Update: poohbiscit: 6/10/11 $10,102.55 (12/31/09 $12,277.25 NEU14)
So at the beginning of the year I set my 1st goal to be at $10,000 by the end of June. I am not sure if I am going to be able to squeeze my budget for the extra $102.55 to get there by June 30th. I may be close since I do not believe I have to make an oil payment this month and that could be $84 more to go to the CC and I normall have around $20-$30 at the end of my two week pay period to through extra at it.
If I make it I will make another update but if I do not get there it will be okay since I know that I will be there at my July update which is only a little over a week later.
On the plus side in the 1st 6 months of 2011 I have already paid off more debt than I did in all of last year. I am getting there even though it not always easy. I really want this consumer debt paid of by the end of 2012 so we can start looking for a new house and begin to expand our family. We made a pledge that we want our consumer debt elimated before we do this though.

Update: Gosh I didn't realize that it had been so long since I had posted. I thought that once kids were out of school things would slow down. Well unfortunately my balance went up a little. I had to transfer the remaining balance from a card that I was not racing to my BOA card so that I could close the account. It only sets me back on my race about $500 which I am hoping to make up in the next month with some OT. When my husband left his business about 4 years ago he had himself released from the business and signed all the necessary paperwork to remove him as a guarantor on the company cards. About a month ago we were considering refinancing our mortgage so of course they ran a credit report. My husband's credit score went from an 848 down to a 620. Seems that his business partner never signed the final paperwork and stopped paying the credit cards in December. They wanted my husband to pay more than $13K. I was totaly pissed because it was obvious that my DH never ran a credit report to follow up on all this stuff. After about a month long investigation with BOA they actually released my DH from the card and gave it to us in writing. We will have to wait about 60 days for his score to be corrected. Bad thing about it is that the one card that my DH and I jointly hold tried to raise our rate due his tanked score so I had to close it out. I do have to say that for once I was impressed by BOA's customer service. Here goes the update:

Murphy has come to visit. My cat got sick on Memorial day weekend and we ended up having to bring her off to an emergency clinic. Six days later we ended up bringing her home and they still don't know what is wrong with her. They think she might have pneumonia of some sort but they are not sure. We are now 2700 in debt to care credit and we still might have to put the cat down as she is weak and keeps running a fever off and on. We can't spend anymore money on her and our savings got wiped in seconds. DH and I have been getting into fights because we are both so stressed out, which is not helping ugh...

Lark: Sorry you're having a bad day. Keep your head up. I don't have any get rich schemes up my sleeve. A friend of mine did Amway years ago but I don't think she made any money. And, if you do start strippin' don't take "Black Onyx".....that's my stage name! LOL

Hello everyone,
Congratulations to all those who have won their race. I can't wait to join you.
I backslid this month but still ended up going down instead of up (by $30) so all is good. I've come to realize that I started having real problems with my budget when I had to start paying for day care and my last 2 jobs haven't offered on call pay. I never realized how much that helped. If I can hold on until the fall, my son will be in school full time (1st grade) and my day care bill will be cut way down. I think I can make it.

I will hopefully have an update ready at the end of the month, I keep forgetting to update! But I wanted to jump in on the vampire conversation, Vampire Diaries is amazing and the Twilight books are super good, but have you all seen True Blood??? It's on HBO, the new season starts June 26, I signed up for FREE HBO for 3 months just to watch it! ;D

7.8% paid off! My two year anniversary of WIRR is June 18, I am so fortunate that I found WIRR. I had made mistakes in my finances over the years, and was slowly trying to correct them, and when I found WIRR that's when I really focused on what I needed to do financially. I now have a growing Emergency Fund, not only for emergencies, but I am still putting away extra money to have one year of mortgage payments in savings. This feels good. Actually it feels great! I am also paying a little bit extra each week on my two debts, even just $20 here or there makes me feel better about them, that I'm knocking down the principal. And my plan is to sell my house next year (here's hoping the market improves), the one that has the HELOC, and what I make on that house I will put toward the condo. I don't think it will be enough to pay off the mortgage in full, but it'll be a nice chunk of change towards it. I'll probably invest that money short term, and when the amount I owe on the condo reaches the amount I received for the house, I'll just pay off the condo. And I know there are different "schools of thought" to paying off mortgages early, but I am in my 50's and I just don't want to bother with the financial responsibility of a mortgage anymore -- plus I want to retire, quit my job, and make/sell jewelry full time.

Munjoyhill: I so understand about the mortgage!! I'm in my 50's as well and the mortgage debt feels like it is strangling me!!! I can't wait to be out from under it all. I think it will feel amazing when the first of the 4 mortgages (1 is actually a home equity) is gone. Unfortunately, then it is a long road before the next is gone.............trying to get myself to keep my eye on the prize, but it is sooooo easy to get discouraged when you have a lot of debt to pay off. Sometimes I think I should have raced one at a time, maybe then it would have felt like I was accomplishing something. Sometimes I feel like I'm not getting anywhere!!
UGH!!!

Yes, I have taken a backwards slide. I needed money to open up my business for the season. Unfortunately, there were several issues that required immediate attention ($1400 fee to the town that had to be paid, so I can open), other repairs that needed to be done. This lead me straight to the credit card and the nasty cash advance. I am still kicking myself for doing it, but I did not have any money The last two nights, I sat down and took a hard look at the numbers. From January 1, 2011, to today, I paid out close to $7500 of my personal money for my business while it was closed (not to mention the over $100,000 I have put in over the last 5 years). No wonder why I cannot make ends meet! I spoke to the DH, and we decided that when my lease ends at the end of this year, I will not be renewing it. As much as I love having my own business, continually working 2 and 3 jobs to make ends meet and to pay for the business is not worth it. On one hand, I feel like I have failed, but on the other, I feel like I am successful because I tried, and learned so much about myself. I gained knowledge and a certain strength that I did not know I even had, so that is worth the financial havoc I currently have.

Oceanfire I am very sorry to hear about your cat. Vet expenses can add up very quickly. It can be very frustrating to see the bill, and not have your cat get any better. You are very fortunate you have a care credit, they have great financing plans. Whatever you decide, letting our pets go on ahead without us, is one of the greatest acts of love we can give them.

Lark: I am envious that you even having stripping as an option. The dog and cat run out of the room when I strip down, so I cannot even imagine what a room full of men would do. Then again, my critters are a wee bit smarter than some men.
If I knew how to send you a hug or even karma your way, I would.

chiver - How come when I exalt someone (and this has happened more than once) it doesn't seem to take. I look at their numbers the next day and they remained the same. Am I only allowed to exalt if I post a message?

onmywaynow - I believe the rules for "exalting" are as folllows: 1. You have to be signed in. 2. You can only give a karma point once every hour. 3. The karma point hits as soon as you hit the exalt button. 4. Once you add the karma point, it will change all of that posters posts to reflect the new karma #. Hope it helps.
