Why do you believe the bible is true ?

God is the only one who prepares the heart to believe in him! No amount of back and forth opinions or truths, as we see truth, will change until God removes the veil.. That's my/the truth and I'm sticking to it.

You believe in your heart God exists because you believe the bible is true, your faith is not in God but in the bible.

It is clearly obvious that the bible is not telling the truth on a lot of things, in my mind this is enough to question its overall accuracy.

I like Douglas Adam's proof that God does not exist:

I think he's saying that if someone just started talking to you that you wouldn't know who they are *what to call them until they identified themselves.

Of course, part of my faith is based on the written word. The two, God of the Bible and his word are hand in glove as it were/is. The written word house the truths about God.

Creation boasts the majestic glory of God. I believe the beauty of nature is true, but my hope is not in nature. My faith and hope is in God. Proof that God exists is all around me and you my dear Tosh, can't make me doubt him.

The tens of thousands of different identifies of god and their associated religions are not a testimony to God's clarity.

All of this confusion could have been avoided if God had wrote his own book, his mistake was to use humans as messengers, we are not very reliable.

No. But it could be a testimony to God's brilliance. What if God knew that humans could not all be convinced to beleive the same story. So God decided to created tens of thousands of stories that people could beleive in in their own way, thereby reaching more people.

I make no claim to disproving the existence of God, but I can claim to prove the bible is not true in all its contents.

Genesis:

1:1 - In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
1:2 - And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
1:3 - And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
1:4 - And God saw the light, and it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.


This is not true, the sun was formed before the earth, God did not create the earth in the dark, however it would explain some rather unpleasant anomalies.

Some 100,000 years ago in Africa, humans evolved full awareness or consciousness, this brought good news and bad news.

The good news was we became aware we were alive, the bad news was we became aware of death.

Not really oh wise one, if I can prove the bible is not true and your beliefs are based on the bible, then logically your beliefs are not true.
