Hello my fine Friday peeps! Just popping in for an EE quickie! Been a busy week and especially today; we are expecting two bouts of bad weather to roll in on two cold fronts tomorrow, so I went out tonight to Sprouts and CVS; I left WalMart for tomorrow. No pool for the next two Saturdays, but I will bike tomorrow and run Sunday, and then I have a four-mile road race next Saturday and breakfast with a friend after that, if he gets back from his ski trip in time.

I don't think that I am ever going to get my stamina back, just need to keep reminding myself I'm not even two weeks post-op yet. Yesterday my big projects were cleaning the bathrooms and I did that in stages with rest breaks in between and returning my cans/bottles. Mom and I also went and got our free pansy's from our local nursery who just reopened for the season. Last night I also sat on the floor and shredded stuff for an hour or so. All of that activity wore me out and I slept 11 hours last night. Today's major project is changing the bed and doing laundry. It was too much yesterday to wash the towels etc from cleaning the bathrooms.

Sharon Nagging here...doing too much too soon will just make it take longer to recover. I'm old and know stuff. I just threw out the whole book on not doing stuff, really pulled a bone head move this morning. The freezer is in the garage so I went out this morning to get another loaf of bread, locked myself in the garage. I know there is an extra key out back but since I put the new gates in last fall they have been locked, hence the extra key is behind 6 ft tall locked gates. My solution, since it was 6am etc, was to move one of my garbage cans next to the fence and then set up the 6 ft step ladder next to it. Then it was up the step ladder so I could stand on the garbage can, then I lifted the step ladder over the fence. The garbage can was high enough I was able to get my leg up over the fence and onto the step ladder. I got the key and then reversed the process. Unfortunately I fear I may have stretched some of my internal stitches. Mom no longer has a key because she kept coming into my house. I would come home and find things on the counter etc that she dropped off or she would decide I needed help with something and come over and do it, without asking or consulting me. I've known that my key lockbox has needed to be moved but it was on my list of things to get done. It has now moved up on the list.

Good Morning Kids! After having my contractor & his people here for a good chunk of the week, I slept in today. Easy does it Sharon! We don't want you having any setbacks. The sun is out. The thawing continues!

Hello peeps! Rain is about a half-hour away. I went to WalMart early today to avoid the weather and wound up in Weirdo-ville. Strangest trip ever. I get my stuff into the trunk after shopping, and I am in my car about to pull out when I am scared out of my wits by someone who just appears out of nowhere at the driver's side window. I have my mask on and she is wearing one, so I roll down the window a bit to see what she needs. She is elderly and something immediately strikes me as being "off" about her. She asks me for money. I tell her no, start my car and start to leave, but in my rearview mirror, I see her approach someone else and do the same thing. I also notice she has no purse, but is carrying what appears to be a car key in one hand. Now, I am suspicious. She is wearing decent jewelry, and I figure she is going to get hit by a car, or robbed or beaten when she asks the wrong person for money. So I park where I can observe her and call the non-emergency police line to report her. I am not mad about the panhandling, but she does appear to be out of it and the no-purse thing bothers me. What woman goes to WalMart with no purse? I tracked her movements while waiting for the police -- she must have asked 10 or 12 people for money. She also grabbed an empty shopping cart and pushed it around the lot for a bit.
Just when the police show up, she uses that key to pop open the trunk of a very nice Hyundai Sonata. WTF? Asking people for money and driving THAT?
I left the scene at that point. I am thinking possible dementia (it appears her purse was on the front seat of the car; who does THAT in any parking lot?) or she's Crime Spree Granny, scamming people out of spare cash and stashing it in the trunk.
Not sure whether I am mad, sad or both at this point.

Note to self: no panhandling in WM parking lot. My blue hair makes me too easily identifiable. But geez...it's a way to get pocket change.

I spent some time today reading my new book. Beginning of this week I ordered Pioneer Girl which is the first book that Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote and is more autobiographical than the little house books. It has now been annotated and more information added about the various versions of this book that exist and why. It is very interesting but is more scholarly than just reading about Ma, Pa, Mary and Laura. I'm glad I bought it.

I just want murphy to move on and leave my family alone. Mom just called and one of my cousins had a heart attack and passed away last night, he would have been in his early 50's. His daughter is in high school and he has a little boy who is around 2.

Well, Kids, this week is NOT starting off well. DH lost a childhood friend to Covid, leaving behind a wife & kids. TheOtherMe , this is another case from your state. The creepy part is, DH just lost another friend within the last 2 weeks, and while cause of death has not been made public, the rumor mill from his hometown says that was Covid, too. Such a ruthless illness. These guys weren't even old enough to get the vaccine yet. Sometimes life just isn't fair.

I found out yesterday that I lost another high school friend to Covid. He was the leader of the popular band when I was in high school. His girlfriend and 1st wife was my friend. That is the only reason I knew him. Covid is a horrible disease and people think it's over. It isn't. Since he died of covid pneumonia per his obituary, I'm guessing he already had it and was sick so hadn't been vaccinated. I hope his current wife didn't get covid and has been vaccinated. You do know busymom that Iowans will do the right thing.

So sorry about your friend, TheOtherMe. Covid is simply ruthless. So sorry the leadership there isn't smarter.

I'm getting ready to go over to DD's and see her new place. I will also be getting rid of the her things that I have been hauling around in my car for several weeks. When I talked with DD this morning DGD told me all about helping Mama make dessert for when I come to visit. DD told me that dinner tonight is meatloaf, baked potatoes, green beans with berry cobbler for dessert. I can't wait.

I'm old enough that there was no internet when I was in high school. My friend Louie and his band played Louie, Louie all the time. Naive me thought it was them on the radio when I heard the song on the radio.
It's sad to think my friend, his wife, is also gone. She died of a heart attack a couple of years ago.
Too young for both of them.

Dammit! Now I just found out a friend of mine miscarried this weekend. I don't think any of us want a repeat of 2020.
