new carpets for my second floor mirror for my master bathroom (it's only been 4 years w/o one... : a new garage door opener I'm expecting to be completely out of debt, except mortgage, either late this year or very early next year. so, I will also be starting to budget the "blow up the kitchen" project - which also includes flooring for the soon-to-be entirely open first floor.

My roommate and I have to clean out the office, which has been made in a storage room. I'm also going to replace the toilet in the master bath, so I'll do that -- we get a giant "throw anything into it" dumpster twice a year at my complex, so I'm waiting for that so I can get rid of the old one. I've got a few other things that have been on my list to do since October (finish touch up painting, do a second coat in the master bathroom, stain and replace a couple of interior doors, paint/refinish some furniture), but who knows if that's actually going to get done....

There are so many things that need to get done around the house that don't fall into the spring cleaning category...more the minor maintenance category, and just not enough money to go around to take care of it all.
J, I painted my livingroom last spring, and haven't gotten around to finishing painting the woodwork and doors.
DH has been busy working on and putting funds I wish we could be using in our house to work on the rental. The last tenants did so much damage, we can't rent. He has everything torn out and had to replace several large sections of drywall, and even some of the 2x6 & 2x4 wall studs that got broken by the tenant. The tenant left in the night so no idea how to get reimbursed for it. At this point, we want to make it sellable and wash our hands of it. We have our fingers crossed it can be completed and sold this year.

I (and I am pretty pleased with myself) did not tape the room at all, and made no paint mistakes on the ceiling or woodwork. I am only doing woodwork, because I have been in this house 10 years, and haven't repainted woodwork. I did the ceilings in all the rooms except our bathroom. A royal pain in the ass, ceilings are, when there is that "popcorn" or "cottage cheese" or whatever they call that crap on it.
I do have pics of the room before and after on my FB if you wanted to look.

You did a beautiful job!! I had a bunch of people over to help paint -- we did the second bathroom, living room, kitchen, entryway, staircase, hallway and both bathrooms in a day. So I taped ahead of time, just to be on the safe side. Of course, not everyone who helped is a particularly skilled painter (myself included), so there's definitely a bunch of touch up to be done.

I am kind of anal about painting....I don't think I could have a bunch of people doing it. In my mind I would be screaming that they aren't doing it right!

The only person I would trust to do painting for me would be 2 of my brothers, and both of them have done it for a living. Of course they are both just as anal as I am about painting!

Repainting a few rooms. But they are dark so I have to primer them first. Other than that, our usual spring cleaning. Washing curtains, windows, blinds, comforters, cleaning out garage and house crawlspace, etc..... And after 2 snowstorms in less than a month, I AM SO READY FOR WARM WEATHER! #49

I have two bedrooms to paint. So far I have "virtually'' painted them in all 2000 Sherwin Williams colors and still havn't decided on one.

I haven't re-done it since my oldest DD moved out 5 years ago, and it is a shade of green I can't stand (she picked it out). I am torn between a neutral beige or a soft blue. Currently the carpet is grey but eventually we will be pulling it out and doing hardwood/laminate floors. Ironically this whole house was done up in a soft (80's) blue and I have removed all the wallpaper and re-painted over all this blue, and now I am considering doing this in blue! It is a small room, 9x12 so I can't really use a deep color in it. Beige would allow me to swap decor easily

Sigh.....right now, it's taking all of my energy to do the bare minimum of cleaning. Fortunately, I don't have a lot to clean but I can't do too much or my hip gets too cranky and then I'm done for the day.
Once I have gotten through this surgery and rehab, I'm hoping to get my place painted - if I have to do it myself. I've been here 10 years and it definitely needs it!

Cheesy- The "virtual" tool is kind of cool, but to many options almost makes it harder to pin one down! If you already know that you are going to go with a blue though it might help you narrow it down a little.

I've never lived anywhere I could paint so I probably suck at it. That being said I tend to be anal about how things are done. I used to take the towels out of the linen closet after the ex did laundry and refold them the right way. Does it really matter how the towels are folded? No! And I know this its just hard to let go of old habits. My stepmom was very particular about how things were to be done and we learned from a young age to do it the right way. It made him resent helping bc after all I was just going to go behind him and redo it. I learned and I try to let things that don't matter go. Some things do matter like cramming so many dishes in the dishwasher they don't get clean. Others like how the towels are folded don't matter.

If you already know that you are going to go with a blue though it might help you narrow it down a little. My livingroom actually turned out exactly as I envisioned it when I first moved into this house. The whole house with the exception of some of the blue papered walls, is white, and one day I was sitting in the livingroom, looking into the hallway, and all I saw was white, floors, walls, doors, closet doors, and ceilings. YUCK. I chose a very soft yellow for the livingroom ( I envisioned it being the color of butter and it really is, cuz I checked! ) and felt my dark furniture would really stand out nicely with that yellow and it does. I plan to experiment with a little bit of a wild color in the hallway to the bedrooms, and I can justify something bold because with all the doorways, there simply isn't enough wall space to make it obnoxious. It has to be compatible with the yellow, so I am choosing something along the lines of a pumpkin pie color. If I don't like it, I can always paint over it!

I have wainscotting along the bottom, which is just a stained wood coloring, so the upper wall and ceiling is pumpkin, which looks phenomenal. Has a really nice country kitchen type look.

It is hard to let it go Cheesy. J I know it has the opposite effect that I want. That's why I try to let things go that don't matter. Its hard though when its been ingrained since you were a little kid that there is one right way to do things. Reprogramming's hard. Add to that a tendency to be a perfectionist and want everything I do to be fabulous....and well I'm working on it.

J, I don't think I could do the ceiling the same color as the walls. The only room I did that in is our bedroom, and I painted that ivory, so it made sense to match the ceiling.

My mom was very particular about folding clothes, and to this day the only one that I am particular about is the towels. Now I will say I fold the towels the way I do because they store better in my small spaces the way they are folded. Does that make sense? As far as the dishes, cramming them in makes no sense.

The only spots where I have that are the kitchen and one bathroom, because it's 2-tone with the wainscotting, and the entryway (it's really small) and the stairs/hallway since it's just a white with a little blue in it. The other rooms have different colors on the walls and ceilings. If I didn't have the wainscotting in the kitchen, I would've used two different colors.
