove back to their new house. Friday morning the drive back to my house and then the funeral and going over to a house full of people they sort of know. This morning they were back on the road before 8am, DSIL needs to be to work by noon. It will be nice to have a few days of peace and quiet.

Good Morning Kids! It's been a loooooong week. So glad we've all made it to the weekend. I did a quick grocery run this morning, and I found some Girl Scouts selling cookies! Sharon, you've done remarkably well with everything that has happened. Enjoy those days off, & be good to yourself.

That's a new one for me. A kitty being allergic to fleas. Same for me, but the vet said it works like it does in humans...some of us allergic to bee stings while others not bothered. Poor kitty wants to get out on the patio in the worst way. I keep reminding her what the vet said. Not helping much.

Brunch today reminds me of my brother going out for brunch and sending me a picture of what he ordered -- he said it was avocado toast and healthy. Well yeah, sure...until he added the bacon and eggs on top of it.

Sharon Hoping you are enjoying your peace and quiet and recovering from your surgery on schedule. I was sent home with an extra piece of equipment that makes sleeping difficult for me. Today I have 3 appointments related to this and fingers crossed the equipment will be removed this afternoon. Because of some of the complications I am going to ask the doctor to extend my FMLA out another week and aim to return the 15th. Actually I would love to make it two more weeks and if the doctor suggests that I'm not going to argue.

Hi Kids! It's been a strange week. I woke up yesterday with a large lump near my clavicle bone. It "magically" appeared, which bothered me, so I got a quick appointment at the doctor. She thinks it's no big deal. She did draw some blood, just to be sure. But, for now, she's thinking some sort of allergic reaction. I have been holding our puppy in my lap sometimes when I'm on the computer, so I'm hoping I'm not suddenly allergic to dogs after all of this time (Plus, we've owned a number of dogs already.) It could be a new bedtime moisturizing cream I've been using. She also suggested that the salmon I had for dinner a couple of nights ago could be the problem. I'm on steroids for the next 6 days. Praying it takes care of whatever the problem is...

Well, my prayers have been answered. The lab confirmed it's NOT the big "c". Hopefully the steroids will take care of whatever is going on. We've got a good melt going on here today, so it ought to feel like Spring in another day or two.

I got rid of my hated extra piece of equipment yesterday and slept better last night than I have in over a week. The sleep is what I need for healing. My leave was also extended by another 4 weeks. If I feel I am doing okay after 4 weeks I can call the doctor and discuss going back then but she really prefers that I am off 6 weeks.

Good Evening Kids! We had another wonderful day of thawing. In fact, I can still hear water dripping off of our roof. The weatherman says we should lose about an inch of snow per day for the next several days.

Good Morning Kids! The sun is up, and I'm looking forward to more snow melting today. I booked an appointment with DS's neurologist (he's still only doing telephone doctor appointments). In our state, DS still can't get the Covid vaccine early, even though he's considered vulnerable, which is frustrating, but we'll wait it out, masks on, until Summer if we need to.

Good Morning Kids! We made it to Friday! It's cloudy, but still warm enough for sNOw to melt. My contractor should be finishing up the current project today, and then he'll be back, probably around June, to work on stuff that he needs warm weather to accomplish (my front porch is showing age, and needs work).
