Morning all. I will get my info updated shortly. Sadly I will be reporting a backslide for 2010, but it is a new year, new direction.
On another note, David Bach's new book, Debt Free for Life is free for download today only. Here is a link for the site to download it: www.walletpop.com/david-bach
nasa - thanks for doing the excel sheet. that will be so much easier than trying to figure the table out in this thing... i'll go back & try to edit my post with my numbers using that.
I like the excel sheet. Hi to all! I'm ready to tackle 2011, but I need to add a goal for the year. NOT TO BE SO ANAL about money to my family. Yes I am going to be frugal. BUt I found myself get way too upset and wordy when one of my children asked for money or DH went to the store to buy Diet Coke. I think all they will remember is "It's not on the list" and " I don't have any money". So I got to be better and come up with better words.
lookingforanswers - welcome to the board from the captain of the south! I am so glad you are here, and you are our first member that has joined since we moved to the new forum (proboards). We are here to help in any way we can. Generally, we want members to post their updates each month, at least as often as that, and it isn't a problem if you update more frequently. If you are gone for longer than two months, we move you to an inactive status, but don't ever delete you forever
Great job with the table, i think what you are missing at the end of the table you tried two posts ago is the [/table]....just put that at the end. and then edit your post and lets see if you get the table this time
Just so you know, when you update, always include a tagline that looks like this whenever you post an update so the captains can find your information: lookingforanswers - 1/5/11 $7,947 (1/5/11 $7,947 PTS5)
and also please post your state so we can know your location
Crafty Sarah: So sorry to hear that Murphy visited you over the Holidays with your car and pup! Hope both are fixed and doin' fine! MuffyInTheRed: Sending good juju's your way that you will feel better soon! Rdy4Blck82: Great to see you with us! ;D DizzleIsDone: Wonderful Update Your goal to be debt free by 8/2011 is fantastic! Cheering you on! SuzWantsToBeFree: Your New Year's sounds like a lot of fun! ;D RedRacerRis: Thank you for the well wishes! Your anniversary sounded very romantic! How was Tron? DF and I want to go see that the weekend after next. GoalOfZero: Happy to see you with on ProBoards!
Well I have to get back to work, more updates later!
I am glad everyone seems to have made it over here. I haven't updated in several months and it looks like I have been moved to the inactive list. I have been keeping up with the boards though and it looks like everyone is doing great!
Even though I don't know what my last update was I will update soon with all my numbers. The last few months my total hasn't gone down very much ....at least it didn't go up though.
Not about debt - rant - omg - i'm 25 weeks pregnant and i am living with my in-laws. my parents have a second house that we are planning on moving into 3/1...but i just talked to my mom and she thinks she told the current renters to be out by 4/1...that is only 3 weeks before my due date. i need to try not to break down and freak out until i know for sure what the renters were told, but still...that would mean an extra 4 weeks of living with in-laws, 3 weeks to set up the entire house for the baby, and moving in between.....

Nasa
I'm sorry to hear that you may have to stay an extra month at the in-laws I know it is frustrating - at least you have a roof over your head and a warm place to sleep! I hope she is wrong and you get to move in on 3/1 rather than 4/1!
Nckls4603: Fantastic update and kudo's on the increased savings! ReduceMyDebt: Sorry to hear that you have been sick (couldn't resist that smilie ) and hope that you are feeling better now. That's terrible about the CC theft. Glad that it is working out in your favor.
Strangely enough, the idea of paying off my bills is what is making me come into work. I am keeping my eye on the prize and know that the only way I can get there is to keep the income coming in.
SpeechChick71: Amen Sister! NasaGreen: Many thanks for the updates and smilies! You know how I love smilies! CleanSlate09: Welcome Back! Dimplesnlj: Happy Anniversary! Your trip to Charleston sounds fantastic and I am sure you will meet your 2011 goals with no problems! ;D Shoutout to Pammey831! You will pick up the table creation in no time! Jdnstl: Happy Anniversary Woman! Just want to say what an inspiration you are to me. Your optimism and can do attitude really make this board great!
Feeling good about my start to 2011 - so far I have spent $9 this year on my debit card (amazon) and everything else I have spent is from the $100 bill I got from my CFO for Christmas. I just don't have much of a desire to spend money right now, I am even taking my lunch to work.
SuzWantsToBeFree: LOL! ;D I have been doing the same thing! DF and I have a little competition to see who can spend less this month...
Well, I have to get back to work! More updates later! Hope everyone's Thursday is fantastic!

Oh wow! I made a table!!! After taking way too much time and effort. Thanks to all the people who posted examples, I wouldn't have been able to finish this otherwise.
I"m under 20k. YAAAAAAY! What a way to start the New year!
i just talked to my mom and she thinks she told the current renters to be out by 4/1...that is only 3 weeks before my due date
nasa: Oh my goodness! I can't imagine! I am so sorry to hear this. I hope the renters can move out sooner. Keep us posted, okay?
My "unrelated to debt" update: Things are a little stressful here. My physically and emotionally abusive dad is threatening to take us to court for visitation rights regarding my kids. We never told him that he couldn't see the kids, but I just wanted to not join the Christmas family gathering this year until we could resolve some conflict. He was intent on getting us to join the get together and sent over 50 pages of hurtful emails, made several calls and knocked on the door twice. (We silently went to the back bedroom and didn't answer.)
Then he started calling for the kids and sending them multiple cards in the mail telling them to come over and get their gifts. My husband called him and asked if he would please not try to contact the kids because it was creating stress for them. My dad then said he was going to contact a lawyer regarding visitation rights.
My dad was physically and emotionally abusive to my brother and me growing up, he slapped my mom, he was even fired from working in a children's home for over-spanking (beating) a boy. He would throw things and break things in the home. He talks about porn and has inappropriate conversations in front of the chilldren, and I would hope that a judge would not grant him rights regarding my children. Still, he recently inherited many thousands of dollars, and I am concerned about his threat to take us to court. We did not tell him that he could never give gifts or never see my kids again; we just needed to resolve the problems with gift giving before accepting more gifts. (My dad sometimes uses gifts to create guilt and feelings of obligation, and when he comes over, he inspects how his gifts are stored etc., and gets mad if they are not kept to his liking.)
I am nervous that my dad is going to come by to confront me. Because I couldn't see that my daughter was opening the coat closet near the front door yesterday, I about had a heart attack, because the first thought that came into my mind was that my dad was trying to get in.
freshnewday - oh man, i'm so sorry you have to go through this. thanks for responding to my "stress"...I don't know what I would do in your shoes. just keep on being the reasonable person that you are, it sounds like you are really trying to walk the fine line of being a committed, patient daughter, and a protective, responsible parent. keep us posted as well

carolinacat Way to go! You're right, under $20,000 at the beginning of the new year is a great start.
freshnewday That is horrible. Did you save those emails, if he takes you to court, you can use them as documentation. If you could find some documentation that he was fired from that job for that reason, that would be good too. You just need to prepare yourself in case he does find a lawyer who will actually take his case. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. You don't want to be caught unaware and unprepared.
ok, you don't want to know how many times. lol I couldn't get the table to work (with the codes) from a spreadsheet, so just did a word document. whew!

Procras108r: nice.....very nice.....love the scrolling UPDATE!
freshnewday: Wow, you've had a "holiday and a half" too! Yep, I'd agree on keeping any communication you've had or that he's attempted. I guess I never thought about grandparents suing for visitation. I'm not sure how much stance he would have; if you, as the parents, are taking care of your children, can grandparents DEMAND to see their grandchildren?
nasa: I hope things work out for that moving situation. Maybe drop a 'thinly veiled hint' that if you have to move 3 weeks before your due date, you won't be able to do any of the moving or packing so it will all be on her shoulders. Would that make any difference?
RE: tables: I have a copy of the excel spreadsheet from the link you posted, nasa, but can formulas be put in there? Or, do I need to just manually type in my numbers from my own spreadsheet? Everyone seems to be getting a good handle on it. I saw that the smileys are around too! Good deal!
I'm getting a itty bitty paycheck this week but I should still have somewhat of a paydown! I'll hopefully update tomorrow.

Totally not about money...Cannot wait until the weekend!!! No wonder they gave me two 3 day weekends - I have totally made up for the missed hours this week. I also cannot wait until the end of the year stuff is done.
omg, I have spent a lot of time on this. I figured out how to get values from one sheet on excel to transfer to the other sheet so now I can use what I have and have the those numbers right onto this table. I just hope the table works. Hitting "post" right now...there might be edits.

I'm doing a mini update so that I can play with some of the fun new options. I don't know how many have actually realized this, but there is a preview button to the right of the post reply. It makes it so you don't have to hit edit a million times. Anyways, by the end of this month, I'll have less than $126,000. It seems that every month I move into a different thousand, so that's good. And this is the month where I will be able to start paying the principle on SL4, HUZZAH!!! I also learned a good thing. Even though not all of the loans are below their original amount, the overall amount is less than the original amount: $128,060. Stupid capitalized interest. Oh well. It is good to be below the overall original.
speechchick nice little pay down. I didn't realize that you were updating every week. Woohoo on having 80% paid off. It must be nice being on the downhill slide. Welcome ProCras108r to the new boards. I'm sure you'll get used to it soon. ???Someone posted an excel document that's supposed to be easy to transfer to here (haven't tried it meself, since I'm familiar with html) Suz hope you can get through the rest of your week, you can make it to the weekend.
Edited to make the whole thing not move. Sorry about that!
speechchick - glad you figured it out....I'm pretty sure however it "Looks" when you copy is what gets posted on proboards, so the formulas should work.
NOTE ABOUT SPREADSHEET - if anyone has problems with the sheet I posted a page ago, please let me know! i want it to be easy for everyone to use!
NOTE ABOUT SCROLLING - Yes, very cool feature, how do you do that? PLEASE, JUST DO NOT have your tagline be part of the scroll! We will be staring at the screen for ages trying to catch it, and I'm not sure I'm that fast! Hahaha!
IMPORTANT Hi there everyone! I wanted to answer a few questions about the board closings for you all:
1. We are moving to notmsnmoney.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=wir 2. There are temporary threads set up now for each region. By the end of January (hopefully by the end of next week) we will have permanent proboard regional threads. We haven't set them all the way up yet because we are still learning how things work there and how we have to adapt our practices. 3. Please stop posting on MSN now - while the boards aren't currently scheduled to close until 1/14, it makes it harder for the volunteers to do their jobs. 4. Taglines will stay the same for the time being. I am working on revised codes for the proboards sites and will let you all know of changes when we open the permanent threads. 5. New members should add a "PT" for their page number until further notice: WPT, IPT, MPT, NPT, SPT 6. Smiley faces will be back as soon as possible - we are looking at different options for how to best bring them back - best for you and best for the volunteers! 7. While the urgency is over, I am still collecting email addresses so that I can reach members as needed - you can email me at cgwirr at gmail dot com. 8. Please either use your MSN nic on proboards, or tell us who you used to be - otherwise we won't know it's you!
