The skinny on Starbucks is making me nervous. Only because I have some shares in Starbucks and was thinking about buying more. They are "rebranding" their products, changing their logo (the link to the logo is below). The article is called Starbucks Logo Sleek or Bleak?www.thestreet.com/story/10964054/1/starbucks-new-logo-sleek-or-bleak.html?puc=tscft&cm_ven=tscftI say it's pretty bleak I like the one they've been using up to most recent. (glad I have some Starbuck's coffee mugs). This is logo #3. #1 and #2 look like they're from hunger. Also people are offended over their "skinny" lattes. I'm so glad they came out with skinny lattes although I always ordered my lattes with skim milk and added Splenda. If people are offended by the "skinny" lattes then don't drink them. More for me.

I can't do the "skinny lattes". They use artificial sweetener in them and the artificial sweeteners give me migraines.
Splenda gives me horrible stomach cramps. I don't know why my body reacts. I just know I can't do diet pops, Equal, Sweet N Lo, Splenda...it all makes me sick.

Oh wow. I get migraines and stomach cramps for MSG, which is not being used very often anymore. But I never had a reaction to artificial sweeteners. Most of the time, I drink regular coffee with some skim milk and no sugar. Lattes are usually a treat for me, because I'm always on a "money diet".

Whenever I get a latte I always get it with skim milk and no sugar or sweetener at all. What's the big deal?

I order soy beverages with no whip... but they need sugar to cover up the fact that the coffee really isn't *that* good.
I usually go for the raw sugar - I figure the fewer chemicals the better. As long as you're not having more than one or two a day, a couple of spoonfuls of sugar won't kill you (or make you fat).

I am a skinny vanilla latte drinker. I like the vanilla flavoring. I don't really care what they call it, or if they change the logo. I'm still going to drink it. Yes, I could get the same thing at a different coffeehouse, but they are never as good and are usually inconsistent (too sweet, bad pull, etc).

I've heard people order skinny lattes for years in Starbucks. Seems a whole lot easier than non fat/fake sugar No matter what a company does these days they are going to offend someone. Those who are offended by the term should come up with a better one word term to describe it. I hear that term in Starbucks I know what it means and I'm not offended by it. I get mine with skim milk and regular sugar. And I get the whipped cream and caramel brulee topping in the winter on that one. I don't get the sugar free syrup either I'm not a fan of the sugar substitutes. I don't get a latte every day so I'm not sweating every little calorie when I get one. I like the Dunkin Donuts iced lattes. I just looked up the one I normally get, only 180 calories. However those little munchkin donuts are evil! Ack 70 calories each, no more of those things!

I just ordered a Frieling Ultimo french press. I don't use sugar in coffee unless I'm making an "adult milkshake".

If I got up in enough time to make french press coffee I would have probably had sufficient sleep and therefore wouldn't need the coffee

I keep a french press and a grinder at the office. I used to use it regularly, but now that I have an awesome grind and brew at home, I have my coffee by the time I leave the house.

We really need to invest in a better coffee maker... and when I say coffee maker, I don't mean a Colombian maid.

The grind and brew I have was kind of expensive (though I got it as a gift), but it's worth every dime my father spent on it.

They also make the same one without the thermal carafe. That's what my sister got.

I think Starbucks should have stayed mainly on the west coast. We have one in our town and it does a light business compared to the 5 Dunkin Donuts. We are in Florida for the winter and I found out the local Starbucks closed.
I really do not like the taste of Starbucks coffee, but that's an individual preference so I m puzzled as to why they can't sustain their business in some locals. Few years back I'm walking from Navy Pier in Chicago to the train which took me through the business district. One corner there was a Starbucks the next corner a Dunkin Donuts.. and so on. This went on for block after block so that proves that both companies have a fan base.

The one problem with the carafe on this model is that some of the coffee just can't be poured out -- it catches under the lip on the inner seal. You lose maybe 1/2 a cup that way. My sister just didn't want a carafe for some reason. She can be odd.

Ooooo, I hadn't thought about that.
I got a new coffee grinder as my old one was really slow, the Cuisinart does a better and much faster job. I've also switched over to a French press. We have a self serve Starbucks coffee machine at work, it's really, really popular. Hopefully we'll keep it, it's not apparently inexpensive.
Coffee is just very individual. I bought some Caribou Coffee, Columbian, a while ago and I know a lot of people like them. That was just really nasty tasting to me, definitely off-tasting.

Call me a freak, but I don't do low or reduced calorie, low or reduced fat, and definitely no artificial sweeteners. Starbucks-wise, I either go full throttle and get an 800 calorie, venti Diabetes Blaster Frappucino, a cup of [unsweetened] hot tea, or an unsweetened misto.

I love Starbucks!! And the Skinny Chai (aka Grande Chai Latte with Skim Milk Please!!!!) Yeah, I'm hooked on Starbucks, too. I've recently made a few Starbucks-related changes that make me feel a tiny bit better about my habit: 1. Reusable cups and mugs. I finally found a ceramic--not plastic or metal--hot beverage mug, purchased from Starbucks, that I use now. And I also have one of those BPA-free plastic Starbucks cups for cold drinks, too. Apparently, you get a tiny discount for using reusable containers, but that wasn't my motivation; I would just prefer not having to throw so many disposable cups in the garbage/recycler all the time. 2. Starbucks VIA is the best! When I want Bucky's (as I call it) but don't feel like walking down the road to get it, I just turn on my kettle and one of those instant VIA packets in a cup. Voila! Very good, very instant coffee.

Here's the link to the article about people being offended by the "skinny" latte ad campagne. These anti-skinny soap-boxer loudmouths sound FAT.

I have the Cusinart Grind and Brew. I had it for awhile, so mine looks slightly different. I love it! The coffee in the whole bean form is much fresher than the ground coffee.

These anti-skinny soap-boxer loudmouths sound FAT. The funny thing is that the term "skinny" has been used in coffeehouse for years (at least on the west coast). No one raised a fuss until Starbucks started using it.
