Welcome, nit! Just would suggest sites like SeekingAlpha.com, Finviz.com and MarketWatch.com (among many on-line financial sites) as references when researching stocks. I am sure others will "chime in" with their suggestions. I would not try to give specific stocks recommendations; but a review of the various threads, such this Dividend Stock Investing, the Long Term Stock Investing, etc., all have references to stocks that could be of interest to you. The various threads have an abundance of info and opinions. Read and I am sure you will find a good treasure trove of excellent information. Happy and prosperous investing to you!

Welcome to IBB.
Some of my go to places to research companies are:
{1} Finviz. This site will give you a quick comprehensive "tear sheet" look at a couple dozen different metrics for any given stock.
finviz.com/
{2} The EDGAR data base. This is a site provided by the S.E.C. and allows one to gain access to a wealth of company filings. If it has been filed with the S.E.C. and it is public knowledge you can find it here.
www.sec.gov/edgar/searchedgar/companysearch.html
{3} Google Finance. A got to for quick and easy historical price look ups & current crosscheck info.
{4} A companies Investor website. Nothing like getting information from the horses mouth.
{5} Get Split History. Want to know if a company has ever split; when and for what divisor (2 for 1, 3 for 2, etc.)? Curious as to why it might look like a companies stock has fallen nearly straight down for no reason? It might have been a split.
getsplithistory.com/
{6} Looking for information on a Preferred Stock. Quantum Online is a good resource.
quantumonline.com/Index.cfm
{7} Want a quick look at how risky or safe-ish a particular stock may or may not be. Risk Metrics can give you a quick idea to consider.
www.nasdaq.com/investing/risk/riskgrade.aspx
{8} Need a quick third party look at an ETF? ETFdb is a good resource.
etfdb.com/
{9} Curious what a term like P\E, P\B, ALPHA, BETA or similar Financial terms & concepts mean or represent? Investopedia is a good resource.
www.investopedia.com/
------------------------------------------- All the above are good resources to have at hand and to use as tools to help research potential investments/trades.
Ultimately though, what you invest in; how you invest comes down to your personal "box". Your personal "box" is the combination of:
{A} Your personal Risk Tolerance {B} Your personal "Flavor" of choice (Do you like high powered names, sleepy names, growth stocks, value stocks) {C} Your personal "tilt". Are you more conservative, aggressive, a go with the flow type, a die hard contrarian? {D} Are dividends really important to you or not so much?
Keep in mind that your job when investing is to Protect & Grow your capital to the best of your ability. And to that end you should always keep the principal of BUY LOW; SELL HIGH close at mind.
Being able to recognize, identify and excise a loser from your portfolio is not a sign of weakness or lack of smarts; but rather a chance to gain some knowledge from the why & what of your thinking. Which then in turn can help over the longer term to make you stronger and better at the pursuit.
Conversely don't allow yourself to get to exuberant or euphoric, if & when you might have a run away winner. That could lead to much riskier behavior which can prove extremely deleterious to success.
One final personal insight:
Unless you are going to invest as a living (JOB); it is probably really not a good idea to check your portfolio 5 times a day or even 5 times a week. It will drive you nuts, as the markets can go from PARTY to HANGOVER is a split second; depending on the day & who is running their mouth at any given time.
You can trust me on that one; I know it to be true; this is all I do (Investing\Trading).
And don't be afraid to ask questions; folks around here will give you as best an answer as they can from their personal perspective.
Again Welcome to IBB & good luck in the journey.

nlt, my screener parameters are: ♤ dividend yield > 1 ♡ S&P capital IQ equity star rating 4-5 ◇ PEG (price-earnings-growth) < 1.5 ♧ average 10 day volume > 200 ☆ price 5 - 80 □ SER percentile 1-15 Puts me at 11 options for today on Schwab. Then I drill those down. And they've been basically the same for the last month. Another way to do it is to start with the top 25 dividend aristocrats

What a week so far. BenchMark tough so far, and needs to "loosen up" to let a few slip by.

Portfolios hit a new high today - 800 points away from the DOW record. Sometimes it is hard to stay the course and not panic but it always pays off to do so.

Yeah. Played the limit game instead of DCA at whatever level in the Roth. Lost. Stuck it in @ market in the legacy account & it's up drastically (7.73% since buying 2/8/16). Go figure I need to just trust my instincts. If I like it, buy it

Have recently added shares of FSFR, HRZN, HTGC & ORC to get more dividend income. NOTE: Found a new Sr. Living Care facility and put in a deposit for space when they have a vacancy. Tired of microwave meals and living alone for over 16 years. I'll have med care, food served in dining room and friends around, and a staff available 24/7 (as may be needed) to help me. Will try to remain active on our threads following the move, the place in fully Wi-Fi and I will keep computer. grandpalmsalf.com/photo-gallery/ Only a mile from current condo.

Looks like a really nice place Mod ! Glad you are planning on staying active here on the boards ! We tried to get something like that for my mother but she thought of them as "Nursing Homes " and wouldn't even look into them. They have come a long way and give you help without taking your Independence.

Thanks, VA. There are facilities that are staffed for differing levels of care as may be required, One has to look around for the right place that will meet one's needs. This facility is very new and has a separate memory care section available as well. Thankfully, my brain and memory functions are "younger" than some body parts do function, although am in fairly good shape for advanced age. (A close friend of mine found this place and thought it would be a great place for me since they have excellent medical staff available and food served is very good.) Emily (late wife) and I took out LT Care insurance in 1993 and it will help pay the rent. (Yippie!). Will allow me to add shares of dividend stocks each month, will definitely help should I outlive policy limits.
It pays to plan ahead, just in case of need.

Never fear, I'll be wearing a suit of armor, and carry a sword. They will not get close to me!!
Have to wait for a vacancy before I get there; in the meantime getting prepared to vacate the condo and sell it when the time comes. Will buy 100K of dividend stocks and then buy more shares from the monthly/quarterly intake. No worries. Will just be moving one mile.

Looks like $30 was the bottom in Oil price. We should ( Hopefully ) start seeing a lot of annual Dividend increase announcements soon.

Still at all time highs in accounts even though they are a mixed bag today. It looks like we may be in for a bit of a see-saw ride for the rest of the year. Still staying 100% Invested in the market.

Omega Health Investors declares .58 per share per quarter dividend. This represents an increase of 1.8 %. It is the second increase this year - January also saw a 1.8% increase.'

PepsiCo {PEP} is a decent company. They currently pay $2.81 per year {$0.7025 per quarter}. They have raised the dividend amount every year for quite a long time, typically in June.
Hasn't disappointed me in all the time I have held it and I have held it since before the 2007-early 2009 economic train wreck.
Just a thought.

Well - Play with fire and you are sure to be burned eventually - It has happened to me with CLMT ! It cut it's dividend, dropped 31% in after hours trading and will surely drop even more on Monday as there are rumors of bankruptcy. I have a sell order in but I still expect to lose more than half of my investment but fortunately I limited these risky investments to only $ 2,000 each.
Live and Learn !

The DOW briefly hit 18,000 today ! I've lost track of how many times we have crossed this threshold now but it (the Market) has basically been going nowhere now for well over a year. Yet many are still screaming the DOW is overvalued. Maybe, but it is not because the market has gotten ahead of itself but rather because the metrics of ratios between companies earnings and revenues have declined making the market to be overvalued. I'm not sure falling metrics are the same as a run away market but some are certainly perceiving it that way.
