"Before I went on & on about someone not knowing history (or in this case, a inaccurate poem) I would probably bring up that she (or he) was educated in a liberal school system where the main aim is that people feel good about themselves rather than actually being taught something (or being required to be able to read to graduate). I'm kind of surprised that nobody pointed that out but I assume that you all feel good about yourselves. Just my thoughts. " Well, I went to what some "neocons" would call a "liberal public school". So didn't most folks I grew up with. We all seem to be perfectly aware of the historical accuracy of Paul Revere. the Longfellow poem is also part of the standard curriculum for 3rd and 4th graders in this area. BTW, I graduated from college with a rather high GPA, didn't have a problem getting in and why yes, since you put it out there, i feel very good about myself. ;D she doesn't know a poem that talks about a very real person in this area's history. like cereb, I learned this poem way back in grade school. anyone that went to grade school in this area did. if she was trying to impress someone around here with her knowledge, she absolutely whiffed on it. but, what else is new?

Sarah has a way to go yet to be as bad as Dan Quayle....I had the misfortune of having to listen to our Vice President quite a bit in Houston and Washington DC in 1992 and that was not too pleasant to say the least...nice guy, good golfer but constantly putting his foot in his mouth...
BTW I think starting these threads by our resident Uper Liberals to lambast Sarah Palin are really silly and a lot of nonsense...or just small and petty ...or maybe attack her policies instead of attacking her IMHO

I like Sarah's daughter Pipper who is cute especially when she tries to protect her Mom from the press who only want to demonize this lady... There's an old Irish Quote.........."Any Man who likes to constantly denounce a Woman is NOT much of a Man.".. So if your thing is to demonize or denounce this lady then maybe you ought to get a life..IMHO.. I have to agree, this is a great ado about nothing..as I posted some where, her schedule was done a long time ago, doubt he had that long ago a statemnt as to when he was going to announce and where, and she is on a Bus tour, little interest in her pollitically, at least right now by me, so not paying attention, so have no clue as to what she is touring about. She hasn't announced herself as a candidate, thought she was just promoting herself, paying gigs, her business. Can't be just to see the countryside, to expensive this way, and her business is her...which is fine, people want to pay to hear her ideas..more power to her, the american way. All this hullabaloo..just more yadda, yadda from those who don't care for her and it seems coming from the left, understandable though to this middle to the left one, silly personally IMHO. In some cases though and also surprisingly to me , the right too. Now that one really puzzles me.

PI; I could not agree more. Karma to you. What I cannot understand is that those that hate her so much keep giving her so much press time. If she is such a bimbo as they suggest why not just ignore her. I am beginning to wonder who the idiots are in this case.

Sarah Palin is a divisive figure. But no matter ... news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_upshot/20110603/od_yblog_upshot/... Your link goes to a long list of Yahoo news stories. . . Sarah Palin is sure dumb.

Imagine standing in Boston and not knowing who Paul Revere was or what he did. He was also not the only rider that night either. Hell we even named a town and beach after him Revere Massachusetts where I spent a lot of time watching the bikinis in case one fell off..

Well she is a good looker but you are right not President material. To tell the truth I don't see anyone on either side that has presidential demeanor about them. I am hoping someone will come forward that does.

I am still holding out hope that Obama will be pushed out the door by the DNC and Hillary Clinton will run for president in 2012, but everyone thinks that is absurd.....oh well stranger things have happened....whoever thought that Nixon would be impeached or Bush 41 would pick a novice like Quayle as his running mate, or Bill Clinton would escape being impeached by just one vote..and etc and etc??
And how many here ever thought that John Edwards would be facing six criminal charges by a Grand Jury that could send him away for @ 30 years in prison....maybe my choice for president Hillary Rodham Clinton is not that absurd or complete nonsense...but listening to Romney bores me to death and Sarah's tired ole rhetoric is getting boring as well..

I would prefer Hillary. She has her warts, but no one would call her stupid or weak. I used to think so, tough. Not so sure anymore. She toes Obama's line real well. At least Colin Powell had the green gilled will to just say no when it got too stinky for him.

You should have seen the fireworks when I started a Hillary For President Thread......it went downhill really quick and ended up just competing to see who could have the best insults aimed at Bill and Hill ...oh well politics is dirty business

Handyman2 I didn't vote for Hillary in the Presidential Primary in 2008 but my better half read Elizabeth Edwards' book and she told me to vote for John Edwards or spend six months sleeping on the couch again ...so you guessed it I voted for John Edwards.. So I was strongly coerced to vote for that misfit and that is my story and I am sticking to it...

So painful. I wish she'd just stop it.
Maybe she has a mental condition that causes her to have brain freeze when she is asked a direct question?
When I got my first watch at age thirteen I was asked the time and I froze. I knew how to tell time, but the direct query just froze me for some reason. It happened several times after that and I stopped wearing a watch for years.
Also sometimes when I am asked a really simple question I freeze.
Can she really be that ignorant? Based on man on the street interviews done by various tv personalities I know there is deep ignorance of history and current events in this country, but could a semi-educated daughter of a school teacher really be that ignorant?
I think the worst aspect of her fumbles is that she can never laugh at herself and invite a little sympathy. Just like Barack Obama can't. That might worse than ignorance.

Toughtimes,
If I remember correctly (and this is from Gladwell's book - I haven't checked the references yet) The other riders did ride farther but Revere being a better networker (he knew a lot of people from various towns along his route) actually raised more people to go out.
Gladwell used it as an example of connections along with the Milgram experiment of the six degrees of separation.

I'm always amused reading posts regarding Palin's intelligence, which are riddled with spelling and grammar mistakes one would expect of a sixth grader. Warsaw never fails to deliver... Stick to cut and paste like Lakhota, dude, they spell better...

Like I said, Marsha, it's even worse. There is a big sign in front of the North Church. She could point to it and read aloud if she is tongue-tied. It takes special effort to be that dim. Ole North Church in Boston Massachusetts...

At least she isn't afraid to speak off a Teleprompter. Obama can barely read a toast to the Queen off of note cards and say "corpseman" when it is on the screen. So people screw up so what? I prefer a real person who isn't afraid to speak their mind and yes, going to make some mistakes than a lecturing robot. Snerdley: Oh, perfectly said...I wonder if he comes home and reads off cards, how his day went? Who says he has charisma? Not me. The funniest thing is when he was raising his glass for a toast to the Queen during the British National Anthem.

Sarah Palin is natural and a great motivator with lots of positive energy. Gaffes you say? Oh my, remember when Obama called a police officer stupid before he knew the details of doing his job? Oops, we'll just fix it all up with a beer summit at the WH.

One must remember they teach very little early American history in schools any more so maybe Sarah missed the Ride of Paul Revere. Remember Alaska has not been part of the union very long so maybe they taught the art and history of Elk hunting.

Possibly, but I am pretty sure Warsaw isn't riding around the streets of America in a tour bus blowing traffic lights and stop signs while he screams to the world " look how freaking awesome I am." at the same time he makes an abject ass of himself. Nope, that would be Sara Palin.

Excuse me Sir & Ma'am.... but as one who was born and educated in Boston Massachusetts let me say "screw ups" by politicians happened all the time and Paul Revere is not a big hero to us as are many others.
I personally was a big fan of Mayor James Michael Curley, Merritt "Red Mike" Edson USMC, & John F. Kennedy growing up in that historical and beautiful city in New England which is better known for the Red Sox and Clam Chowder than Paul Revere who was just a copper smith and could ride a horse real well especially at night from Boston to Concord but that was before my time of course.
John F. Kennedy held a dinner in the white House for a group of the brightest minds in the nation at that time. He made this statement: "This is perhaps the assembly of the most intelligence ever to gather at one time in the White House with the exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone."

Team Obama was seething over my favorite newspaper in Boston the Herald front page opinion piece by Mitt Romney ...White House spokesman Lahrich said pool reporters are chosen by whether or not the cover the news "fairly" because they are livid the Herald did not cover the Obama fund raisers in in May..so they are now shut out and shown the door by Team Obama....A Boston Newspaper that has been around forever in Massachusetts...deal with that one..!!
There is something sick and twisted about Obama who thinks he can pick and choose who covers him... Kudos to the Boston Herald and keep it going against Obama in Boston.and other cities in Mass..IMHO
