to answer the question "Why then don't you switch brokerages?"; I would as I have another Brokerage I do have an Account with, if I could get full Options privileges with that brokerage. Unfortunately, that Brokerage has told me that they won't extend full options privileges unless I had $1m; which I do not have. Have you checked with Schwab? I have under 1m but they set it at what I requested and have been very easy to work with (I have margin privileges but have never used it, comes standard with my options level) Thanks for a great link!

Talk about bad timing !
The other day ( Thursday) I bought a stock (GEO) --the order was filled @ about 11 AM 185 shares @ $31.32. I went to eat lunch came back to the computer - looked at the screen and GEO was down over $12 per share ! I didn't know what to think - I had just seen $2,500 disappear in a few minutes. At this point I saw the news that the government was shutting down it's contracts with private prisons. But then the panic really started -
Do I sell and cut losses? Do I buy more shares and lower my cost share?
I really did not know what the right move was - I searched everywhere for answers and direction. I even went to the companies website - ---- nothing !
I ended up deciding to wait it out over night and seeing what would happen the next day (Friday). The futures were indicating a 12% rise in price so it calmed me a little and I have since decided to keep the stock for now and keep a close eye on it for direction.
This points out the dangers of investing - you never know when something is going to pop out of nowhere and bite you. But it also points out the value of spreading your investments over many stocks to limit these types of losses.
Wow what a week !
Hope you guys had a better one !

Ombud
Over the years as I have pretty regularly looked at other brokerages; as each has different pluses & minuses.
With Schwab I have never been able to find any information as to whether they charge a fee for Paper Statements & Confirmations (In context where I am doesn't as long as I maintain status {15 trades over 3 months or $100k account balance}; Scotttade does at $1 a pop; which in my case would have meant over $1,300 in those fees last year alone).
I do keep electronic records; but I also am one who is set on also keeping Paper Hard Copies of everything (I have receipts from 10 years ago; same can be said of past utility bills and any other business I have done over the years). I am one of "those people".
Aside from that; moving accounts is a pain in the a**, and I don't have the capital to capture the current "bonus" from Schwab (500 Free Stock or Options Trades {up to 20 contracts} for 1 year with the transfer or deposit of $100,000 in Cash or Securities).
Realistically, I would have to make a move in 2 transfers, the first to establish the account and get it "live"; while leaving the current account active so I can still work in the interim. The 2nd to completely move over. This is a problematic issues, due to among other concerns day to day maintenance requirements associated with what I actually do.

I tried CXA for diversification but it got closed / delisted / liquidated and the process is rather confusing. Actually had a sell order in, it crossed but did not sell, so now I'm waiting. I'm thinking of buying AT&T instead as I'm more used to stocks than I am bonds or Bond ETFs. Input appreciated
My reason for looking at it: EPS (07/21/2016) $2.3159 PE 17.65 Forward P/E 14.29 PEG 1.87 so higher than my norm but it would be a long term holding

It will be hard to go wrong with AT&T in the long run. Take a look at OHI (Medical Reit) or LAMR ( a REIT that has those annoying road signs on the Highways ) but a good steady business with very little overhead expenses.

Verizon Raises Dividend 2% !
Quarterly dividend goes from .565 per share to .5775 per share or $2.31 per share annually ! Also a note to Ombud - AT&T should raise it's dividend in December so you might want to take that into consideration - always nice to get those raises !

How sweet it is, just bought a few full lots of VZ this week. Looking at T to pick up next week or two. Quite successful VFC trade yesterday with repurchase of shares sold last week at 5 points lower price with ex-dividend date coming next week. Once in a while things break "your way"

The Virginian, if you're still interested in GEO that would've been a great one to play last week! 😜 Portfolio.com/slicer is a great idea but won't come up for me. Your excel sheet works great BTW My fingers are getting itchy after CXA deposit. So I am on the hunt for 5-10 new acquisitions: T - limit order in BAC - sold Put, now want it, no idea why I don't just let this one ride 😞 PFG 😞 RDC 😞 HUN

Yesterday was a BLOODBATH ! With the DOW dropping about 400 points I took quite a hit. This post is for myself as much as anyone else. I have to remind myself of what my personal objectives are from time to time. While it is nice to see my portfolio grow in value over time in times like this I have to step back , take deep breaths and remind my self that my objectives are producing income streams. While yesterday was rough, and who knows what this coming week will bring, my Income stream from my portfolios - REMAINS INTACT. In fact it will increase by the end of the month as Dividends keep rolling in. The value of my portfolios will go back up eventually but by being a Dividend Income Investor the money flow continues. On Friday I actually was buying stocks and I saved some for this coming week. I have 6 more stocks to add, hopefully at bargain prices so it will increase my desired income. Stopping some of my drips gave me a little more extra money to play with. So bottom line - My portfolio values dropped a good bit yesterday - But my income is intact. Overall this pull back was an extreme reaction to a .25% increase in interest rates and is a good thing for investors. A market that goes straight up without pullbacks now and then is dangerous. This will allow the market to gain momentum again (I hope)

I hope to add more T on Monday Morning . It's dropped about 8% from its high so a really good entry point IMO. The nearly 5% Dividend is icing on the cake. Also looking to add more OHI (6.75%) & GAIN (8.55%) .

Still holding my OPK (non-divi) for capital gains (hoping to sell this fall season). Will add more divi stocks with proceeds, (PFE & T).

Phillip Morris (PM) has raised it Quarterly Dividend 2% !
Previous Dividend - $1.02 per share - New Dividend $1.04 per share Old yearly Dividend - $4.08 per share - New Yearly Dividend $4.16 per share ! Not bad considering the currency environment with the strong dollar affecting profits.

Pfizer (PFE) Decides to remain as one Company and not spit into two. While I am disappointed I trust the company's leadership.
Pfizer is down about 10% off it's highs and as such is a great opportunity for those that have been thinking about buying shares to do so in my humble opinion.

I now have quite a few shares of PFE and hope the upward move today is just a start. Also added more HBI too. Both opportunities at low prices for long term.

Realty Income (O) Increases Dividend !
Realty Income has increased it's Monthly per share Dividend to .2020 which is a .2% increase.
I don't own Realty Income because I always think it is too expensive but it is a real quality stock that I always wanted to own. It has an additional advantage in that it is a monthly dividend paying stock which makes it great for those that depend on their dividends for Income.
Just a note : I post information about Dividend stocks that I currently own or that I have on my buy list. I currently have about 100 stocks that I own and around 150 total including the wish list. I welcome anyone that wants to post their own stocks here also. I like it because it serves as a historical record for stocks that we follow and from time to time I come to reference comments that I or others have made.
