Here is my update broken out!! I FINALLY figured out how to insert a table. Thanks so much for past posts which were so clear on the subject!!! I'm tackling the highest interest rate loan first (which also happened to be the smallest balance as well). DEBT | 1/1/10 | 2/3/11 | CHANGE | Home Equity | 38453 | 38260 | -193 | House Mortgage | 42040 | 37555 | -4485 | Camp Mortgage | 29392 | 16477 | -12915 | Apt. Mortgage | 63025 | 56732 | -6293 | TOTALS | 172190 | 149024 | -23886 |

Update poohbiscit: 2/7/11 10917.08 (12/31/09 $12,277.25 NEU14)
Finally under 11K. Next baby step is to be under 10K. I am hoping this will happen by the end June. We will have to wait an see though since we are coming up on the time of year where I have to pay both my car insurance and life insurance premiums so there may not be much extra that can be thrown at this.

WOW!! I checked out some of the past posts and people are doing amazing!!! We are really slashing our debt!!!! I have so long to go, that I really try to focus on the little celebrations. It felt great this month to go below $150k. Although I have about 4 1/2 years remaining to win my race, I really feel like I"m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. If all goes well, I will have our camp paid off in 10 months. That will be the first debt paid off since I started racing over a year ago. It will have taken me 2 years, but it will feel WONDERFUL!!!!! Unfortunately, the next one after that will take another 2 years from the time I pay off the first. Well, I will keep my eyes on the prize and keep plugging away and celebrate the numbers going down, down, down!!!!
Let's CRUSH THIS!!!!

I'm coming up on my second anniversary, and I think it will probably take me at least two more to win the race. After that I'm planning to keep snowballing and get rid of the mortgage, too.

H'mmm... An interesting little thing someone pointed out to me earlier today:
This year we experience 1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11, & 11/11/11.
But even wilder: Take the last two digits of the year you were born and add the age you'll be this year and they add up to 111.

Not a great update since last month My Balance stayed the same—Some Christmas charges showed up on Jan Bills and even though I paid what I thought was a nice amount I ended up with almost the same balance as last month’s update—So this month was a waste—But now I plan to get serious and knock off this debt—My Lowes card must be paid off by May—I was going to take the easy way out and do a balance transfer so I wouldn’t get stuck paying the deferred interest but decided to get my act together and put all my extra money to get this paid off without the balance transfer I will borrow from my EF fund if by may I can’t pay this off. I will pay min on all other cards.
I won 200.00 in super bowl pool—so excited!!! I really want to spend the winnings on spring clothes—but will put it towards debt.

So, I'm just swinging in to mention that I LOVE COUPONS! I began avidly running last spring and managed to loose just about 33lbs before our October wedding. Due to the crap-tastic weather and cold and also my running shoes being shot, I haven't run in 2 months. I'm bummin. So, I finally saved up a few bucks and got some new shoes and gear. The total added up to $250 BUT I had 20% promo code and another 10% because I was a "VIP" member. Yea, that's 30% off PLUS free 2-3 day shipping. I am now an amazing pair of running shoes, 2 pair of compression tights/capri's, and a 3 pack of awesome socks richer...oh and paid cash. I feel like I won the lottery! I can't wait to get running again. I'm looking to run a half in the fall....gotta get training!

Thanks, MinnesotaGirl, for updating the 5.6K-24K club! Even though I'm above my starting total for now, I like the motivational boost being on that list gives me.
Today is pay day, so by the end of the week I hope to make another dent in my debt. Then one more payment before I do the BT from Cap1 to Citi and take a wee step backwards again.
I'm gathering all my tax documents together, and I noticed that even though I sent in the SASE they require, our township never sent me a receipt for our real-estate taxes. So there's a phone call I have to make. I want to get our taxes done by the second week of March, if not by the end of this month. We'll be getting a refund, probably a big one since we also can claim the $ we spent on all new energy-saving windows for our house. I want to put a large chunk of it toward debt, but we might keep some liquid to go toward the house reno stuff.
Keep on truckin'!

UPDATE WANTANEWJOB 2/8/11 $10,215.20 (1/19/10 $19,492.75 NEU60/198) Difference: -$9,277.55 Debt | Current 2/8/2011 | Last 1/13/2011 | First 01/19/2010 | Citibank | $10,215.20 | $11,914.70 | $3,613.24 | Chase | $0.00 | $76.41 | $15,214.53 | Chase Dentist | $0.00 | $866.57 | $0.00 | Banana Republic | $0.00 | $20.94 | $464.00 | J.
Progress Difference | From Last Update | From First Post | Citibank | -$1,699.50 | $6,601.96 | Chase | -$76.41 | -$15,214.53 | Chase Dentist | -$866.57 | $0.00 | Banana Republic | -$20.94 | -$464.00 | J. Crew | $0.00 | -$119.24 | Macys | $0.00 | -$81.74 | Total | -$2,663.42 | -$9,277.55 |

Wow! I've paid off almost $10,000 and by next month I'll be below the $10,000 total mark! This feels like such great progress in just over a year! I was lucky this month to finally receive that dental reimbursement check so I could clear the dental debt and put about $1,500 to our main credit card. However, I should add that we have a $400,000 mortgage and about $250,000 in law school loans that I'm not racing so my debt picture a little more bleak than what this is showing. But the first step for us is to zero-out our consumer debt so in that respect we are in good shape! We also have $6,000 in savings right now and we just started an emergency fund (for house repairs and the like) that is at $131. As long as nothing catastrophic happens this year we have a good plan. Unfortunately my company looks like it almost definitely is going to merge with another company in the next month or two and my position may become redundant. There's a decent chance that they will still need me but I'm not taking any chances so I'm back in the job market (yuck). I've been unemployed before and I'm not willing to risk that again by waiting to see what happens to my current job!

So, I'm just swinging in to mention that I LOVE COUPONS! I agree! I've been loading my Safeway grocery card with electronic coupons from their website and from shortcuts.com. I never buy anything at retail stores without a coupon and refuse to pay for shipping from online retailers. I love Macy's and Banana Republic for the discounts they offer (and it's why I keep holding on to those credit cards ... but make sure I pay them off immediately!).

Good Morning to all. I have a few updates to make, both money related and not. I am home sick - Mr. IrishMaude thought it would be SO fun to share his germs. Ugh, this is day 2. Mr. IrishMaude and I are still looking for a home. While we've been getting frustrated, we had a heart to heart with our realtor and she assured us that there is a home for us, that fits us, that makes us happy. She's sure of it and we trust her. She also pointed out that 3 feet of snow and a once a week snowstorm isn't really conducive to house listing/hunting. So, with that said, we're headed to go look at another house this weekend. Money: Update: IrishMaude: 2/10/11 $0.00 (8/7/2008 $21,064.05 NE260)Yup, we won!! We FINALLY won our consumer debt race!!! It was a 2 1/2 year race of many setbacks and frustrations, milestones and cheers, but we did it and were able to do it because of WIR and all of the friends I made here encouraging me and comforting me and assuring me that my rants were justified. This isn't the end of IrishMaude, oh no, you can't get rid of me that easily (although I kinda wish you could b/c that would mean no more debt for me); after we find a house OR in a couple of months, whichever comes first, I will be back for my daunting student loan race #2. Many thanks to everyone who helped me/us through this race. We are ecstatic knowing we're going into a home purchase with no consumer debt and savings. Cheers.

Congrats on your win, IrishMaude! What a great feeling, huh?
We'd miss you if you left, but at the same time I'm sorry you have more debt to race.
GL with the house hunt! You'll know the perfect house for you as soon as you see it!
