Oceanfire31: 11/19/2013 $9,926.59 (09/07/2009 $22,908.15 NE679, NE692) 8-12-2013 8-12-2013 Difference SL $10,049.65 $9,926.59 $123.06 YAY under 10,000! There is lots to talk about since last I posted in August. First of all I had a busy and great summer gardening. That being said, I did have to give up the landscaping gig and just keep my own personal gardening business. My boss and friend, at the gas station on the island, passed away unexpectedly on my birthday . Since then I have had to take responsibility for running the gas station and am now the new manager. This does come with a significant pay raise but it also comes with a lot of things that are new to me. I am not so fond of now being responsible for anything that happens and having to fill out all the DEM paperwork. Because of all the new commitments I no longer had time to do the landscaping and I also gave up my part time winter job at the grocery. I do get home now at three, which is nice, almost like having a regular job. I am hoping with the new pay raise to really get on this and pay off this loan by next December. I made up my budget last night, now I just need to stick to it.

UPDATE: nidena: 11/22/2013 $176,353.66 (8/22/2007 $223,361.2 N453,503,NE648,NPT25)Down another $1000 since last update. It's not the progress that I was striving for but it's progress, nonetheless, and I will take it! I'd like to add that today is my 75 month anniversary. lol Okay, that's six years and three months but 75 sounds more impressive.

UPDATE:
Wudnit: 11/26/13 $72,447 (1/13/10 $172915 NEU46)
I'm hoping to make another update in December, but that will depend on money we are expecting, actually arriving in time. If not, I should be able to make a big payment in January. Soooo cannot wait to be out from under this debt. It really wears on your after awhile. I've lost my table format, but my current debts are as follows:
Home Equity: $37,388 Home Mortgage: $23,072 Apt. Mortgage: $11,987
I'm definitely making progress. Next month, I should be below $10,000 on that Apt. Mortgage. That will be reason to do a happy dance!! Constantly celebrating those small victories. Really looking forward to when I can start knocking out that Home Equity!!! My plan is to tackle that one last. Hoping to be done with the other two in 2014.
Nidena: Happy 75 month anniverary!!! HA!!! Got to love that, sounds very impressive!!

EF=$236.03I am getting myself back of track. I got my first real zero! It's a store card, so it's not likely to get reused anytime soon. All of the charges from my trip have made it to my credit cards. The card that was used for the trip has been paid in full and will not be showing up in my racing debt. Almost all of CC#1 is at 0% until 1/2015, $7,575 of CC#4 is at 0% until 4/2014 and $7,416 of CC#5 is at 0% until 3/2015. My strategy is to pay the minimum on the cards that are not costing me any interest and get rid of the interest-bearing balance on CC#1 and CC#4. CC#2 will begin costing me interest again after my January statement, so I will have to do another balance transfer next month. By strategically using balance transfers, I have brought my monthly interest costs down from $484 monthly three years ago to $45 monthly today. I can't imagine where I would be now without the balance transfers. They have really saved me financially. Roth IRA contributions and EF deposits still on auto-pilot, even though I did raid a little from the EF. Happy Holidays! -movinonup

Update: Kristin11: 12/02/13 $5,249.45 (12/31/09 $16,567.73 NEU8)
I adjusted my chart a little this month to just reflect the two debts that I have remaining in this race. I am not completely table savy and it was taking me forever each month to create it so this is a little easier for me. Creditor | 10/11/13 | 12/2/13 | Difference | Discover | $3,711.69 | $4,150.64 | $438.95 | Disney Visa | $1,058.86 | $1,098.81 | $39.95 | Total: | $4,770.55 | $5,249.45 | $478.90 |
My totals went up a little bit this month because I did all of my Christmas shopping this past weekend and put it on my Discover card. I started putting away cash each week for Christmas starting in September but I didn't want to take the cash out of my savings account just yet because I wanted to earn the extra month's interest. I am going to be paying the entire Christmas bill off on December 20th so my numbers will be back to normal once that payment is made. I have not been able to pay off my Disney bill as fast as I wanted to because I find myself using it for about $10 to $15 worth of purchases a week when I run short on cash because the interest rate is so low. Hopefully next month that will be stopping because I just found out today that I am getting a $5,000 raise! That should be an extra almost $100 in my take home pay each week and should give me a lot more breathing room. Otherwise things have been realitively good for me financially. I have even started reimbursing my EF that I had used on car repairs and other misc. things (might have one more car repair to do before the year end though). With the new raise I am giving myself a goal of paying off my Disney bill in May of 2014. I am then going to start my transfers of $1,200 at a time from my Discover to Disney. I am going to give myself 6 months time to pay off each transfer so in theory I hope to have this race completed and the next one beginning by December 2015. Hopefully I can keep up the pace I am setting for myself. Hope everyone is looking forward to the holiday season and doing well!

Another milestone is that you'll be in the 22s for your Home Mortgage and, possibly, the 36s for you Home Equity.

Still looking for a job - it's been just shy of 2 months since I got let go. Not a bad time of year to be unemployed though. With the holidays coming up, it's sorta nice to have the time to breath and enjoy them without the stress of my job. We were already in the process of doing a refi on my car to drop it a percentage point while keeping the payoff date the same & in moving everything on the RCCL credit card over to a personal loan with our credit union. We are also redoing our main bath (keeping it as minimal as possible in a 85 year old house) as the floor was pretty much grinding itself through the subfloor into my basement - enough was enough, so we demolished the entire thing this past weekend. I think we'll spend like $2,500 on it, but it's all being paid in cash & being done by us. My hubby's side biz that he started in October (the day I got let go) is doing better than he anticipated, which is great all things considered. We are only paying ourselves half of what he brings in for the moment, as we aren't sure what's going to happen with our taxes, so the other half is staying in the bank until we get the taxes done in February.

I am thinking about starting a new race with two items not previously on my list. If I do it, is the page listed as NE113?

I apologize for my lack of updates. I thought I updated in October, only to find out that I didn't. I have been trying really hard to pay off my very last card in this race. For whatever reason, (mostly my lack of focus and discipline) I did not progress as quickly as I would have liked to. I am still hoping to pay the balance off by the end of the year. I guess this means I really need a good to get my focus back. So here it goes.

Kristin11!! YAY!! May I just add - IT'S ABOUT TIME!! For me - still no word on the mortgage front. My attorney is still chasing down rules and regulations, trying the RESPA card, but it's the holidays, and nobody's really "helpful". Hopefully after New Year's we'll be able to get a little momentum. Meanwhile I have been checking with mortgage co's to re-finance out from under these creeps. I had my credit score run, I was disheartened it was 593, the absolute MINIMUM anyone will take is 600, but the bank told me most people in bankruptcy have scores between 300-500, so I'm actually doing pretty well. Another couple of months and I will be able to re-finance, it would be a nice birthday present for me if it happens before April 3! Bankruptcy is plodding along. It was actually something of a shock to me to realize I'm half-way through this - I feel like it's been forever, and I also feel like - it hasn't changed at all! Hopefully I'll be able to post numbers again soon. *sigh* Everyone have a delightful holiday, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Hannukah, Namaste, whatever else...

It feels so good to only have one more year of racing left on this SL. My DH and I talked and we are going to take our tax returns and put them towards my SL. Last year we used the return money to pay of the remainder of his car loan so now it is my turn. 2014 is looking like a good year, happy holidays everyone and happy new year.

EF=$256.03My car payment hasn't gone through for the month, but I don't anticipate having another opportunity to post between today and New Year's Eve. I am making progress, but am still spending too much. There were a few non-recurring items that I am almost done paying. Framing and printing cost me about $400 last month, and my son's Tae Kwon Do contract for the next year cost me about $500 a month for the last 3 months. I still have to figure out how I am going to handle transferring the balance from CC#3 which will begin costing me interest again next month. Roth IRA contributions and EF deposits still on auto-pilot. Happy New Year! -movinonup

For who have been, oftentimes, just putting one foot in front of the other: my hat is off to you. I know, firsthand, what an on-going learning experience paying off debt is. My discipline with paying cash-only has waxed and waned over the past hundred years and I had said I was going to go back to it a month or two ago. Well, that didn't happen. Having one, then two, then one (again) teenager living with me after decades on my own was eye-opening. I am teenager free again; and only because I told the remaining one that I needed her to start paying rent come March--as that would mark the six month mark of her living her without doing so. She had contributed to household upkeep but that doesn't help with the outgo has increased by $400/mo and there's nothing additional coming in. She opted to move back home. During the five months that I had additional folks here, my credit card took one heck of a beating; 2014 is about mending the wounds that were incurred during that time. I have no big expenses on the horizon til fall so that is plenty of time for me to getting the healing going. I will be listing the truck (the one that I bought just before I deployed last year) on Craigslist and expect it will sell quickly. I will also be listing quite a few other things that are just taking up space in my house. Those will be listed on a local facebook page. Here's to starting the new year off with less.

UPDATE: Wudnit 1/2/14 $69,578 (1/13/10 $172915 NEU46)
Okay, so no additional update in December as I was hoping, now I'm not even certain that I will be able to make an extra payment in January, but I am working hard to stay at this current pace which for me is aggressive and often times I struggle to make it, but I am insistent that we work through the struggle as the other side (being debt free) is within our grasp. We just have to work hard to get there. I'm under $70K so that is HUGE!! My breakdown follows:
Home Equity: $37,349 Home Mortgage: $22,615 Apartment Mortgage: $9,614
As long as we keep the current pace, the apartment mortgage will be toast in MAY! That will mean 4 more (LARGE) payments and we will be done with that one. The plan is to snowball that into the house mortgage, tackling the Home Equity last. The thought of having my SECOND "0" is exciting. We paid off another mortgage back in December of 2011, so it has been awhile to get to the 2nd "0".
Happy New Year to everyone!!! Hoping that everyone can find it in them to refocus and really start bringing down that debt!!
