I'll start at zero, also. I have some left over from 2010, but I'm too dang lazy to go count it. tee hee hee ditto. my Scope bottle is half-full and I've got a baggie that says "$8 in quarters) already counted out next to it. I'll count that out in the morning and edit this post with my starting total. just wanted to make sure I got in on this thread before it disappeared from my "new topics" list!

Mine is usally $1.00 or $2.00 @ day. But once I have enough to wrap up I do and deposit it into a Christmas Club Saving account. Saved about $300.00 last year!

I'm in. Question for you all though. I've got one of those 5 gallon water bottles, and I'm not sure if I should roll it now and start over, or just keep filling it? FILL IT UP!

So I have a question. What do you guys usually do with the money that you save up? I have a coin jar at home, but i'm not very aggressive about trying to fill it up. I think I will do that this year!!! Do you guys spend the money on something special? Or just add it to savings?

I just kept on saving it from the first challenge. You can decide to save or spend. On the other boards, the next year I started the $1.00 Bill Challenge, and the next the $5.00 bill Challenge (aka whatever you can manage to stash). I just kept on saving and ended up with over $3000.00 this last December 31st.
I added $2.59 to my jar today:)

But from September to December 2010, I had $400.00 in my account... Today I put $2.36 into the jar!

just gathered up the change in my car's change tray and my wallet, added it to the Scope bottle. I rolled $38 total, and tossed $6.79 back into the bottle. I'll use the $6.79 as my 2011 start total, and I'll use the $38 tonight when I go out I know I've got a full styrofoam cup of change on my desk at work, I'll bring that home on Monday and toss it in the bottle.

I typically empty out my wallet once per week, and whatever cash or change I have on hand goes into the piggy bank. The piggy bank was starting to get full, so I removed all the cash ($83!!) to make room for more change and deposited the cash into my savings account. I'm guessing that I have at least $50 or $60 in change that I will keep adding to until the bank is full.

Over the last week, I've been adding all my spare change (twonies, loonies and quarters), and today I have a total of $39.75. It sure adds up.

Got a pleasant suprise today. I had received a notice from my insurance company that they had miscalculated what I owed for my homeowners policy this year and that I would get a refund. This year I paid about $30.00 more than last year. I got the check today and it was $40.00. That will be nice to add to my stash. I figured it would be just a few dollars not 40 so it was a nice suprise

Someone asked what we do with the money. After I reach my gift giving goal for the year, I put it into savings. 2010 was a good year for saving because I went over my Christmas budget and bought a Wii and started this year with cash. It sure motivates me to not spend cash.

Hmmm my earlier post disappeared. I got another $40.00 check from the insurance company today. The letter had stated that I might get two checks. I am going to call them tomorrow because this seems just too good to be true. $80.00 unexpected for the month.

I put $4.00 in ones in the jar this morning:) I decided I'm not going to total it up until the end of the year. I want to just add as much as I can.

I'm in. I started with 0 at New Year's anyway. The only problem I have is the kids raid my jar when they need change for something, but the last time I filled it, I did put the money towards a credit card bill. That was great!

Put $2.10 in the jar today. Decided to wrap all of my change up. Had to buy tires last week and had to put it on the CC. So, I figured everytime I have enough to wrap, wrap it up, deposit it and send a paymennt to the CC!

I am at a loss on what to do with my spare change. I was going to save it for my spending money at my daughter's wedding in June in the Virgin Islands but now with needing a new used vehicle I can't decide if I should just roll it up and put it towards that.
