no Land of Lost Threads, this is a good one! so did anyone manage to watch the Pats-Chargers game yesterday? I was playing hockey, and could only catch score updates between periods. I heard stories of an excellent interception by Vince Wilfork, and the tackle that was almost literally heard 'round the world. sorry, Spydah. I know you were rooting for your Chargers. but I think this season's Pats have a higher power pushing them along. RIP, Myra.

"but I think this season's Pats have a higher power pushing them along." Probably ought to give Brady a bit of the credit too Almost 1,000 passing yards in two games is ridiculous!

I live in metro Chicago (north side) which automatically tends to make me a Bears (Cubs) fan. After last weeks game against the Falcons I was asking myself if the Bears were that good/underrated this year or if the Falcons were that bad. Decided Sun that the Falcons are just THAT BAD. We seem to be having the SAME issues w/the offensive line that have been there for years. Mike Martz needs to call more running plays and Cutler needs to be able to audible. ~Whiskmav Saddled With Lovie Smith Still

Chicago is playing Green Bay this Sun. I hope, after seeing the Saints game last week, that Cutler is not hurt and that I have the fortitudeto watch the game.
Oh well. I do plan a cook-a-thon to go w/game watching.

Lol, Whisk...I always tell my buddy (from Texas) that Dallas is where strippers go to get coke snorted off their butts by Josh Hamilton . Hey Dallas pulled it off last week. Romo actually didn't collapse spectacularly which is kind of impressive with the rib and lung deal.

haha, no worries. to quote WVU from the weekend - you can't suck as bad as we did yesterday and expect to win. granted there were a couple very lucky picks, but they weren't all lucky. and when you're up 21-0 at the end of the 1st, you really should have the game in hand. congrats, your guys really earned that win.

To be perfectly honest, I am not a big BILLS fan and I didn't even watch the game. I saw the score on the post-game show and my jaw dropped to the floor.

yeah, it was pretty ugly. I was getting my pedi during 4th quarter, and the shop has Sunday Ticket. we were flipping through most of the games until we saw Buffalo go up a TD. the TV stayed on that game until the end.

I was shocked when I saw that at half time of the night game. I took an extended nap Sunday afternoon. And as I thought there were more interceptions in that game than Brady normally has in a whole season.

I was in Reno for the weekend (where Oakland games are considered the home market) so got to spend Sunday afternoon on the couch watching. We lost to the Pats. I wasn't happy (as Iggy knows from elsewhere, I hold grudges) but the Pats are still one of the premier teams and we're climbing out of the canyon. There were ref calls that I disagreed with, but there was also Seymore making stupid, grudge mistakes on D that kept the Pats alive. Still, Campbell threw for over 300 yards- and we showed we can have an offense that doesn't rely soley on McFadden (bad for my fantasy team, but good for "my" team). I'll take 2-2. And if you look at the next few games, I'm betting on 7-2 (maybe 6-3 if Houston turns out to be tougher than I think next week)

Good Morning Iggy. Did you see me on TV? My son surprised me with tickets to game. We rolled into Houston around 11:30pm Saturday, got a good nights sleep, went to game and rolled back home around 1:30am this morning. I know people think that is crazy but Raiders won't get any closer to me this year!!! My son said on the way home he closed his eyes when ball was in air on last play. I asked him why and he said if it had been complete he had visions of bringing me home in a pine box RIP Al Davis and GOOOOOOOOOOOO RAIDERS

Is it bad that, as an Eagles fan, I am reveling in their failures this season? It's just so deserving!

Oh and I never revel in their failures, but I have been know to bet against them given the odds/point spread. I hang my head in shame admitting this

I fell asleep during the Bears/Lions game last night. I channel surfed briefly between the Brewer game and ESPN. I don't even remember DH coming to bed...

I will never root for them so long as he is on the field.

Iggy: Remember my conspiracy theory post on the other board? As much as I love the Raiders, I don't think they're Super Bowl caliber this year, but maybe next...
NoName & meghan: I have had a love/hate "relationship" (I put it in quotes because I never met the guy) with Al Davis for over a decade. The man did some amazing things and also some not so great things. I had wished for years that he would retire from running the Raider's operations and really leave it up to the very talented people he hired. (He's wasn't Jerry Jones, but he was still more involved than a lot of owners.) And I think that's fine. We care passionately about the team, but that doesn't mean we can't acknowledge bad decision, bad play, etc.
the Vick issue: I also root against Vick- not the Eagles, but Vick. One look at my avatar, and you're obviously not surprised. But regardless of his crime, I am actually against any person convicted of a crime being able to come right out of jail and into the kind of contract Vick got- really, anything that pays over $100k/year. This includes not just Vick, or other sports stars, but also white collar criminals. I think that any money a convicted criminal makes over $100k/year should be seized by the government, first to pay for the complete costs of their incarceration, and then to pay restitution to all victims/or pay for the care of victims. In the case of Vick (and many other NFL players who have served time for other crimes), their prison sentence is essentially a hiccup in their career. They may even "lose out" on millions of dollars in endorsement deals, but their income, paid by their teams (and therefore the fans) is still far more than most of those fans are ever going to earn. I believe in rehabilitation, but I also believe that there needs to be long term consequences for the rich and famous who get convicted of crimes, because a two year hiccup doesn't actually mean anything. (I specifically call out the rich and famous because most people who serve time do face long term consequences related to that- from having a hard time finding a place to live to getting a job that pays a living wage.)

Meghan, I wasn't thinking about the Vick issue when I replied. That explains your post. shanendoah's quote! I have had a love/hate "relationship" (I put it in quotes because I never met the guy) with Al Davis for over a decade. I actually met Al Davis many, many, many years ago at a meet and greet at Senior Bowl. Pro coaches and assistants descend during week of Senior Bowl. I went up to him and introduced myself as a life long Raiders fan. He laughed and said I didn't look old enough to be life long fan. Told him I became a fan at Super Bowl II. He laughed again and said "you do remember we got out butts kicked" He won me over then, but I do agree with you about acknowledging bad decision - I used to write letters every now and then and give him piece of my mind, not that anyone listened

shane, that is definitely one of my issues with him! Any schmoe who did a lesser crime would have trouble getting a $10/hour job after prison, let alone $100 million! Granted, Vick "only" gets to keep a few hundred thousand bucks because the rest goes to his creditors. Boo hoo.
He hasn't changed, he just says what people want to hear. I flipped last year when he said he can't get his daughter a dog. Are you f$&%*& kidding me?!

Watching hi lites hoping to see the 101 yd run. Guess will have to check it out online. But they showed the niners and lions coaches getting into a shoving match. Then they interviewed both coaches and one said "he shoved me" next thing you will hear is "did not" "did too" - what a bunch of titty babies.
