After discussing it with board admin (Moonbeam), we've decided to collect some public feedback on the default "skin".

As most of you know, the "skin" determines the appearance of the boards. A person logged into an account while viewing the boards will view it using the skin they've selected in their profile. Persons not logged in (roughly 80% of the viewing audience) view the site with the default skin, called 'Default'.

Default is clean and pleasing to the eye, but it's quite... *ahem*... purple. Other skins are more colour-neutral, or use greens or earthtones, etc.

I've put together samples of nine skins below. Seven of the nine are up as candidates for the default skin. Each user can vote for the two skins they like the best.

The remaining two skins (Pastels and VUncia) are shown for interested parties. However, they're too "themed" to be candidates for default skin.

Remember, we're not voting on which skin is "best". We're voting for which skin you think would be the best "middle ground" for the many viewers who have no choice in skin.

I'm with you, Daph. I think the darker things are blue, the background's almost lavender. I didn't realize there were options until people started talking about the stone one. it's nice, but I like the contrast.

I think the VSilver is easier to read than the Gray Stone due to the white background in the text area, instead of the solid gray on the whole page. The contrast makes it more appealing to the eye.

There were several skins left out of the vote, BeenThere. I didn't have time to make screen shots of all of them, and so I left out ones that make text difficult or impossible to read. "Snow Leopard" was one of them.

Come on people. VMoney or Linen or VSilver can still make a run for the finish line! For the love of NotMSNMoney, don't leave us with purple!

I like the default or vmoney or vsilver.

My big concern is that it be easy to read for those of us that are blind as without our .

That's why I like the VSilver, mizbear. It has the white background in the text area. The Default and a couple of the others have a colored background in the main body and it's harder on the eyes.

I think the actual color name for the Default blue/purple blend is "Cornflower".

It looks like we've got a whole board who just lo-o-o-o-oves purple (bluey-purple, I'll grant you).

Of course! I had no idea how truly wonderful fluoride and snow leopards were a year ago. Thank you ever so much.

I personally prefer VSilver, but agree that I don't see a reason to change the default from Default. Which, BTW, is NOT purple.

No - blue becomes bleu and purple becomes peurple.

That's not really a purple shade on defaul though. It's more close to a lilac-blue.
