Peter Walsh’s 31 Days to Get Organized Challenge:
Day 1 -Set up a donation bin. And, everyone in your house finds 5 items to place in the bin.
Day 2 - Shoes. Gather all of your shoes up from your closet. If they have dust on them, don’t fit, etc, put them in your donate bin. Only keep shoes you love, wear, and that fit you well.
Day 3 - Home Safety. Being organized is not just about closets and files, it's also about ensuring the best life for you and your family. The New Year is a great time to check smoke detectors in your home. Make this your 10 minute challenge for the day and make your family a little safer in the process!
Day 4 - This year’s challenge Mantra is “No more later” aka stop procrastinating. Today's challenge is to contact someone, preferably by phone, that you’ve been putting off. It could be a friend, family member, for more coworker, etc, but do it today!
Day 5 - The Junk Drawer.
Day 6 - Holiday Decorations. The holidays are over and it's time for the decorations to come down.
Day 7 - Bathroom cabinets! Pick one bathroom cabinet, and get rid of anything too old, expired or you don’t use, and put everything away in its proper space.
Day 8 - Plastic Food Storage Containers.
Day 9 - Hanging Clothes. In his video, he says that anything that has dust on it needs to go.
Day 10 - the mail. If you have mail pretty much all over your house then today's the day we're going to get that sorted out.
Day 11 - under the sink.
Day 12 - Clear out old magazines, catalogs, flyers, etc.
Day 13 - Gift wrap
Day 14 - space underneath your bed
Day 15 - Getting the fridge & freezer organized.
Day 16 - "The Lower Third Technique"! (For those notmwatchint the videos on Facebook, it’s basically to take a stack or pile of clothing and focus on the bottom 1/3 of the stack, as you’ll likely find you can donate most of that part of the pile).
Day 17 - Bills & Receipts.
Day 18 of #31Days2GetOrganized has you back in the kitchen dealing with the cupboard that holds your cups and mugs. One of the quickest ways to get a disorganized kitchen looking more organized is to attack this one cupboard. Because when you've gotten rid of the excess cups and mugs - and you can finally close that cupboard door easily - you'll know you can get your entire kitchen back under control! #Cups #Mugs #ItsAllTooMuch #LetItGo

Unpaid bills go in your mail tray from Day 10 of the challenge. Paid bills and receipts have a home in an expanding file. Get one! #ItsAllTooMuch #LetItGo #NewYearsResolution #Declutter #Organize #NoMoreLater #Bills #Receipts

I say this with all seriousness: Death first. Walmart was recruiting me out of business school and this was one of many reasons I refused their overtures. I am an introvert and a private person. I am a light sleeper. I can't use the bathroom if there's a possibility anyone can hear me. It is simply not feasible for me to share rooms during work travel. (As for walmart, I do respect that their rules apply across the entire organization, but still, NOPE.) I just learned a couple of days ago that they finally changed this policy a few years ago! Had dinner with a few of our WM contacts at a conference and this came up. Finally!

Day 15 of #31Days2GetOrganized has you back in the kitchen today. Simple exercise: Before you open its door, close your eyes and think about what an organized refrigerator might look like. Now go ahead and look and tell me how you did. Getting the fridge & freezer organized is one of those things that not only makes you feel better, it also can have serious positive effects on your and your family's eating. I look forward to hearing how you did! #Refrigerator #Freezer #Organization #ItsAllTooMuch #LetItGo

I don’t know the specifics for when the kids are inside outside of rain, or snow/sleet/ice on the playground, but in kindergarten, they played Legos, games or go noodle when hey had indoor recess. For first grade, they do games. The teacher has a pretty big assortment, and her wish item on the Giving tree at Christmas was for new games for indoor recess, so we bought some new ones for the classroom. I also happened to volunteer one indoor recess day, and saw that two of the three first grade classes were in one classroom, so the kids still got to interact with kids/friends from one of the other classes.
C does before and after Y-Care at school, and they always have gym time, so I am very appreciative that even on crappy weather days, he still gets opportunities to get the wiggles out.

My prediction for Day 14 of #31Days2GetOrganized is that you will either find this challenge a breeze or it will totally gross you out. There's generally very little in between when it comes to cleaning out the space underneath your bed. So, were you able to get this one done in a couple of minutes or were you close to needing some smelling salts before it was over?? I can't wait to hear! #UnderTheBed #LetItGo #ItsAllTooMuch

My youngest had a stomach bug that resulted in upchucking 4 times in the wee hours of yesterday morning, so yesterday involved a whole lot of laundry. Thankfully, everything got washed, dried and put away, except for the few things that need ironed, and those things are in my ironing pile.
I’m sitting on an airplane about to leave town until Tuesday for work, so nothing much will happen in the next couple of days.

Spoke too soon as round 4 arrived shortly after my previous post.
And this is apparently why we have so many PJs.

Nothing like an o-dark thirty wake up call for a puking toddler...on you and all over your bed. Get both of us cleaned up and showered while DH changes sheets, and get the washing machine going...and she does it again. This time it was just her and the carpet, at least. Clean her up and change her again, and we get one more round, this time on her and DH. Now she’s finally back asleep in the recliner with me holding her. I’ve got an old blanket under us, and old towels and blankets handy in case round 4 comes along. But poor baby. And I’m supposed to fly to Atlanta on Sunday. Hoping this is a quick bug.

Brought in a sack of baby clothes that DD just outgrew to a coworker with a daughter in that size - Woo hoo! I need to go through some of her outgrown shoes and bring those in as well.

We just took down and put away our holiday decorations yesterday, so that one is done.
DH and I went through the closet by our garage entry this morning, sorted out what should go back in there, found some stuff to donate or trash, and got things out back away.

I think that's a great idea tcu2003 , both having the kid(s?) contribute to the decluttering and the one in/one out rule. (I don't know how old C and M are so I don't know if M is participating too lol.) C is 6-1/2 and M is 2. We’re purging baby toys that are too little for her, but she’s not really helping decide what goes and stays. She does help pick up and put away her toys, though.

We warmed C that between now and his birthday (in June), we need to get rid of at least 500 things from our house if he wants a party. It doesn’t all have to be toys, as we have baby/kid clothes and other stuff to get rid of, but everyone needs to pitch in and participate.
We also told him that we’re now on a one in, one out policy. So if he gets a toy in a kids meal or convinces his nana or grandma to get him something when he’s with them, to keep it, he has to pick something at home to donate. Sure enough, he convinced nana to buy him a new 10-piece toy set when they went to the zoo yesterday, and he had a toy from a kid meal from lunch. He wasn’t happy when I reminded he needed to find 11 things to donate (or trash, depending on the item), but he did it. A couple of items ended up in the trash and the rest are in our donate box.
I also have some of M’s clothes that she’s recently outgrown in a bag to take to a coworker for his daughter. Baby steps, but it’s progress!

For yesterday’s Peter Walsh Challenge, I called my dentist’s office. For whatever reason, I’ve super procrastinated making an appointment and was very overdue. I called at 115, and they said, can your make it at 2 because we have an opening, otherwise it’ll be awhile. My schedule all afternoon was clear, so not only did I schedule the appointment, I’m now also done with it. And no cavities/issues, so yay. I need to call a pediatric dentist and make appointments for the kids, but the one recommended time is closed on Fridays, so I’ll do that on Monday.

Peter Walsh’s 31 Days to Get Organized Challenge:
Day 1 -Set up a donation bin. And, everyone in your house finds 5 items to place in the bin.
Day 2 of #31Days2GetOrganized - Shoes. Gather all of your shoes up from your closet. If they have dust on them, don’t fit, etc, put them in your donate bin. Only keep shoes you love, wear, and that fit you well.
Day 3 of #31Days2GetOrganized - Home Safety. Being organized is not just about closets and files, it's also about ensuring the best life for you and your family. The New Year is a great time to check smoke detectors in your home. Make this your 10 minute challenge for the day and make your family a little safer in the process!
Day 4 - #31Days2GetOrganized - This year’s challenge Mantra is “No more later” aka stop procrastinating. Today's challenge is to contact someone, preferably by phone, that you’ve been putting off. It could be a friend, family member, for more coworker, etc, but do it today!
Day 5 of #31Days2GetOrganized 2019 - The Junk Drawer.

Embracing, not bracing. First check of the year (today) included my raise and bonus from last year. We increased sales by 200% and staff by 38% in my first year of managing the BD work so today was a good day for me financially! Congrats and way to go!

Plus my checking account gets a static amount each month. My savings gets the remainder so any fluctuations are pretty much a non issue and not noticed. This is what my DH and I do as well. Bonuses are usually a little wonky as they follow the same prescription, so we get extra in our accounts when that happens as they’re also direct deposited. We usually transfer over money a couple of times a year from savings to checking (or really, pay the CC bill from savings instead of checking) when things like home/auto renewals are due, or property taxes, or vacations.
