I think everyone should have free health care. It should be considered a basic right just like education.

Well, there is enough money for it if we didn't spend it all on wars for no reason and all the corruption.

And that's just the older people, Paul. The income guidelines for free or very cheap will put nearly everyone now uninsured on what amounts to Medicaid. I've been saying it for a long time-- most people that can afford insurance have insurance. There are exceptions, of course, but most of the newly insured will be free or dirt cheap. No WAY it will save the country $$$$. My deal is if people want it for humanitarian reasons, fine, say so. But stop saying it is going to save money, because it clearly won't.

As for costly wars-- Obama has developed a taste for war. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for wars to end at this point.

Interesting. In what way and why? Do you think he believes it makes him more popular?

As the old song says-Nothing in life is free. I support emergency medical care when needed. however when people eat themselves to death, take wild and crazy risks, use drugs, alcohol and smoking then they should be on their own.

Of course Handyman (good to see you I haven't seen you since we moved boards) I would only support basic health care not non essential services.

Well, Pig, he is gung ho for Libya, against the wishes of most people. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan-- we will hear more tonight on TV, but they are going strong.. we are bombing Yemen, and I would not be surprised if we don't get involved in more wars.. I think it is all part of this global crap going on, and we are far from ending our conflict in the ME/Africa, even though WE THE PEOPLE, both sides of the aisle from what I can read, are war weary. I don't think we are not going to be in some war, or wars, for a very long time, maybe ever. That's JMO, based on many things I read, hear, etc. Living in a border state, the invisible war area, this makes me pretty mad, truth be told..

Do you think the US is taking advantage of all the chaos in the middle east to impose it's will?

I believe that air is a basic right. Everything else (including food) you should work for if you are able.

You are not entitled to the knowledge, skill, ability This board shows that this statement is all too true. Education should be given free to anyone with the ability to complete it.

So they will get "free" HC & then have to pay through higher taxes for themselves & someone poor. Well thought out plan (not).

Yep-- and then buckle up for the demagoguery. Democrats will blame it on evil rich corporations screwing the workers out of healthcare. The media will dutifully report it as such, and the Democrats will propose the government to the rescue. But you don't have to take MY word for it. Obama stated this is his goal:

More Democrat unintended consequences. This consequence must REALLY rankle since it benefits the class that is slated for destruction by the one worlders.

You want it free, but it's NOT free. You propose it- you do it. Otherwise, you're using force to take from one person to give to another. That is slavery. When someone works for someone else without renumeration at the point of a gun- that is slavery.

Well, there is enough money for it if we didn't spend it all on wars for no reason and all the corruption. And it would cost a lot less if government outlawed fatty, unhealthy foods and legislated minimum daily exercise routines a maximum BMI for every individual. I like playing make believe...your turn.

They'll be tinkering with this FOREVER. This looks to be something Pubs could fix, like the national exchange they were BSing about... Medicaid (and the rest pf health reform) is cheaper for the country than ER care, people on welfare to get care (or prison!!), all the bankruptcies, death, and chaos we have today. Just like an amnesty for "good" illegals and a real work ID would bring in a lot of money from new tax payers. Wow, it's like a modern country or something

If you wish to consume a good or a service, you pay for it. If you don't pay for it, someone else does. I didn't say THEY wouldn't be paid, I said those consuming the service would be getting it paid for by others- involuntarily.

That system has worked well in Europe for quite a while.
