In other news, I finished assembling the kettle BBQ.
What a pain in the ass! Lots of tiny nuts and washers. I lost half of them, and had to improvise. I'll put some chicken on this evening, even though the lease says no BBQs. Thing is, most people here have one. It also says no dogs, but there are 2 dogs in the building. It also says no washing machines, but my upstairs neighbour has one.
The big corporation which owns these buildings, well, they never come around. They rely on Bernard, the super, to keep things kosher. Bernard is pretty easy going, and he likes me. It should be OK.

Thanks, guys. Yes, the reviews said it takes a while for the smell to sibside. I'll air it out in Simon's room, since he's not using it anymore, and most of his stuff is gone.

My mattress is about 20 years old and it's not that comfortable anymore. I can't afford a new one, with Sushi's constant blood tests and meds, and my dental costs. I need 2 root canals and crowns. So, I ordered one of those gel memory foam mattress toppers, hoping to make my bed more comfortable. Has anyone tried that?

I am out of sorts. I understand how one person can change a whole vibe, but that does mean I have to like it. I have ignored Mr. Messy sitting on the sofa in my den with a blanket draped over his head, looking like an idiot, for most of the afternoon. I got over the shit about liquor. But every fucking time he takes that blanket off his head, it’s to say something crazy or complain about something. Everything we cooked today is nasty. Mister just ran to the store and as soon as he left, Mr. Messy had Kiddo bring him another comforter. So, now that’s 2 blankets and a comforter in the den. I asked him why did he have Kiddo bring him yet another cover and he said he’s cold. I said well do you need to go to bed? UGHHHHHH! While I was typing this, he came to the door, I’m back outside on the deck even though it’s dark and I don’t like sitting out here by myself anymore, and asked me if he goes to bed, will I come wrap him up real good. I promise I’m not making that up. I said NO. He said why not. I said BECAUSE I DON’T WANT TO. What the fuck was that?! Please tell me I took that the wrong way, but I will fight old people. That man needs a guardrail around him.

Even the Kraft Macaroni and Cheese has to be different to be sold in Canada. The powdered cheese HAS to be antibiotic and hormone-free. They're real sticklers about that.

Maybe his handlers will let him read an email from a little old white lady in Canada, and maybe not. We shall see. His people definitely read his mail. I arranged to have Presidential Greetings on the occasions of their 65th wedding anniversary and 90th birthdays. I have those and they are not going to my sister--ever I might give them to a cousin's wife, who worked hard enough on his first campaign that she was invited to the White House for a thank you party after he was in office. Oh, I know. Maybe after ascertaining that there are no viruses on the videos, they MIGHT let him see it.

It’s been a pretty good afternoon. Mister had just started the grill when I got home. He wanted to experiment and smoke a turkey to make smoked turkey salad. That turned into putting a pork tenderloin out there as another experiment, and I cut up some potatoes, and got some broccoli together to go out there too. Now there’s a few salmon filets out there too lol. DS is cleaning the flowerbed around the mailbox up. Mister was talking about finding someone to cut down 1 of the crape myrtles that seems to be dead, and get all of the junk out of the flowerbed (including the irises I really liked my flowers I’d planted, since he killed it all ), and I asked if he wanted me to ask DS to do it. He said yes, and DS readily agreed, even before I told him Mister is going to pay him. I love that kid! DS likes my broccoli, so that’s why I threw some of that on the grill. When he gets done or just quits for the day, he’ll at least have dinner. I got irritated when I walked through the den from the kitchen a few minutes ago with a cup in my hand and Mr. Messy said “you got some LIQUOR?”. Before I could catch myself, I snapped “WHY do you keep asking me about liquor? Do YOU want some liquor?”, but I kept walking and didn’t hear what he said, if anything. I’ve let it go now, but Imma have to keep praying. I have zero patience and tolerance for him these days, and I don’t really want to be like that. I was doing good until he asked me that. Oh Lord! He's still there? .....and, since you're now a gardener, it's crepe myrtle....no offense. You might have a gardening website some day.

two 8oz blocks of cheddar cheese- $4Wait....what? That's a steal! Where is this? $2 for an 8oz block of cheddar cheese. Generic. American. Probably full of GMO's and hormones and antibiotics. At the discount big box store. Deep south. Very low COLA compared to the rest of the US. Even though my metropolitan area is higher COLA than the surrounding metro areas. Also pay taxes on top of that two bucks. No tax free groceries in this state. 8 to 10 percent depending on where I shop. I mean, it's not New Zealand grass fed white cheddar But it's good enough for a couple of casseroles. Ouch! All meat and dairy products here are antibiotic and hormone free. That why thre was such an issue with the new NAFTA. Trump wanted to send a lot of milk to Canada and the Canadians weren't having it. Nope, nope nope! We don't want your milk. So dairy farmers in the US were having to throw their milk away. We pay taxes on prepared food only, like rotisserie chicken. Meat, dairy and produce not taxed. People have to eat. Tax on food is criminal.

I'm trying to put together my kettle BBQ. The box says it'll be ready in 10 minutes. Well, maybe for engineers! I struggled with it for half an hour, got half done and gave up. I'll do the rest tomorrow.

I sent him music from Uganda, Gambia, Senegal and Nigeria. I hope he enjoys it, if he even gets to listen to it. All that rap he listens to...ugh. Time to expand his horizons.
I mean, who wouldn't like this, especially after a very stressfull day?

I sent Barack Obama an email. We'll see what happens. Just to say Hi? 😉 I was bored last night. I saw his summer music playlist and it was abysmal. I didn't tell him that but sent him some African music. His dad was African, after all. Maybe he'll listen to it, maybe not. Most people are just not that familar with it.

Literally heating up a can of soup in my vehicle. As I still have no power, I am letting the solar heat built up in my vehicle heat up the can. Will pour into a bowl when warm enough. STILL? What are they saying is going on? Is there an ETA for the power coming back on? Do you have a BBQ to cook on?

DH had to work last night and then again this morning. We were sitting on the back porch having an afternoon coffee and chatting. Birds starting being noisy. Snake on the back porch. I noped right out of that and am inside with my coffee. DH is out there doing whatever it is he thinks he doing. Non venomous black snake. Not very big, but very quick. That is why I cut the grass in the front yard this morning. Kiddo and I need to be able to see any potential critters when we are walking back and forth between the car, the house, and the mailbox. The rain coming would have made the grass impossibly tall. I'd grab that snake and make a pet out of it. You should have seen my pets in California! Every kind of lizard and critter I caught.

DS's birthday was on the 18th and I still haven't seen him. I have his gift and his cake waiting for him. He said he'll probably come tomorrow. I ordered a small charcoal grill from Amazon and it came the other day. They sent me two and I didn't order two. Sending stuff back is a pain in the ass for me, so I'll gift them the other one. They don't have a BBQ. I tried putting mine together, but I'm not good at that stuff and I just gave up. Maybe he'll assemble mine tomorrow.

The guy had 4 massive djembe drums. So, the drums, the kora, the guitars made for a terrific show. I just got back from the pool. It was lovely. I missed the downpours. I swam nonstop for an hour. I really need to build up my strength. When I couldn't walk for 2.5 years, I just sat on the couch. Swimming is good for me, as I'm weak as a kitten. So nice to read that you’re enjoying life !! Thanks. I am. So glad to hear that you're doing well, with a great support system!

The Sona Jabarteh concert was terrific, one of the best shows I've ever been to! Absolutely wonderful! What a performer she is! The first womwn who mastered the kora. The guy playing the djembe drums was also a marvel. The beat reverberated through my bones and everyone was dancing. This 70 year old is so glad she went. I love the sound of a djembe! mooch has one, he'd play that when he had acoustic sets with his regular band. he'd occasionally take it out for jam sessions around the fire pit in my old backyard when we had a guitar player with us. I'm getting ready to go to the pool. I cancelled a dental appointment so I can go. We're in th middle of a severe thunderstorm watch with hail, but I'm still going, dammit! It's the only exercise that doesn't hurt. it does if you get caught in the hail! We had a hail storm last week that killed cattle! If it's hailing, I won't leave the Sports Complex.

DeSantis is an asshole. He's sueing Budweiswer, becuase they're woke and that made stock prices drop. They have a responsbility to their shareholders, apparently. This is a guy who would sue Perdue Pharma, the makers of Oxycontin which killed so many people, for stopping production. What about the shareholders, damnit? They deaere to rake in the money!

I confirmed my annual visit with my GP next week and filled out all the online questions like am I suicidal and how many times have I fallen in the last year. For once, I actually have a few questions for him - Can he submit an order for me to get my blood type since every travel form now asks for it?
- What are his thoughts on switching from my current cholesterol med to an older, cheaper version which the clinic wants me me to do and what's the monthly cost for staying with my current RX?
- The online portal now wants me to do a mammo every 2 years; is this his recommendation, best practice medically, or a cost-cutting mechanism from new ownership?
- Should I get the RSV vaccine when it becomes available? Will the clinic offer it or should I hunt it down elsewhere?
- Can I get another Covid booster through the clinic or do I have to hunt that down (and pay for it) somewhere else?
Any suggestions for additional questions I might want to ask? Mammograms are every two years here, too.

Drama - I must have missed what you are donating. I saw your first post and figured it was whole blood, but you said you did it last week and got paid, so I know that isn't the case! 😂 Is it plasma? Plasma. We've been hemorrhaging money this year so it's fast cash. And I've always wanted to but never hit the required minimum weight till now. I like the idea I am helping someone by donating. I couldn't do anything for my mom or my.MIL. Maybe I can for someone else. Holy cow! Rasure says that the local plasma center she uses allows people to go twice a week to donate, and that you can earn up to $800 in the first month. money.usnews.com/money/personal-finance/articles/what-to-know-about-donating-plasma-for-moneyIN Canada, you get nothing for plasma or blood.

I’m about 80% sure the cops and EMTs responding to a wreck I was in wouldn’t steal anything. All bets are off for bystanders, wrecker drivers, and hospital staff. If you are down, it’s pretty much like rats on garbageI don' know if I told you....there was a major grocery store here which forgot to lock its doors one holiday. People were wandering in buying something and leaving money at the cash register. Nobody stole anything, Some people shopped and came back the next day to pay. globalnews.ca/news/5009788/no-thefts-reported-after-kingston-grocery-store-accidentally-left-open-family-day/

Supper was Dragon Eye sushi, and now I'm enjoying Amarula on ice. I spent SO much money today! I need a handler when I go out. I haven't left the house much in the last ten days except to go to the pool. It's been too damned hot and smoggy with the wildfire smoke.
