Hey hounds I know I asked about this before, but I got my All You mag this weekend and they are reminding me that I only have 1. ISSUE. LEFT. I know someone had mentioned a magazine fundraiser, but I missed the last few pages of the September thread and I didn't know if that had come up again. So, if anyone has spotted any good deals, please post or PM. Thanks! BFF and I are taking a trip to DC this weekend. We are going to eat delicious food and watch hockey Hotels are so expensive, but I think I found a decent deal. At least it comes with free breakfast... emhalf, My son's school is doing a magazine fund raiser and I have ordered the All You 24 issues for 30$ since I could not find a better deal anywhere else. All deals posted so far show 19.99 for 1 year or 24.99 for 2 years, but only for new members.

FREE STUFF BUT LOWER QUALITY I know that a lot of people are brand loyal to certain things. Some of us have our favs and others are constrained by family members. I have to admit that the RA toilet paper was less than stellar quality; but when it comes to quality, I always have to ask myself whether the price I would have to pay for the higher quality stuff would be worth it, and many times the answer is "no". I saw an ad for toilet paper the other day (I think it was in Safeway's circular). The ad showed the total cost for the package of TP and then a side note saying, "Like paying $.75/roll". SEVENTY FIVE CENTS A ROLL? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? AND THAT IS A SALE? So, okay, I had 30 packages of the RA stuff and ya, it isn't the best. At first I was even dreading having to use it, but decided to get it over with. And guess what? We got used to it. By the time we got 1/3 of the way through the stockpile, I was bummed that I hadn't gone back and gotten more before they turned the deal off. (Who knew they'd shut it down on Monday?) I haven't changed my mind. It's not very good TP. But for the money I saved by using free RA TP for the last nine months (and I still have 5 packages left), I'm really thankful/glad that I got it even though I know that when I return to using the "good stuff" I'll wonder how I ever put up with the crappy RA stuff for so long.

FREE STUFF BUT LOWER QUALITY I got a few pkgs of the RA free tp and some very freap Angel Soft tp early in 2011. Since my husband is the "I won't use anything but Cottonelle" one, I just put those other tp's aside for my use. Weird? Maybe. But I too am cheap. And, frankly, with the price of food & goods going through the roof, my more intense couponing & stockpiling is maybe keeping us where we were in terms of expenses a few years ago. I actually need to do an analysis at some point and see. I look at it like this. There are certain things I am picky about - some because I have to (i.e. I'm allergic to a few preservatives so the only lunch meat I can safely eat is found at Whole Foods) and some just because I like those things (goat cheese is my weakness.) So, to sort of balance out those costs, I'll gladly be the one to use the freap/free t.p. when I can get it and will use any type of free toothpaste, shampoo, soap, well, you name it! (And my husband is only picky about t.p. - he is so happy about all the stockpiled razors, toothpaste, etc that I have.) I'm so cheap that even though I have frizzy hair, I won't indulge in my best shampoos/conditioner, when I have other things that are free. I save the really good stuff (John Frieda - which I got 2 sets of for free this year at RA) for certain occasions. So, I mention all that to say that, while I do buy Cottonelle double-ply for our household, to please my husband, I will NEVER turn down free or even freap t.p. The main thing for me is that I won't buy one brand for, say 1 cent/SF when I can get Cottonelle for 1.3 cents/SF. But I WILL buy the other stuff for say 2/10th of a penny/SF. You get the idea. Just recently I was able to get a 4-pack of Charmin at Sfway for 37 cents. So of course I gladly did that!

Anyone know how long the Wags Cottonelle catalina runs for? I know it doesn't start until tomorrow, but when does it end? Trying to figure out if I need to make a special trip for it this weekend...My TP stockpile is LOW It looks like it's the packages that are always $5, so, it shouldn't just be this week's ad price...Anyone know?

It used to be that I could increase my savings every year as a result of using coupons. This year I am just trying to tread water - making sure that we save as much as we did in '10 (adding in the extra money we get from the break in SS taxes of course). I have a little less than three months to go and I'm not sure that I'm going to be able to even break even this year. Buddy's $1000 surgery didn't help. I might have to dig into that Obama SS money after all. ETA: Oh, I almost forgot to ask. How on earth did you get $.37 TP at Safeway?

I'm not brand loyal at all although I do prefer Dove and/or Olay soap to other brands. Fortunately, they go on sale frequently enough that I can usually score some at a good price. Re TP, I'm down to my last roll of the RA brand. I didn't particularly care for it but it lasted a little more than 10 months which is fantastic considering Murph Mart occasionally has problems with looters: DD's boyfriend, friends, and shock of all shock: my own grown children! I was able to get some more TP & Scott paper towels on the freap a few weeks ago when the new WAGS opened and they had a $3/$10 purchase q for that store only. But the Cottonelle deal is good, too, and I have 2/$1.60 RR's I can use. I just have to find a cheap filler. Dancinmama: Since your DS is as cut and cute as you say, I'm sure he has the pick of the litter and just having a good time right now. Too bad both my DD's have boyfriends: both would be able to support him in the style to which he's become accustomed. If their situations change in the future, maybe we can set up a chance meeting. Would he prefer a physical therapist or doctor? LOL!

ETA: Oh, I almost forgot to ask. How on earth did you get $.37 TP at Safeway? LOL...I had a feeling you'd pick up on that comment. It was kind of complicated - and not something easily replicable. I normally share every deal on here, but this one was hit or miss. It involved overage on P&G products. I tried it 3 times. Failed twice and hit success once. So, I didn't post it when I did it, because it was more likely than not that it wouldn't work out at the register for most people. But, believe me, if I see any deals that are replicable, especially on t.p., I will post! We all love free/freap t.p.!

I don't think he's interested in what they do; he's just looking for loving and loyal. He's working out as I type.

I will say, however, that I have a couple of checkers that would not care about overage IF the register allows it and the coupons don't beep.

Murpath - that is AMAZING that you were able to make that free t.p. last 10 months! leanna: It is amazing how long that stuff has lasted me too. I DID get (30) packages though. I was so bummed because my RA had A TON of it. They had it in its normal spot, they had a endcap totally filled with it and they had it stacked up in their store room. I knew it was an awesome deal, but I did not want to be greedy about it. I bought (20) packages and commented to the clerk about what a great deal it was. When she mentioned that they had a ton of it in the stock room, I took that an an invitation to get a little more, so I got (10) more packages. I decided to stop there and had planned to go back toward the end of the sale and see if they still had some left, but of course by that time they had shut the deal down. When I went in the following Sunday I asked if they had sold out. The cashier said that they hadn't - they still had a ton of it in the stock room.

Since I couldn't get a photo small enough of my Stockpile Room to put up here, I took a video instead. It's here:
Keep in mind it's empty. This is part of the house that my husband is going to be renovating. But I'm sure you all will think exactly what I thought when I saw this room: Stockpile Room!

Nope - no closet, but built in shelves on another part of the room. I am so looking forward to using that room after the remodel of that part of the house is done. Right now most of my stockpile is in boxes.

I may try hiptosave's suggestion. ~$20 for 2 years is about what I paid last time, and I think that's fair.
