Update: 12/20 $0 Days Didn't do much this weekend. Saturday we went shopping for DH so he had more "interview" clothes. They talked about bringing him up to the corporate headquarters some time this week. I don't know if you all remember me talking about an old contact that called DH this spring to talk about job opportunities and then we never heard anything again? Well- he is the boss for this company. That helps since he already knows and likes DH. QOTW: I am a long ranger planner with little follow through so I tend to be a dieter to make up for my lack of follow through COTW: With the potential for DH to get a different job my long range goal will be to still maintain a budget on his potential UE benefit amount (in the event he is ever laid off again). Right now we are pretty close to being able to manage everything on just my income. I want to be able to throw the bulk of his salary at the last remaining debt we have (one credit card and my car).

Just a drive by. DGM is back in the hospital as of midnight. She was talking to people who were not there- some of whom have been dead a while. Things are about to get ugly around here.
honey- enjoyed your post!

9 NS, 13 NEO
Hi All! Busy weekend, 2 spend days, 2 NEO days. I had a fitness profile done. (I am not fit was the general theme, though I'll get the detailed report on it this week.)
Mizbear- Hugs. Let us know how DGM is.
Shelia- Sounds like things are positive for DH. I think it was you who made the skillet lasagna, glad your boys liked it too!
Honey- Great post on MrsL's blog.
Christmas- I'm in for cards and secret santa.
QOTW- Lifestyle for the most part. When we slip up it is usually a fluke or emergency, then we get back on board.
COTW- Mine is not really financial. It is to spend more time on me. I know that sounds odd, but for the past 4 years, I have been consumed with DS. I'm trying fitting in time to work out and read books, do those things that I enjoy that I haven't been doing since DS was conceived. So I'm heading to the gym tonight. My three month pass will run through January 15th, then I have a 30 visit punch card that will get me through April at another gym. I'm also going to focus on getting a new job in the next 6 months.

mizbear: Hugs. Sorry to hear of your grandma's problems. Yes getting rid of the rental will be a HUGE relief. The current tenant is challenging to say the least. I can hardly wait to be rid of her. Too bad I didn't sell it when I sold my other home in 2005. Oh well.

Oh on a positive note my solo medical plan which is a personal plan I found will now pay $20 towards a gym membership if I go 12 times a month or more. I may have to seriously consider this. I would like to take some classes like spinning and Zumba or whatever they have and mix my fitness routines up. So I will need to check into costs... Now if we could get DF's insurance to kick some in we may have quite a bit paid for in a family membership.

mk- one of my goals for my new gym is to go every day for this new year (started on my birthday). A few things that help: a) 24 hour gym means I can go anytime b) they have a pool so minimum of 12 laps counts as cardio for the day c) the goal is to GO, I don't force myself to exercise when I get there but every time I go, I exercise d) mental technique to keep consistency "don't break the chain" every time I go builds on the day before. If I skip a day I have to start over.
I'm meeting with a personal trainer tonight to get some feedback on my routine.
Had a pre-interview interview today that lasted 2 hours. It was amazing, we got a ton of content for the call and lots of examples and concrete steps to actually creating change. I'm so very thrilled to record this and will post links on my website when it's up. BTW, past interviewees include the owner of Groupon, the guy who started Wikipedia, the woman who started Kiva lending and so many successful entrepreneurs.
On my personal blog I also posted pictures of the huge photo wall in my bedroom and reflections after my last birthday. it's myfriendkelly.wordpress.com

UPDATE: 13 NEO Goal: 25 11 NSD/CSD Goal: 20I really blew my budget the last couple of days - and mostly for the sake of expediency and rebellion. Neither of which is a good reason I know. I need to get my actual numbers into the spreadsheet tonight and see just how much damage I did to myself. MK - I would be up for the card exchange and secret Santa. And I KNEW you had "fudged" the rules when I saw that I was your "secret" Santa!! 3cats - You be careful with that slicer! They are deadly looking things. startsmart - So sorry to hear you had such an apparently stressful evening. Give me a call or drop me a line if you need to talk. spruby - Welcome back, glad to hear you had a great time. dakota - Regarding your question of how much longer I am going to be at my job? I honestly don't know. We are trying to push it to the end of the month and "fingers crossed* November 1st - because that would mean the company would pay for my medical through November 30th before I would have to pick up the COBRA payments. And while the company agreed to this - it is MY choice to stay and write these process manuals. Something I am going to start trying to do from home actually as there are way too many distractions here for me to be able to focus. As to my "weird" feelings about the meeting Friday - I think the short answer is that I hate sales, and especially trying to "sell" myself. It makes me squirmy, anxious and I do believe I suck at it. So when the counselor started talking about "branding myself" my first response was " Oh H$LL NO .. I'm no salesman" ... my other reaction was "What? I'm a heifer that might get lost so you need to burn a mark on my a$$?"Still feeling weird about this, but I think I have to get over it. Seems to be a common thing now in the recruiting world. Doesn't mean I like it any better though. In my world this is the same thing as being boastful and prideful and is NOT something proper people do. QOTW: Interesting question. As much as I wish I were the other way - I would say that financially I am a Dieter. I usually feel as though I just need to go from one set of deadlines to the next. Sometimes in doing that I stumble across long term changes - such as lowering my monthly phone bill or getting a fixed billing amount on utilities. COTW: This will take some thinking, and I may just keep it as a long term goal to consider after I find a new job and have a steady income stream. On a slightly unrelated note: I am crossing fingers, toes AND my eyes that the girls actually get moved out this weekend. I am at the end of my rope here ladies. A copy of the e-mail I sent to the exchange organization about moving the girls sooner rather than later. honeylioness.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=milla&thread=234&page=1

Honey- I think you are a brand that women should aspire for: Confident, intelligent, able to lead a group, take constructive criticism or give it, but can still work alone. Can be a shoulder to cry on, but is strong enough to cry. Beautiful and delicate- but not weak. Recognizes their flaws, capitalizes on them. And God help you if you hurt her, her friends, or her family! (Or mess with the chocolate and vino stash )

Update: 10 NS day & 4 CS days
Good evening all,
Finished all the pps last night.
I did spend this weekend. Took advantage of HD 0% interest and stocked up on several things that I will need in the next few months.
Hope all of you have a good week.

Honey: I hope for your sake you lose those two brats by this weekend. You have so much to give and they are just too spoilt to appreciate it. Great post on mrsl's blog!
Went to a bag/purse party and bought nothing! Had fun though.

Update: 10 NSD
Delivered the bridesmaids dresses today, though I've still got to get some wrinkles out of the flower girl dress and get it hemmed to be delivered tomorrow. Work has started to get awful for the year again. And Mr. Potential wanted me to drive 1 1/2 hrs to see him after work tonight (stay the night there) then drive back in the morning... he suggested this even knowing that I have to be at work at 8 am. It's tough enough to get me to work at 8 am when I'm 3 blocks away, but over 100 miles away? Forget it. I'm exhausted after 9 hrs at work, 4 hours working on dresses, and barely scarfing down a chicken strip for dinner. Breakfast... didn't happen. So I'm having pizza at 10:30 pm and I don't feel bad about it a bit.
Now for more.... Tales from Retail Land (oh the horror!) Dear Jerks Customers, I'm sorry, did you just admit in public, out loud, that you're too lazy to carry around an item that weighs less than half a pound, carry a hand basket, or push a shopping cart? And so you want to block 2/3 of our workspace by spreading your crap out on our counters? Do other stores let you do that? Yes, I'm going to freak out a little bit if you little monsters darlings climb on the outside of the shopping cart. Why? Because one little girl knocked over a cart in our store and had to be taken in for stitches. And because a baby in it's car seat fell out of a cart back east and DIED. So I'm going to keep freaking out a little bit when your little monsters darlings do things that are clearly a bad idea. I think it's a great idea to let your toddler run around the store unsupervised with a pen. In fact, I'm thinking of stationing one of my employees near the door and passing out pens and sharpies to all children who CAN'T EVEN TALK YET so they can draw on anything they want. Your pre-teen talks to you like that because YOU LET THEM! And then, not only do you let them talk like that, you spend $50 on them. Great parenting. Attention parents of perpetually screaming babies/toddlers/children. We'll be happy to put your shopping cart aside, untouched, for as long as you like if you'll give your child the attention that they so clearly desperately need. Really. It's fine. Step outside, calm junior down, drop him off with grandma, and come back. We'll still be here. And nothing in the store is life-and-death. Or even all that perishable. If you're clueless and you know it come back later! Really. If you know you need a lot of help and you can see that we're swamped, you'll get more and better help (and make everyone in the known universe happier as well) if you'd just come back in an hour or two, or maybe tomorrow morning, when we're not as busy. And a final note. Sale signs are not that complicated people. They indicate a brand or type of item that's being discounted, the amount of the discount, and the price range of the items included in the sale. Just like the soup aisle. Sometimes Campbells is on sale, but it's right next to the Progresso. That doesn't mean the Progresso is on sale. And it doesn't mean that the crackers on the other side of the aisle are on sale either. Signed, Is it January yet?

Reenee: You can hang in there. I found out by working retail enough that it wasn't for me unless it was a parttime job. Lousy hours, pay and benefits! What are you going to go to school for? You probably have already said but I have the memory of a peanut!
Dealing with a headache today but it was probably self induced. Ignoring my renter. I swear the current one is the WORST renter ever. She calls me for every little detail. I mailed my $30 check, you're not going to charge me a late fee are you? I want you to fix everything even though everything passed inspection blah blah blah. I much preferred my last renters who were probably dealing drugs out of the house!

Afternoon all -- I've taken advantage of the beautiful weather yesterday and today and walked outside. I lost my desk keys, probably while walking. Ah well, new keys are being cut for me. The skirt that I am wearing today is too big. I can't quite figure out what is going on with my body. The scale nor my measurements have moved; maybe the cellulite is going away. Yippee.
reenee -- Retail has a way of drawing the ire of many -- employees and customers alike. Bless you. I've been there as an employee, though not to that extreme. A child in the grocery store almost ran into me with the cart on Saturday. The look I gave him, he knew he was wrong; maybe my look was why the parent/guardian said nothing to the child as well. honey -- great post on the blog. Oh, you need the girls to be gone like yesterday. dakota -- kudos to you for taking time for yourself. You deserve it. mizbear -- any update on your DGM?

They released DGM to come home. Glad I am not there. She started talking to people that weren't there again and even threatened me! I told my aunt and she was trying not to laugh because the behavior is not characteristic for my DGM but she is concerned. However, none of my DMs siblings want to make a decision that could potentially P*** DGM off because they are all worried about her having another stroke or heart attack. I told DMs doctor (I have the same doctor) this morning that if anything happens to my DM because of their inaction I am going to get 10 feet tall, 10 feet wide and ugly. She said I am going to have help. The worst part is I am sick. I have some sort of respiratory something. They aren't sure what yet- which is irking the doc. Nothing on the x-ray but she can hear it. SHe can see it in my peak flo readings. I did get a new lead for my business- that was good.
reenee- There is a reason I am no longer in retail.
I am falling asleep at the computer. Will update tomorrow when I am sort of off from DGM/DMs.

14/27 NSD
I HAVE A NEW 5' BY 7' BAY WINDOW IN MY LIVIVG ROOM!!!!!
No inside trim or outside siding yet, but it will happen. So much more light. The kitties are still avoiding it- it smells like raw wood and strange men that don't belong in THEIR house. I need to spend some "quality" time with them so more another time.

Update: 14/20 $0 Days
Hoping today will end up a no spend but I have to see how it plays out. It's MEA (4 day weekend for the schools in MN). DS is having a sleepover tonight and it's the big cross town rivalry game (Our high school's are calling Town East and Town West). DS goes to West but we live in East's district. The game is at the University (so no team has an advantage). So if the boys go to the game it will cost me some money for tickets ($5 each) and popcorn money for the boys.
reenee: I love hearing the retail horror stories but feel so bad for you that customers can be so horrible. How rude!
mizbear: I apologize if this is something I just missed- regarding your DGM have they done a CT Scan or anything? My DGP died from a form of brain cancer (genetic- we have been told). His behavior was very similar to how you are describing your DGM. He would get very angry about things that happened 40 years ago. He saw one of my uncles and started yelling at him about mowing over DGM's rose bush when he was mowing the lawn as a kid.
Took your advice and have been emailing my dad about the whole family drama from last week. Everything came to a head on Friday and it was dad, Dbro and I all yelling. Horrible Horrible. But Dad started emailing me that night and we have had some nice lengthy email discussions and gotten a lot of issues resolved. DBro is still an ass and I try to avoid him as much as possible. But things are slowly getting better between my dad and I. Haven't broached the subject with my mom yet because she is actually currently speaking to me this week.

Update- 10/NS, 15 NEO
Yesterday was a spend, Kids.woot had a cool 3D dino puzzle for 4 year olds, after looking at the cost on other sites figured it was about 55% off when you included shipping from other outlets, so I got it. Three of the puzzles are over 2 ft long. I'll hold on to it for his birthday or if we get snowed in and he is going stir crazy.
MizBear- Hope DGM is doing better. Sometimes if there is health is deteriorating po'ing them is the better course of action.
Shelia- Glad things are a little better with your family
Honey- Hope that the girls are gone this weekend.
Sapphire- Yeah on loose clothes. If I lost my desk keys I'd be SOL. I've actually tried to have a copy made and they said it was impossible. I'd probably have to have the back of the desk taken off to disable the lock. Someone tried to break into my desk once (I have petty cash in there) and destroyed the keyhole, but didn't get it open. Now I only have one set of drawers that lock.
All- Need recommendations for good workout music. I prefer Classic Rock, Hard Rock and 80 Hair bands. I also like Jazz and Classical.

dakota- I will copy down one of my playlists for walking that encompasses that rock thing- it has stuff like Manfred Mann's Blinded By the Light as a warmup, Twisted Sister's We're Not GOnna Take It, Ozzy's Crazy Train, and Quiet Riot's semen On Feel the Noize. Another good choice is anything in the disco era- Bee Gees, Jigsaw's Sky High, etc. sheila- Yes. They have done CTs and stuff. Say there is nothing (I'm beginning to believe when they say nothing, they mean zero, zip, nada ). I think part of the actual issue going on is between my mother and her siblings and they need to resolve it. I don't really care about their childhood scraps. As far as any of them having issues with having to help raise me or their parents taking time to help raise me- uh- sorry I didn't pick my parents. Glad things are getting better with your family. I am thinking about staying home today other than going out to pick up a coffee (coffee pot is in the dishwasher- grrrr) and drop off a catalog to a potential client. Then I can clean and do homework and do business stuff. Even if I have to go over there later. Tonight I will write up a full update and update the updates in the CS/NS chart.

dakota - Living on a Prayer (Bon Jovi), I can't Dance (Genesis), The only Difference (Wallflowers), Hey Jealousy (Gin Blossoms), Eye of the Tiger (survivor - Yes I feel like Rocky when I am running hills to that song), Its my life (Bon Jovi), Why don't you get a job (Offspring), How about that (Bad Company), Beer (Reel Big Fish), Maybe I'm wrong (Blues Travelor), Up (Shania Twain). That is my secular workout playlist although I have a few more country songs. I also have a christian playlist as well.

Thanks everyone for the kind words about my blog post. And a special Thank You to Mrs Lynch to putting it out there. mizbear - I am very tempted to let your nieces have at the one student, but it sounds as though you have enough drama going on in your life for several people. I hope things calm down a bit once your grandmother is back home and settled. Hope the doctor can deal with that respiratory thing soon. SES - I had to laugh at the cats' reaction to strange people and items in THEIR house. It sure does seem at times that we live solely to make our furry childrens' lives comfortable. Heck, even if the worse happens and I run out of unemployment I know I will be eating ramen and cereal three times a day so that I can afford the cats' regular food. sheila - Man, I feel for you with all of your family drama as well. And my heart aches hearing about the difficult relationship you have with your mother. However, as awful as I am sure the confrontation was last week, I am glad to hear you and your father are communicating. Too bad we can't ship mizbear's brother, your brother, my students, 3cats son, startsmart's uncle and a few other people onto an isolated boot camp somewhere and let them get some manners and reality kicked into them. reenee - Oh boy, I have been in your store with those people. (Not your store specifically but the chain one located nearby). I will confess that I have been known to pile some bolts onto the end of a counter while I picked out other items. But ONLY after asking an associate if it was okay (so they wouldn't put them back into stock) and NEVER during a rush time. If you ever see on television a story about a woman arrested for assault and battery on a child in a JoAnn's - that will probably be me. Though to be fair I never actually touched the brat - just told her that if she grabbed the pattern book I was going through one more time and closed it during the moment I looked down to make note of the pattern number - I was going to rip her arm off her body and beat her to death with the bloody end. Then when her mother appeared from wherever she had been hiding, with her cell phone glued to her ear and snarled at me for threatening her kid I stood, went toe to toe with her and said "If you would spend more time being a parent and less time pretending you are so important that you have to be on your cell all the time, then I would not have to do it for you."*Sigh* I hate it when I stoop to their level. But must admit the snickers of those around as she stormed off and I sat down was rather gratifying. As were the "thank yous" from several people afterward. I have to admit though I did laugh at the section about the sale signs. I mean really people - the sign says red dot = $, yellow = $$, green = $$$. And there are the same colored dots on the end of the bolt. So just because it got misplaced (probably by a customer's monster) why do you think you should get a green dotted item for $ ? I am constantly amazed by the hutzpah of some people. dakota - Here are some idea straight off my iPOD. And yes I know - it is a very eclectic mix of music.
