jdnstl - Thanks for taking time to create the weekly updates for our group! Your efforts are greatly appreciated. I wanted to let you know that my balance is $93,000.
It's so sad to see us whittling away to so few members...I know I haven't done a good job posting regularly. One more week of classes and I'll have more time. Granted I want to spend most of that time out in my yard and riding my bicycle.
To answer your question jdnstl - I am teaching a summer class but everything will be online. This will be nice b/c I can do the work from anywhere and on my own time. I'll get a little bit of extra money for my work.
I hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather. I know I am!

Thank you Jdnstl for the shout out. My savings is looking pretty good. I have over 6 months worth of living expenses. My goal is to pay down this debt, then buy a used car, and save for a year's worth of expenses. I am trying to quickly eliminate this debt since it has been hanging over my head for a while. Hope everyone is doing well with their race!

Update! Pay-no-interest: $92,500
Saturday I did absolutely no work because I'm completely exhausted. That meant today I worked all day to get ready for finals week. I'm sooooo ready for this semester to be over. I have one final on Monday and one on Thursday and then I can FINALLY have a weekend that is all mine and doesn't involve working. I'm so ready.
BTW: Happy Star Wars day. May the 4th be with you

So this is the update for TWO months, which it looks like I have paid off a lot. Which I guess I have, over $2500 in two months isn't bad. I was travelling for two weeks of last month, and getting everything in order for the house in March, so no update on here. I was paying everything as you can see. I am seeing some awesome paydowns! I've paid off over $50,000! We're making some nice progress on the PLUS loan, so that is exciting. It will be paid off by November! Then I can blow SL4-F out of the water! Congrats to DeepinTX! Woohoo, you go girl, enjoy that freedom! Welcome to MommyWife, can't wait to see your first update. Congrats to Sparks on your 3 new zeros! Re: ready to retire, I got 8 out of 10, I missed the annuity question and the one right after that. But really, I am 26 and have a way to go before retirement. I am only putting $20 a month into a ROTH IRA until we pay off our student loans and build up 6 months of expenses. Plus, Jason gets his VA benefits until he dies, so once everything is paid off, including the house, we could honestly just live on that with only needing to make $1000 more a month. But we will work so that we don't get bored. Plus we're artists, so technically we will never retire. Anything extra we have will be nice. We are thinking of eventually buying some rental properties with cash. We shall see. Jason doesn't want to stay in security for the rest of his career and wants to use his GI bill up before it expires; He just doesn't know for what yet. Tulip, you are KILLING it! JSDNTl, thank you for updating the boards! I am staying on I had a great time this weekend. We bought stuff to put a garden box in our yard, and we got meat chickens! MMmm tasty. We only got five, and apparently the ones we got usually have a lot of problems, so we're going to try getting some hardier ones. This is our first time trying chickens, since we've never owned a our own place before. Jason tapped some of the birches for birch sap. OMG it is so tasty and energizing. He is making a batch of birch mead using birch water, honey, brown sugar and yeast. He says it's brewing a lot better than things he's done in the past, so the birch water is doing really well. We froze a bunch of it to use during the winter months. I am going to do so much collecting and gardening this summer I will be canning and giving a lot a way I'm sure. It is just so exciting! Is anyone else doing a garden this summer?

And Pay-no-Interest, I will catch up with you sooner or later! You're only $399 ahead of me. If all goes well this month, I will be putting a LOT of money towards loans in June.

Yea!!! We have paid off 50% on two of the loans! And almost 50% on another. Our total percentage paid off this last time was 1.1%, which is pretty darn exciting. Which if we keep that up, we will pay it off in 4.76 years. That is a little depressing, since we started this 4 years ago, so that would cut off only 1 year from the 10 years that it originally was supposed to be paid off. I suppose we aren't putting everything that we could towards the loan as we are funding house projects. Once the major ones are done, the amount that goes to the loans will increase, so will the percentage and amount we pay each month. I really want this to be paid off in two to three years. That is when the contract that Jason is on is up. It really sucks because ticket prices have gone up and the trip we're planning to Hawaii just jumped up tremendously to almost $3,000. The condo is already taken care of, but we've been saving up for the tickets, and we don't have enough right now. I am going to probably end up using the money I saved for summer because with Jason's position, it takes care of all of the bills, and I may be moving to a salary compensation. I think I will wait until I hear about that to buy the tickets. Plus, Jason and I haven't actually talked about where the money for the tickets will come from.

Muffyinthe Red 05/16/2014 $78,540.51 (9/9/08 $128,662.37 S373, SU395, PRO 77, 81, 86, 137) NC Paid off since joining $50,121.86 Percentage: 39% Paid this month: $145.26 Medical Bills $422.51 -59.00 = $363.51 CU Savings - $1,630.11
It has been a hard month. My husband is going for an MRI on June 2 for Prostate Cancer. Then we go to the doctor on the 12th. Then we find out if he has to have surgery. At least we know that Duke will take payments toward a bill there. Thank God!
At least this month I hit the $50,000 paid off! Yaaaaaaaa Wish I was celebrating that it is all paid off but hopefully the next half won't take as long as the first half. I will be starting to collect Social Security as of Sept. 1 so hopefully that extra money will help the total to go down faster. But have to worry about taxes. Not so much for the 4 months this year but definitely next year.
Welcome to all the new people and congratulations to all the payoffs. Keep up the good work.

I have a new Zero! I now have a snowball of $10 but it's a good start. I will add it to the $15 I pay towards the Bank CC and that debt will pick up some speed!

Hey everyone....funny that I post to say that I'm still living and it looks like my co-captain has been busy too! I just moved, doing a travel assignment in Manning SC. I had to turn in cable equipment before I left and then had to wait for a hook up when I got here. All said and done, it was almost 3 weeks since I've been online on my computer! I had access for some stuff with my phone but the charts could not be done via that!
So yes, I'm back on the road. I had a couple big expenses before I left so I may have somewhat neutralized the headway I was making. I was hoping to be paid off at the end of the summer but I'm still paying off my hefty tax bill (it's on a non-raced card) but it should be done this month. Hopefully I can start throwing money at my only CC that has a balance. Although I won't be paid off, hopefully I can be under 10k or more.
I'm hoping to stay sane and lay low this summer to save up money but it might be hard. The town I'm in is crazy small. I blew thru a tank of gas just going places to keep busy this weekend. I don't think I'll be able to drive almost 4 hours round trip to the beach each weekend but I sure would like to! To even go to a movie I have to drive close to an hour. Shopping, beyond for food, is non existent. It's a short assignment and then I move on to somewhere else. I just hope it goes as quickly as possible!
Keep the updates coming. I'll do an update by the weekend.
Nice to see you post, Ris!

Update: $9,790.00 ( 7/20/07 $33,441.00 N3848)Greeting everyone;I hope everone's Memorial Day was a good one. We just enjoyed the day with family. Job is going well for me. DH turned 62 earlier this month and is retiring. He filled out all of his paper work 2 months ago for Social Security, and they sent him a letter stating he will receive a check in July. Not sure why it takes 2 extra months to receive a check, but that is were we are. He still plans to do the contract work, which is not everyday or everyweek for that matter. I just do not believe it is going to be enough monies, but we will see. House is still not finished, but a work in progress, hopefully it will be completed in July when he gets his check. Just tried of talking about it. Our youngest grandson graduated from Pre-K to K-1, he is just growning so fast! Take care everyone, until next time! If I missed shouting out to you please forgive me. UPDATE: Sparks2710 5/31/14 $8,751.05 (1/1/14 $ 14,316.93)

Ok guys. This is my updated chart. I did the balance transfer with BOA and have 0% interest for 15 months. I have already made 2 payments which has brought my balance down. I think by doing the transfer I will help myself pay these debts off quicker. I will hopefully be selling the travel trailer that I purchased for my grandfather at the end of last year and I will be able to apply that money towards the loan. He has decided he does not want to live in the camper and is leaving me with the payments. We are going to clean it up and list it in the next few weeks. Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Happy racing!

Pay-no-interest: $91,900 (05/07 - $369,884) %paid on the mortgage: 51.1% Total amount paid off: $277,984 %total paid off: 75.2% Now that I have my new stove, I decided I wanted to update the rest of my kitchen. It is amazing what scrubbing, sanding, priming, and paint can do to make a kitchen look like new! DH and I ripped a set of cabinets and shelves that weren't put in very well and they didn't look good and he is building new shelves for me. The depth is only 12" which is why I'm not putting in cabinets on the top. I think the shelves will create a more "open" feel and make the kitchen seem bigger. DH is going to install an over the range microwave for me. This will give me more counter space. I really pleased with the results. If I could figure out how to insert an image without needing a URL to do it, I'd post pics. Does anyone know how to do this? All in all (without the cost of the appliances), this entire project will cost me $500 and my time. Now that the semester is over. I have much more time I hope everyone's summer is going well for them!

Paynointerest... I thought about getting a new stove over the winter, and after looking, I think I need a commercial duty My canners break a regular stove down over time, or maybe I'm just making excuses. I'm still using the old broken down one but I truly hate it, lol. Hiya to everyone. Hope all is well. We are doing pretty good... Congrats on the wins!
