I need to talk with my Mom about painting. She is really good and I do okay. I know that she needs some painting done at her place and I need some done here. If we work together we could both get our chores done and I know that it would turn out okay because she would make sure that it does.

I like to paint and I'm very picky. I never tape and enjoy cutting in. To me, it's time where I can veg out and just think about whatever I want. My kitchen is currently apricot, walls and ceiling. I like it. Masterbath is next. Some sort of straw shade. Not too neutral, not too yellow.
My springtime to-do list is cleaning out the garage, and sorting/shredding old paper work in my office.

Well home depot was a bust, the vanity wasn't in stock and the vanity top I wanted was all scratched up.
I will decline that too cheesy as I don't really PM a lot.

I really want to paint the whole house with the exception of my kids' bedrooms... those are newly painted. Everywhere in the house is cheap flat paint that is horrible! The color's not so bad, but we've got kids here and I can't clean the walls, AT ALL! There's even flat paint in the bathrooms Maybe I'll get to it this spring, summer - but I doubt it. What's really on the agenda for this spring is cleaning and organizing the garage... But I don't want to think about that right now! I've still got to get all the Christmas boxes back in the attic.

Rose, I actually just used flat for my livingroom yellow, and I have never used flat before. The flaws in the wall are less glaring with the flat than with semi-gloss. But then I only have my almost 16 year old stepson here on weekends, and my girls are moved out now.

I actually prefer the satin (?) finish, it's between semi-gloss and flat, but you can wipe it, use the magic eraser on it, doesn't scuff every time someone brushes up against it... If I lived by myself, I'd be a fan of flat because it is easier to apply and does hide imperfections... but I don't and currently you can see juice splatters, tire tracks from matchbox cars and random scuff marks all over the walls. It's probably just me, but they just GLARE at me all day.

I think satin is what I meant....I have used satin in all the rest of my rooms, and it is a nice finish, and washes well
I know what you mean about the scuff marks. At the front door where everyone takes shoes off, I got upset at seeing a couple of black marks only a few weeks after I was done painting.

My livingroom actually turned out exactly as I envisioned it when I first moved into this house. The whole house with the exception of some of the blue papered walls, is white, and one day I was sitting in the livingroom, looking into the hallway, and all I saw was white, floors, walls, doors, closet doors, and ceilings. YUCK. I chose a very soft yellow for the livingroom ( I envisioned it being the color of butter and it really is, cuz I checked! ) and felt my dark furniture would really stand out nicely with that yellow and it does. I plan to experiment with a little bit of a wild color in the hallway to the bedrooms, and I can justify something bold because with all the doorways, there simply isn't enough wall space to make it obnoxious. It has to be compatible with the yellow, so I am choosing something along the lines of a pumpkin pie color. If I don't like it, I can always paint over it! My kitchen is now a pumpkin color. I have wainscoting along the bottom, which is just a stained wood coloring, so the upper wall and ceiling is pumpkin, which looks phenomenal. Has a really nice country kitchen type look. Do you know how I know you're gay?

I have a hugenormous list and I hate naggie for reminding me that spring is around the corner.
That said - I do love the once a year deep clean... this year I'm making hubby and girls scrub all the white walls!!!! I also have a lot of gardening stuff I'd like to do.

I've got that everywhere, and it's very forgiving. the first time I ever had input on paint was when my parents and I were painting my first condo. I had zero input on the type - neither parent would let me buy anything other than eggshell, and I later thanked them for it.

It definitely was satin chiver. As soon as she said it I knew that is what it was. Now I have never used eggshell, so I might have to experiment with that when I do that spare bedroom, especially after a recommendation!

I like satin too, I think that is pretty much all I use. I was so mad at HD, I was all ready to get the vanity and top. I had the faucets in the cart and I was excited to paint the bathroom and get it all pretty. Now I have lost interest (yeah it is that easy for me to lose interest!!!!) I have ordered the shower curtain and fixins and now I am crushed because I have to look again, this shit drains me as I cannot make up my mind.

I don't have a tile backsplash now, and am not planning to put one in with the remodel. luckily most of my splatter is red sauce-type things, and I'm painting the back wall close to a brick red. it would be nice to easily wash though.

1. Pull up the rest of the tea roses in front of the bridge & plant real roses 2. Paint the bridge & front balconeys 3. stain the deck out back 4. clear out more of the crap & limbs around the fruit trees (rotting whiskey barrels & wooden benches) 5. Move more rocks out of the fruit tree area (previous owner never met a rock she didn't like) 6. repaint the basement 7. decide on tile or carpet for the basement and get done 8. get new railroad ties and redo the terraces up to the fruit trees 9. garden prep - tilling, mulching, fertilizing 10. new shelves in garage & laundry room - reorganize both

Last weekend I coerced DH and DS into taking all the furniture out of what used to be the dining room and is now the game room/dojo so I could clean the hardwood under the rug and rotate the rug. I then had them rearrange the furniture to better suit using the kinect with the xbox. I washed all the walls and moldings and dusted the ceiling and the light fixture. I was thinking that this weekend they could move all the furniture out of the living room and I could repeat the process but for some reason they aren't interested. In fact they flat out refuse. I'll give them a while for the trauma to wear off and then blindside them again. ;D
