I do not post much- but I am on here almost every day. I have a question. What does anyone consider to be a good price for laundry detergent. I can only use Wisk because I break out from most other kinds. Dollar General has it (I think it is 32 loads) for $4 a bottle and I have numerous coupons for $2 off of each bottle. Is that a good price. Thanks in advance. To me that is a good price. I am content to pay some but others like to only get it free. If you pay $2 per bottle that's less than 15 cnts a load.

Buddy the Beagle just loves his pal the Rocket Man even though he's not a beagle. They have soooo much fun together. So you'll have a beagle named Milo and we have a kitty named Milo - Milo the Lizard Slayer - although he also slays mice, rats, gofers, ground squirrels, and birds. I forgot to mention that the vet ran several blood tests on Buddy before he had surgery and she told us that the results showed that he is EXTREMELY HEALTHY for his age. I think this goes to show that you don't HAVE to buy the most expensive pet food to have a happy, healthy pet. Buddy has eaten The Goodlife, Pedigree, Chef Michaels, and Hills Science Diet - all gotten for free or very close to it.

CVS DEAL ALERT
The weekly ad has "Get $2 EBs when you buy Multi-pack Crest, Fixodent, Glide, or Oral B (Limit 2). I did not see any multi-packs in my store, but I noticed that my CVS has the SINGLE tubes of Crest Complete Whitening + Scope 2.7 oz for $2.57 and get a $2 EB (Limit 2). The UPC code is 0 37000 17281 9. If you are desperate to roll EBs, this might help. My CVS did not have the St. Joseph's or the Colgate Optic White, so I substituted this Crest instead. Since it is under 3 oz. it will be perfect for DH to take on business travel.
HTH ;D

I'm a bit late on this, but OMG you've gotta be kidding me. The show has already ruined couponing for those of us who aren't 'extreme' now it's going to have people think we're all shelf-clearers!

Thanks Leanna. Sometimes Dollar General has a spend $25 get $5 off your order on Saturdays- so that would make it even better. I will hold onto my coupons and see what comes up.
I definately agree that prices are going up and I think it is only going to get worse.

Maybe it is me but I can't even figure out how to get excited about the thrill of the deal lately. Maybe it is just me but man are these ads BORING! If we didn't need to eat I doubt I would have set foot in a store in the past month and all good deals on the HBA stuff has come from shoprite not the nat chains. Hopefully this fall it will get better.

Ladies, Those who subscribe to the hound list may already know, but please keep lbmoore in your prayers. She has had a heart attack and is recovering now. Will be keeping her in my thoughts... Well ladies, I actually went to CVS and Wags today...LOL, nothing exciting, but, I had to go to the city for my post op doctors appointment and had a couple EB's and RR's that expired this week. I did get the free Crackerfuls CRT on both cards and darn it, forgot to stop at another store to use the second one! They are only good for a day, so, I won't be getting it...oh well...my mind is not functioning well yet I was very low on allergy meds and planned on getting the Allegra on sale at CVS. They were out, but the red machine spit out a $10 off Zyrtec! So, combined with a $2 peelie, that was a decent price, and I needed it. I bought one of the 3.69 CVS allergy meds so that I could at least roll a few EB's...but now I'm down to just that...oh well, I'm still going to be out of the loop for a bit. Then off to Wags to spend 2 1.50 Carmex RR's. I just bought the Scott PT's. Nothing really to roll and I don't want to worry about RR's til I get back to work with their short expiration. I dropped off about 8 bags full of donations to the church for the flood victims. Some of what I donated included toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, feminine supplies, TP, PT's, tissues, cleaning spray, Oust, soap, razors, body wash, deoderant, razors, shaving cream, etc. They were so thankful to receive it! Doctor appt went great. Doc said I'm a "good healer". Everything looks good. Can go back to work part time on 8/26, full time 2 weeks after if all continues to go well!

CVS: I went to see if their truck came in and mostly, no on the things I got rainchecks for. I did tell the manager to order me some Airwick I-motions. Before we left, the cashier told my sister that the CRT coupons for Reeses were good on the 10 packs, which were selling for $.99, so free candy bars for us.
Constanz: We were allowed to get rainchecks on the Crackerfuls.

I did my first hounding last nigt since mid-summer. Really wanted to do airwick deal but of course that was the one week I only had one paper. So not a MM but still good prices for the I motion and a few refills.
I got the Purina dog food $2.75 a bag; 3 boxes of special k for $5; 50¢ MM on refresh; and the free fig newtons. I need to go back for more cereal and some 50¢ dawn on other card.

I started a thread in Smart Spending on this but I know a few participants here do not go there. www.freenightoftheater.netThis is a place to obtain FREE theater tickets for some places for performances between 10/1-10/31. There are 13 states & about 16 cities on offer. You can request up to 5 pairs of tickets and have to do so by 9/23. Metro Chicago had a BUNCH of offerings, prob 20-25 different shows over the 4+ weeks and mostly Fri/Sat/Sun performances. They are supposed to let you know which, if any, you get by email.

I had some luck this past weekend at both CVS and WAGS, I did the Brilliant Tampon deal (give them to my daughter), and at WAGS I did the buy $30 of P&G products, get $10 RR. The cashier who checked me out said wow, that's a good deal, I had Q's for just about everything and she handed me the $10 RR.
Leanna, I think you mentioned about the Dawn going from 11 to 10 to 9 ounces, I checked the Dawn I bought, and in WAGs the ones I got on were still 11 ounces, on sale for $.99 and I had Q's too.
Nothing I got was quite free, but with the Q's and ECB/RR that were expiring shortly they were good shopping trips.
I've been using coupons since June, that's when I started being serious about it, and slowly my stockpile is growing. I sometimes have to slap myself up side the head though, I want to do some of these great deals that I hear about, but force myself to slow down, think it through so I don't spend too much in my excitement. I set a goal for myself to stockpile one item a week, like this week is Dawn. That's it, just the Dawn.
My rule of thumb for my stockpile is: 1. it must be on sale 2. use a Q (or two) 3. pay 20-40% of the retail price (or less) Most of the time it's not free for me, but if I can hit CVS or WAGS, buy several items with a combined retail price of $20, but walk out of the store and pay $5-$6 for the them, I consider it a successful trip. And each week I am spending less and less money on things, but am not running out of anything!
I know some of you ladies use a little folder with pockets in it -- where do you get them? I want to start cutting and keeping some Q's in my car on the popular things I get all the time, like toothpaste, toilet paper, razors, shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc. I won't cut out everything, but just those few things I use all the time, or tuck the loose Q's in there that I get from others.
My greatest find this weekend was -- another couponer in my condo complex. I had a cat visit my back deck on Sunday morning and I petted her, and her collar came off, and she would not let me put it back on her. Luckily her owners phone number was on it, so I called and returned it, was a woman I hadn't yet met yet who lives on the other side of my condo complex. When I returned the collar the woman was reviewing the Qs in Sunday's paper! She showed me around her condo, her floor plan is exactly like mine, and we compared notes that some areas she has more shelf space for stockpiling, and I have more in my unit. Overall a great visit, and a real bonus that she's a couponer too.

munjoyhill: What a great story! I love talking to fellow couponers. They seem to be the only ones that get what we do and why.
I have a small plastic accordian file that would fit in most of the big bags that women carry these days. I keep mine in a canvas tote (or command central, as my DH calls it). I bought mine at Target in the office supply section. You can create your own tabs for the various categories. This is where I put all the q's that I know I will use at some point. It's not a huge file--not quite the size of a legal envelope. There's an elastic band on the front that you use to close it.
So "command central" has all my individual store envelopes (Target, CVS, WAGS, etc) which contains the q's I'll be using, the store "dollars": EB's, UPs etc. and the tansaction written out because I like to keep it straight on paper--otherwise my poor brain gets confused. I keep a small calculator in there, and a pair of children's scissors. My CVS green tag is attached to the corner of one of the straps for easy access.
Some folks use a coupon binder but I find that would take me too much time as the papers around here do not have matching coupon inserts. I prefer to come on here, visit a couple blogs to see what deals there are for things we can use, or the kids can use. They may be adults but are all in school of some sort, pretty much broke because of that, so they like to shop at Murph Mart in our garage.

Constanz,
I have 4 of those q's. PM me your address & I'll get those in the mail to you. Just remember I am in Oregon, so if you are on the East Coast, it generally takes 4 days to get there.
Munjoyhill,
I love that you have the goal to just get one stockpile item per week. I was always a couponer, but never really a huge stockpiler until this year.
I have a similar focus. I don't need to buy 20 of an item at one time. I find that by the time you get 1-2 toothpastes or bodywashes a month, you can amass a fairly good sized stockpile very quickly. And you don't need to clear shelves or buy a million coupons or race out for every single deal.
It's kind of like fishing...let the deals come to you.
I wasn't the one who pointed out the size differences on the dish soap. I think it was Dancin Mama. But, boy oh boy is it the truth with the reduction in sizes of all products these days!

I love the fact that you're looking for one product per week that you need that is a really good deal. Some weeks there might not be anything at all that is at a rock bottom price. Don't be afraid to just take a pass that week and kick that $5 or $6 you would have spent into the next week. GREAT JOB!! ;D
