I have a friend who when his wife died all of a sudden became a millionaire due to life insurance and other benefits. He has zero investing experience and came to me for advice. I walked him through the total market index strategy like I do and a dividend strategy, also mentioned buy and hold was key. I also showed him various websites, this one, bogleheads and a couple others and said to park it in a high yield savings until he could do some reading on his own. He first wanted to strike it risk with penny stocks and day trading. Talked him out of that and now he wants to buy high dividend stocks right before the dividend is declared and sell immediately after it is paid. So anyway it has gotten frustrating, had I not been there he would have probably done both.

Some people have to learn from their mistakes before they can really learn the right way. They don't do the Research that goes into investing. Aj, jmo but if he is hell bent on penny stocks and day trading tell him to put 50,000 in a trading act. and talk to you in 6 months. lol

Wow, that is nice, just added STAG to my port two days ago. But VFC price is off lately. Thank goodness the dividend is solid. ( Under Armor really tanked taking apparel shares down.)

Sold FSC because they cut their dividend.
Sold at $5.15 and bought at $5.95 per share - 840 shares x $5.95 = $ 4,998 ; Sold at 840 x $4,326 + $302.40 Dividends so I lost $ 369.60 on the purchase.
I bought 200 more shares of VGR to replace it. VGR pays a dividend next month so the 200 shares will bring in $80 in additional dividends so reduces my lost a little bit there also. Sometimes you lose.

Sold Washington Prime Group (WPG) today and replaced it with additional shares of Capital Care Properties (CCP) !
My dividend income remained basically unchanged - I just think CCP is the better long term investment. With a current yield of 9.25% it also provides great income. WPG on the other hand operates Malls that are generally no doing so well. Retail is undergoing some changes and challenges, especially for the bog box retailers as more people move towards online shopping.
I know I am one of them, I don't think I bought a single item out of a store this past Christmas, 100% online.

VA >>>> Looks like CCP should be a reasonable choice for growth & dividends. Healthcare for the aging will always be in need. I'll test the waters with you with a few lots of the stock.

I wish you well Mod --- It seems like a good pick - It is recommended by Brad Thomas , an expert in REITS. He is seldom wrong

It is fairly new, so no long term track record on earnings and dividends, but healthcare for our aging population is always in demand. Brad Thomas should know what a decent investment it may be. We have to give CCP time (a few years) there may be some little bumps in the road as it grows which may be a bit shaky as earnings could go down in some quarterly reports. No road is perfectly smooth. Long term will tell the tale.

I have owned this one since August 2016 - Bought it at $13.10 per share (14% yield) - Now it is at $16.51. It is a mortgage servicing company so the share price can be volatile but I view it as a safe income stock - So far I have been more than happy with it. In my humble opinion it is a safe bet for income.
