I am sure my neighbors think I am completely nuts. No doubt, but who cares? Me and my boyfriend had a nice bike ride together last night. I am about to take off for my walk/run this morning. Well, tomorrow it is back to work. I am going to cook up my meals for lunches and dinners for the rest of the week. Work days are a little difficult for me, but I am determined to make this work. I am also going to put workout clothes in my car so that I can hit the gym directly after work, despite all the new year resolution people........

I don't like having to locate threads. It is too early in the morning to make me hunt for them.

Sorry ImaAngel I could never remember where it was - Smart Spending, EE, etc so I asked Moonbeam to move it to a place that I thought would be easier for everyone to find and maybe get more people to participate.

Hi guys. I'm back in as well. Carbs are death to me. Back on Atkins. Not just for the weight loss itself, but it also seems to get rid of that layer of fat. If you know what I mean. I have one pile of chocolate to get out of the house.

From late March last year through the end of 2010, I lost 41 pounds -- went from 261.5 (the heaviest I've ever been ) to 220.5. I'm hoping to drop another 30-40 pounds this year.

Drat, I really blew it tonight ... ate three big slices of pizza with eight toppings. Now have to take a couple of Tums, those anchovies (or whatever) are backing up. Well, back to Lean Cuisine or bust! Need to lose 7 pounds to get back to normal. Guess the treadmill, aerodyne bike and weights are going to get an extra minute or two each day for the month.

We did good for dinner tonight. I cooked a beef roast and we had brussel sprouts. I took the left over roast beef and made sandwiches for lunches tomorrow. Tomorrow I will have an orange and a carrot for morning break. For lunch I will have a roast beef sandwich and 2 peach halves. In the afternoon there will be a cheese stick.

Hello Ladies,
I wanted to intruduce myself. I was originally on the msn boards, but I am now a refugee over here, lol. I had a baby 5 months ago and would like to loose a few extra pounds.
Well I look forward to reading your posts.

My goal is 40 lbs and or get down to a size 10. I'm between a 12 and 14 now so I'm not sure what weight that will happen at.

Today's the day I start. I wasn't going to focus on weight loss but I changed my mind. Several years ago I did a program called Strong Women Stay Slim program. The program counts portions similar to Weight Watchers. It also focuses on weight training. The more muscle you have the more calories you burn. I liked the program so I am starting it up again. I can eat anything I want, I just have to stick to my portions. Today Breakfast 1 cup of Whole grain cereal and 1/2 cup of milk. (1 Grain and 1/2 dairy) Snack 3 tablespoons of almonds. 1 Protein and 1 extra. Lunch will be bowl of chili 2 portions of Vegetables and 3 portions of Protein. I will workout at least 20 minutes of cardio and weight training. Is this post to anal?

I officially started last Monday with my first weigh-in, and did not drive myself batty by looking at the scale every day - I am training myself to only look once a week. And I decided that Monday would be the best since it helps keep me accountable on weekends. And I am happy to report a loss!
12/27 - 207.6 1/03 - 205.4
After straining a back muscle in November, I am also happy to report that I am now healed and have an appt with my trainer on Wed!

Hi All!
I'll probably lurk more than post at least for a month or two. I want to get rid of my unemployment weight gain first then I'll decide what's next.
Read a little of MSN's 500 calorie cutting slide show article but didn't see anything new or helpful. Hoping the snow continues to melt and it stays sunny so I can walk outside safely.

Happy Monday, Healthy Eaters!
Is everyone ready to get this new week, this new month, and this new year off to a great start, or am I strangely perky and optimistic all by myself here in central California? I must say that the sun is shining after about a solid month of rain ~ and that, in and of itself, is definitely brightening my day (and my spirits!)
I biked 10 miles this morning. It took about an hour and a half, but the sun was shining and the great outdoors were calling my name. (And I don't have one of those speedy bikes with lots of fancy gears ~ my bike is built for comfort!) It was nice to get out and about in the neighborhood ... I saw lots of cats, gave a treat to a nice dog, and even had a neighbor tell me that I was "looking good!" Hmm... I must really do this biking thing more often! (grin)
After lunch, I'm off to run a few errands: mail a box to my wonderful DH at the post office, pick up a prescription or two at CVS, and then pick up some fresh veggies at the grocery store: cucumbers, shredded carrots, mung bean sprouts, tomatoes, broccoli and some romaine. (I will see what else may be on sale, but I know I still have fresh green beans and fresh zucchini.) Oh, and maybe some radishes. It's rather amazing the sheer quantity of veggies I manage to go through in just a few days.
YAY! Less than a month until my wonderful DH is scheduled to come home from Iraq!

One of the things I mentioned in a different thread is that I wear a body monitor, so I know how many calories I burn in a day. And how many steps I take. And how close I am to meeting my goal. This has been a very fractured day. I've done some housework, talked to some friends on the phone, posted here, had company twice. And then the kids came home from school and I have dinner mostly prepared. Generally, just the way most of my days go. I start out with a plan and adjust along the way. So, I never got the 45 minutes I was planning for on the elliptical, Instead, I've done 4 random sets of 30 jumping jacks while in the kitchen because in my old house, that's the only place where one jumps. I also ran across the porch, down the stairs through the driveway and back up the other stairs twice while getting the mail. Not a lot, but more than it would be if I just opened the front door and got the mail because the mailbox is right outside the door. Plus, the usual up and down the stairs etc. I purposely put a few extra steps into everything I do. It all adds up over time. It gives me more focus on what I'm supposed to be doing and and gives me less time for stuffing my face.

What do you guys snack on during the day? I need to chew (frustration reliever). I usually eat carrots or apples (or chew gum). Do you have any other healthy suggestions?

I started my food journal today. If I am going to have any kind of success I have to write down everything I eat. I didn't plan well for today and had too many carbs but it is all written down and I can go on from here.
