Hi Fellow WIRRS! <BR><BR>I hope everyone is doing well. We decided not to modify this race and go ahead and pay off the Home Depot loan as planned and then we can pay off the rest of our kitchen remodel after this is gone. Only two more payments and this loan should be gone. We are making good progress on our kitchen and should have it done by the end of this upcoming weekend. The floors turned out amazing so we are so glad we did that. The remodel will cost more than we expected but it will truly be our dream kitchen and we are glad we did it. It won't take us that long to get it paid off so I am not that worried about it. It is just hard bleeding money for a month when you are used to paying down debt so aggressively for so long. It is all good though. It has been a busy month and I haven't had much free time but it will be so worth it in the end.<BR><BR>Happy Racing!

I've graduated from the $100K club!
Yes folks, after 6 years and 3 months I finally broke $100K in debt. Whew. Slow and steady right?
08/01/13: $99,880.00 (05/07: 369,884)
Total paid off: $270,004.00 % of total: 73%
% of mortgage: 46.9%
Deepintx: I'm sure you will enjoy your new kitchen and once it is in, you can have a renewed focus on getting your debt down. Your "going out to eat" bill should go way down now that you'll love cooking in your new kitchen right?

Holy cow...I've not posted anything in a MONTH! And I guess I haven't updated my numbers in over 2 months because I've fallen off the list. I have been so bad with making my weekly or bi-monthly payments like I used to. And here I was all excited because it seemed like I had a little extra money floating around! I had to scramble tonight to get some payments in that would have been late. With me doing the bi-monthly payments, each payment is more than the minimum so I never have late fees or anything but I've totally blanked out this month. I'm going to have a late fee one account and that pisses me off. UGH! I haven't had a late fee on any account in probably 15+years.
My job is slowly getting busier. That actually could be the reason for me being MIA: my job is really depressing me I think. We have a new therapist in our office who is horrible. I actually double checked his credentials because he has done some things that make me question if he really is a licensed and certified therapist. He's not a quick learner either: he's been working with us for 8 weeks and has used my name 2x and he still needs help with just about everything. I think he is just sucking the life out of me.
I'm going to sit down and run my numbers and post my update. I can almost guarantee that my numbers are not pretty. At least my 0% interest numbers should be going down, it's the one interest bearing account that can't seem to decrease. I just want to get some of the bills off my ledger!
Carolina: what a tale to tell!
Paynointerest: wahoo on getting under $100k! Your payoff is very inspiring
Nasa: nice payoff and I hope you're feeling better
3js: it's been raining something awful here too. This has been one of the worst summers I can remember. Luckily I never see the sky while I'm at work so I can't be too depressed that I'm not at the beach
RRRis: those numbers keep going down!
I'll get to more shoutouts later. I can't even figure out where July went. Does anyone have a clue?

Hmm....not really a paydown. Might be time to get back on the road. I could be making 2x the money (at least) and no rent.

Guess who is getting smart again and is back. For the most part doing cash but have managed some small loans/cards. The larger loan is due to lovely Bank of America and them trying to screw me and take my house. But it was manageable. Can't wait to catch up with my fellow racers. Given that I didn't know where I left off and log in issues, I have a new account and here is my new info: CleanSlate13: 8/1/2013 $48,055.02 (8/1/13 $48055, S160) Total Paid to Date: $ 0 Emergency Fund $279.61 Type | 08/01/2013 | | | Change | Loan#1 | 2,214 | | | 0 | Bill#1 | 109 | | | 0 | Bill#2 | 188 | | | 0 | Bill#3 | 2,002 | | | 0 | Bill#4 | 496 | | | 0 | Loan#2 | 2,767 | | | 0 | Auto | 21,270 | | | 0 | SL#1 | 19,010 | | | 0 | Totals | 48,055 | 0 | 0 | 0 |

Are you aware that your tagline says your debt is $48,052, but your numbers only add up to $35,499?

Update 8/8/13 $10,050.00 (7/20/07 $33,441.00 N3848) Greeting WIRR South Region Ok, let’s just jump right in……looking at my pay down on my spread sheet, there are only two accounts that are going down, due to the fact, we have used them to pay for items to repair the house. So, getting under $10,000 is really going to be a slow process, (but stilled encouraged) . Remember, not racing the amounts that we charged for the house repairs. We finally got the sheet rock up, and we will be moving on to the other things and hopefully we will be done with everything in 30 days. Can I say we are out of monies…….just plum out of cash. Everything, we do now is truly us and cc, should have just been us in the whole process but you know, family members will not act right, and I am just not going to go under the house. But we are getting there, I think. Husband is still not working fulltime, and I not sure what is going on with him. We talk, but I am not sure what else to say, you know how sometimes you talk to someone and you come away with the feeling noting was accomplish. It is so frustrating on so many levels, but you hang in there hoping it will get better. I am not sure if things get better, it just works outs. You have to really work on the getting better thing, that is where I am. You know I sometimes feel like, I am running as fast as I can and I am still not getting anywhere, not with my finances but with my life. You see, I was talking to my husband the other day stating that we have been a little on the lazy side, meaning not taking care of what belongs to us. Like we work hard for our jobs, but our jobs don’t belong to us, we can’t take them with us or they can’t make us any monies. But that house we have could, and we have just not taken care of what can and is going to take care of us so that is why we are where we are. Also, we need a plan for our life and going forward, lack of planning is not good. …..hhmmmm ……Still have not talked about a plan. Anyway, until next month, keep up the good work in paying down your debt. Don’t let debt get you down, tell debt “it’s going down”. CarolinaKat – Great update! Red Ruby – Good luck on your goal to be $75K by August 31, you can do it! 3jsmon32 – Great update, those zero’s look great! Nasagreen – Almost half way there, this is great! You know that is just great, I remember when I was half way there, I could hardly believe that we had done that. Forwardwego – Thanks for all the shout outs, you are the best! Goalofzero – Thanks for the encouragement, and the shout outs. Great update! Paynointerest – Great update! Congratulations on your graduation from the $100K club!!!! Deepintx – Hang in there it gets better! Muffyinthered – Great update, some months are better than others, I know all too well. Redracerris – Great update! Speechchick71 – Great update! Jdnstl – Great Update! Dimplesnlj – Great update! Cleanslate13 – Welcome back! Trojen3 – Great update and Happy Anniversary!

Hi All, it's been a while since I've posted an update mostly due to traveling and some crazy work weeks. Even though my Home D and Auto numbers have gone down since my last post my total numbers have ticked up about $150. I had to use my Cap1 card for travel but I am attempting a balance transfer on that card so hopefully I can hasten the reverse on that.
UPDATE Classof2015: 8/9/2013 $9,984 (2/11/13, $15,138, S151) Interest rate Starting Debt Current Debt Difference CC#1 - Citi 7.99% $2,291 $0 ($2,291) CC#2 - Cap1 17.90% $2,685 $2,148 ($537) CC#3 - HomeD 22.99% $6,393 $5,794 ($599) Car loan 5.75% $3,769.93 $2,041.96 ($1,728) Total $15,138 $9,984 ($5,154)
Thanks All!

Happy Tuesday. Nothing new, just saying hi. Great updates everyone. I may do individual shoutouts later, but wanted to congratulate everyone for the great effort into gaining financial peace of mind. Is anyone struggling? Are we all kind of set into a habit? Is anyone great at budgeting? I'm not , but I shop as cheaply as possible to make up for it, lol. I have room to improve though. Anyone find any good buys at a yard sale or thrift store? Any good coupon deals that just made you laugh as you drove home? Anybody find money at just the moment they were going to have to charge, and were saved from it? Anyone else have medical bills kicking their butt right now? That's something we are going through. One ER visit is so costly. Anyone getting ready to swoop down and pounce on the last vestiges of a bill that you've hated? We need some chatter. This never used to be a silent group. Sigh.....

Update: nasagreen 8/13/13 $79,269.81 (7/21/07 $144,371.69) Well, we are slow and steady again, paying off $1,608.94 since my last update a month ago. I would love to pay more but we are cautiously also saving for baby. The truck loan is now rapidly diminishing and that should be paid off by December! Wow, that is so exciting. I remember when we bought it. How bad a decision it was; then MP Dunleavey contacted me and we were in an article about big purchase regrets on msnmoney.com. Ugh!!! But it was a huge regret and we stayed with it and finally it will be paid off. I'll be so grateful to have a way to cover the additional day care expense of a 2nd child. This summer we got money for my husband's job as his extra pay and I've put it as much as I can on his credit cards, so that is finally starting to come down. We are at 15.99% and sometimes I wonder about transferring some of the balance to a 0%. But then I just think about how sometimes that can change your credit score, etc. It is almost a temptation to keep moving things and I've been at it so long that I'd rather not go do that again. 3jsmom31 - I'm set in the habit of allowing the month to fly by without really scrutinizing my budget/expenses to the best of my ability, which leads to excess and waste. Just like food I suppose. When you are really tight, you are forced to keep up an efficiency, but then as the time goes by, that becomes exhausting. I have bought all my maternity clothes at Salvation Army, they even have a Maternity clothes rack, and it is like $4 per shirt, $6 per pants, which is so much better than the mall. I am starting to worry about Christmas, but haven't seen as many good deals this early as I usually have. Then we had the truck's 4x4 gear box break and had to use the money that we had just gotten paid $1200 from summer jobs to that, but at least it wasn't on a credit card!! And as for medical bills, I found out that at our hospital, if you let the bill go to collections to set up a monthly payment (like you tell the hospital you can't pay it all at once and ask for a payment plan, then here it goes to a collections agency, a 3rd party they use to get the money), then the collections agency will offer a 30% discount on the total of the bill if you can pay in full. That dropped my thyroid biopsy bill down from $1500 to $1000 basically. I was so happy that I figured that out a while ago. Maybe that would help you

Hey all....I agree with you, 3js, it IS quiet! I don't have anything really new and exciting to report but I have a few things buzzing around and I could use some help.
I am really struggling with my job/career. I submitted my resume for a travel job that starts in October in Ft. Myers FL. The pay rate isn't that great but if I lived at my dad's house and took the housing stipend, I could be doubling my salary that I am currently making. It would mean spending at least 2 hours of my day in the car but to do it for 3 months, it might be a good idea. I would also have to break my lease which would cost me 2 months of rent from the time I submit it....but it would also save me from paying until January. My plan is to sell all my furniture (I hate it anyway) and only have a very small storage place for all the trinkets I've collected on my travels. Overall, I don't think I can pass up the money right now.
Second, because of my struggles with my career, I'm going to start taking some adult ed in the tech field and this is where I could use some help from anyone already in it. I think I've been able to tolerate (notice I didn't say "love") my career for this long is because I was switching kids and workplaces and bosses every couple months. Now, I'm here with co-workers who are so unprofessional that it's almost embarrassing, an owner who has no backbone, and paychecks that are pitiful. I've been wanting to change fields for a long time and think I should start heading toward electronic medical records. I was looking at jobs with one of the largest companies in that area and found some jobs I could probably do but they talked about SQL and Project Management Certification as a preferred qualification. I did some research on the project management but found that there are a ton of different tracks. Does anyone know more about this to give me some direction? Or even direction on who to ask? I'm going to do an intro and then an intermediate class on SQL from the local adult learning center (6 weeks for $89? deal!). I feel like just sending a resume to see if there might be a good place for me. Problem: I don't want to move to Kansas City. Luckily, one of the jobs I thought I could do was in Naples.
3js: you asked about expenses? Yep, gonna have some for my Jeep! 186k miles, 9 years old, oil leak and possibly a coolant leak. Part of me really wants to keep holding onto it but part of me says to make it sale-able and it. Because of my job being the way it is, I'm actually concerned that I might not get a loan! That is another reason for me thinking that I should get back into the travel business: have a steady paycheck! That, and insurance, plus 401k! I can't believe I've now lived a year without insurance. This has been a horrible 12 months of finances.
Ok, diatribe is over. So much is running around in my brain. It's amazing that I sleep as well as I do! Must be my sleep number bed...love it.

nasa, thank you. I've been waiting to get all the bills in. Getting a couple a week, still don't think we have all of them. 30% would be a fantastic help, and we could maybe pay it, but it will be close. Are there any penalties or tax problems with doing that? I am so freaked about this Obamacare stuff. What the heck does it all mean to the average person who isn't on and doesn't want welfare? Scary bureaucratic nonsense, lol. December isn't that far away to wave bye-bye to a truck payment. It will be in the nick of time . How are you feeling? I know, I keep doing the same thing. I'm so sick of Facebook, though, and I miss the exchange we had on here ... We don't have to scrutinize to exhaustion, but the little challenges can be fun.... We have been spending a bit more than we should at restaurants... Just the drive thru snack, but we could wait til we are home and eat healthier food..... Maybe that will be my personal goal, to cut down on it. We used to always make fun things at the house instead, and that's a direction I'd like to move in.... speechchick! I love to hear about your travels, so keep us posted . You have a healthy relationship with "stuff", and selling it to avoid big storage expenses is just smart. I loved your commercial for the bed, lol Maybe someday we will try it out, after all the bills are paid.... Do you have a buddy who works on cars? Shops charge so much and the two problems you describe could be simple fixes, but you're unlikely to hear that from a shop. At the same time, a buddy who hasn't a clue can cost you parts and then you still take it to the shop. That's my 2.5 cents... My DH keeps our vehicles running, so he saves on labor costs.

speedchick: How much is your monthly rent? Are you losing money by staying at your current job? By that I mean, are you making a lot less than your monthly expenses? I'm the cautious type and would hate to pay 2 months rent when I wasn't even in the place. I know you hate where you are working, but could you gut it out for those two months and then get back to your travelling gigs? Or would what you make on the travelling gig warrant paying 2 months rent? Also, I thought the travelling work paid for your room/board. Do they pay you that even if you're living with your dad? If so, then I guess that would take care of those two months of rent.

Goalofzero: you're really "zeroing" in on that goal! Good for you!
Murphath: if I do a travel gig, they either provide housing for me or they give me $$ toward housing that I can find on my own. I've always been hesitant to do it because in a word, I'm lazy (is that 2 words?). I never wanted to have to find a place once I arrived because it makes finding something to hold me over much more difficult with a cat. Plus, I'd have to deal with deposits, getting them back when I leave, etc. It was just easier for me to let them do all the work. So if this job ends up panning out, I can just take the tax free money. And yes, if I end up cancelling my current lease, one month of the housing stipend would actually cover the penalty for cancelling that lease. I sort of look at it this way: my lease ends in mid-January so if I stayed, I would pay Sept-mid Jan which is 4.5 months. If I cancel in October, I would pay for Sept, part of Oct, and the 2 month penalty...saving me one month worth of rent. But I would also be ahead in my regular salary plus adding to a 401k again and insurance.
The whole issue with the situation is that the rehab manager called me on Monday and left a message, asking for times that I would be available to talk on Tuesday and Wednesday...then I never heard from her. I called again on Thursday with my available times for Thursday and Friday and never heard from her. I told my recruiter and she is going to figure out what happened. I'm just ready to get out of here. Job #2, which I work only on Tuesday mornings and Fridays, has an owner who yelled at me again...because I told him I could no longer see a couple kids due to their schedule changes. This is the 3rd time. And I once witnessed him yelling at one of the girls in the office and then later found out that she is his wife. I can't work for someone like that. I never signed a contract with him but he's telling me I need to give 60 BUSINESS days notice. I am to the point that I hate this man and I avoid the office like the plague.
3js: I could really go on and on about my bed. They aren't as expensive as people think, especially considering how long they last. I just talked my friend into buying 2... a queen and king, she got mid-range level, and got out of there for less than $3k. She said she paid almost $2k for her king bed less than 10 years ago and it is almost unsleepable now. With the SleepNumber beds, you never get that "pit" because of the air chambers keep it all even. I paid more than her but I got almost the top of the line bed. I figure if I'm going to spend so much time in it, I wanted it to be good. Plus I like that it is relatively portable. If I travel, it goes with me and I can fit it in my Jeep.
Also! I was talking to one of the parents who brings his kid to our office. He works on cars! He said to bring the Jeep by and he would check it out. He has been working on the car of the former owner for 11 years already. I figure he'll be honest with me because he has to see my face every week! Hopefully I can get it to him next Thursday or Friday.
I wonder where CleanSlate is?

Speech, DH and I were halfheartedly looking at beds, and the prices are shocking. I've never considered the sleep number because I figured it'd be even more costly. I'll have to look at them when we get really serious. You are right, we spend a lot of time in a bed, so being comfortable is/should be important. Good luck with the car Guys? Everyone? How are you? Whatcha doin? Anything exciting going on? How's work? Are you budgeting well or getting lax (like me?) Seen anything good at the grocery store? Anything bad? Enjoying life or feeling like it's drudgery? Helllllooooooo?!? Anyone else wanna chat? I'll keep bugging you guys til we get some chatter ....
