I know it does for me. It's cold here and there isn't much sun which equals less energy for me. How about if you are the warmer parts of the country. Does winter have any effect at all on your energy level? I'm like a bear in the winter or rather I'd like to be a bear in the winter and sleep right thru it.

In the winter it's too cold for me to do anything. In the summer it's too hot. In the spring it's too rainy. In the fall it's too windy.

Some members of my family get seasonal something or another disorder. They get more depressed and lethargic during the winter season. I heard it had more to do with available sunlight than cold temperature.

I get less energetic or ambitious in the winter. There's also a very common disorder called S.A.D. (Seasonal Affectiveness Disorder) that some people get when the daylight hours become shorter and the temperatures drop.

Yes, I do too. I'm in Florida but I still want to hibernate when it's cold. And I suffer horrible winter allergies and I feel sick almost the entire time. But I have so much fun with you all now that I no longer care. I use to go stir crazy when we have real winters.

I quess I'm lucky I have 3 good seasons. I think it's partly the lack of sun but the cold too. I just don't want to go out in it.

Seasonal Affective Disorder isn't related to temperature, just sunlight.

Yeah, S.A.D. is due to lack of sunlight, not so much the cold. I leave for work in the dark and come home in the dark, and I work in a big office building surrounded by other big buildings, so sometimes I don't have any idea if it's sunny or not. I'm soooooooooo glad the days are getting longer!

I just have a totally different routine in the winter. A lot more home maker projects. I used to absolutely hate winter but either they are mellowing out or I am.

Although the cold doesn't help either. I have to bundle up so much just to go anywhere that I'd almost rather just stay home. And usually I do.

Yah, but in Florida isn't cold considered anything under 75F?

I feel a little better just knowing I'm not alone feeling like this. I just started taking vitamin D that someone said could help. Have not noticed a difference yet. I'm watching the sky right now looking for that extra 60 seconds of sun also.

Xmascookie, you can get lights for SAD, you might want to look at that. Do some research though, there are some specific things to look for while anyone can label their lights as suitable to SAD they may not be.

Two gray days in a row make me want to kill. And I am one of those that anything below 75 is cold

I actually use one of those lights at work. They have one there for something else and I have found it to help a little when I'm at my desk, which isn't often. It's the wkends when I turn into a bear. My friends have almost given up on me. I tell them I will see them in April!

In the PNW, it's cold and wet this time of year, less active, less energy...please let spring come soon.

Definitely wet in the PNW. My neighbor is always complaining about the rain. I just told him it's going to rain here a lot. He seem to think come March it should be warm and dry, hahahahahahahahahaha.

I'm surprised even in Fla. I hate the cold. But we still have the sunshine so I don't get SAD. And I love to cook stews, soups, roasts, etc. so I do a lot of that which is nice. This is our first home that doesn't have a fireplace and I really, really miss that. Once I even had one in the bedroom too. That would be heaven if it could be a gas fireplace. I may put one in one day here or if/when we build again I'll make sure we do at least one. I always have a fire pit or fireplace outside. TD - I try to sound less pathetic and say under 70 degrees but it's really 75 degrees.

It was January when my (now ex-) husband told me he wasn't sure he still loved me, and February when he decided he wanted a divorce. No wonder I don't like this time of year...

I believe it does for all the reasons stated. But I love having 4 seasons. Same here. Plus I always say that having such long winters makes spring that much better when it finally comes.

I'm thinking about planning my garden to get my mind off winter. We may get snow Tuesday and the temps barely get above freezing lately.

Thanks, Ken. It's been 3 years, so I'm through with the pain and moving on now, to bigger and better things.
