My - felt gratitude to one and all. Lifestyle, your post relates a wonderful truth: we never know how far adrift go the ripples of our actions. Here I was posting my chapters to the ladies on the board, and they ended up having an effect on someone I had never met. Amazing! And humbling, too! Thanks for posting!

Congrats Writer!!!! Such an inspirational journey! I hope you come back and visit us often. We will miss your little bits of wisdom! Don't worry. I'm sticking around the ProBoards site. You can catch FFinBC and me over at the WIR Savers Thread (where I trust all of you will join in once your debts are paid off ). Besides, I wouldn't miss DebtHeaven's and El 1504's wins for all the tea in China!

Congratulations Writer88! It's been what seems to be a quick road to the end of the rainbow for you. With a few hills and curves but if we didn't have those I think life would be boring.

IMPORTANT Hi there everyone! I wanted to answer a few questions about the board closings for you all: 1. We are moving to notmsnmoney.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=wir2. There are temporary threads set up now for each region. By the end of January (hopefully by the end of next week) we will have permanent proboard regional threads. We haven't set them all the way up yet because we are still learning how things work there and how we have to adapt our practices. 3. Please stop posting on MSN now - while the boards aren't currently scheduled to close until 1/14, it makes it harder for the volunteers to do their jobs. 4. Taglines will stay the same for the time being. I am working on revised codes for the proboards sites and will let you all know of changes when we open the permanent threads. 5. New members should add a "PT" for their page number until further notice: WPT, IPT, MPT, NPT, SPT 6. Smiley faces will be back as soon as possible - we are looking at different options for how to best bring them back - best for you and best for the volunteers! 7. While the urgency is over, I am still collecting email addresses so that I can reach members as needed - you can email me at cgwirr at gmail dot com. 8. Please either use your MSN nic on proboards, or tell us who you used to be - otherwise we won't know it's you! Thanks for your patience! ~CG

yup mg7.. i was trying to figure it out.. i think i just got it! and now I've saved it too!
Writer88: CONGRATS! You are truly a role model to follow in this! May the new year bring you all you desire (and can afford hehe)
FYI on my rest: that's my borrowed money for my retirement account. Hopefully it will go down fast. I chose to put in on the LOC instead of my RSP LOC so that I could have control over the repayments.

ThriftyInMtl and Alice'sFreedom
If you want to add in a debt to your totals then you need to adjust your starting balances. Forgetting to adjust your starting balances will negatively skew your paid off percentages, lower your paid off amounts and limit your smilies. Let's use Thrifty's latest update as an example:
Thrifty's 01/06/09 starting balance was $201,231.48. After adjustment for the addition of "Dad debt" it would now read: $209,464.20. <201231.48 + 8232.72 = 209464.20>
Thrifty's "paid off" total would be $29,615.90. <eliminate the negative sum for "Dad debt">.
Therefore, Thrifty's bottom line should read: 14.14% paid off $179,848.30 (starting total: $209,464.20)

Writer I love your Tortoises!
Thrifty Great update! You're just plowing ahead!
Alice Wow, CC1 is almost a goner!
Moody Hi! You too, your RRSP loan is nearly gone!
Well, we got hit with a bunch of special assessments (about 2.5K for the year). Bummer!!! I haven't decided what to do about them yet, whether to pay off the car and rental reno loans as planned and then worry about the special assessments, or whether to hold some money back from the rental reno loan.
I actually wanted to borrow a few K more for the new rental in case something like this happened, but that loan seemed so "iffy" at one stage I decided not to.
In either case, I WILL pay off the car loan and "win" my current race. One, I want / need to win this race psychologically, because I will not really be debt-free for a long time with all the rental debt. Two, because it's a 355e/mo payment and that's a big chunk of change. I think if I can afford to completely pay off the rental reno loan, I will, and then redirect that 200/mo towards the special assessments.
Special assessments seem to be par for the course with the rentals, so there is something to be said for just reducing our monthly debt obligations as much as possible.
I'll make a final decision once the sale goes through and I actually know exactly how much we get and how much we owe.
But in any case, hopefully by 6 Feb I will be done!
