Happy New year everyone! New Year, new challenge. Back to basics to build a foundation of confidence and stability.
THe rules apply the same as before, and it doesn't matter how much you save, and it's not a "Can You Top This" contest, just as long as you save. There's no competition, so just go at your own pace.
I will post updates once a month as before.
I'm starting a new jar with $1.47 today.

Not sure what is in mine at the moment, but I ended the year with just over $158, or $23 more than last year. Pretty happy with that.

I do a lot of walking/hiking for exercise. Thus, a few years back I started picking up the money I would find on the street and/or sidewalk. Just for fun, I kept track in 2010. I found $123.96! Who says pennies don't add up!! So now I'll start at zero again.

I have a whole jar at home that I'll be cashing in later this week. Hopefully there's enough to make the final credit card payment and then I'll be starting over for 2011. First place to check for loose change is the bottom of my purse. I'm always accumulating change there which usually adds up to a pretty decent amount!

I had about $68 in change from last year. I started in the latter half of the year so not bad! Starting over with $0.00 after I take the change an deposit it into savings!

I find change in the bottom of my purse and in my car ~ but never seem to find any in the wash. Maybe I need a better washing machine? (grin)

I'll start off at zero too. I totaled $93.30 in my change counter piggy for 2010. I'll get it emptied and start over for 2011.

I'm in. Question for you all though. I've got one of those 5 gallon water bottles, and I'm not sure if I should roll it now and start over, or just keep filling it?

Hi Pepperdoo, I'm in. I'm using my little bucket to put quarters, loonies and twonies in (I'm Canadian) and so far I have $18.00. Although, I do take some out to do laundry downstairs. I live in an apartment and its coin operated.

I have a large pickle jar to fill, don't know how much is already in it, but my plan is to throw all the change from my purse into it a couple times a month. I think 'coin star' will count the money for free if you get gift cards and I'm thinking I'll turn it all in the end of Nov. 2011 and get a gift card to use for Christmas shopping.

That is a good idea. I didn't think about that. What stores gift cards can you get?

Im in, but don't expect to have a lot of spare change this year. I cashed in the coins/bills I had been saving for new appliances in December. Starting out at $0. And no kids at home to supplement the piggy with "washing machine" change

waffle: All you do is start to save your spare change until Dec. 31st of this year, and post when you can ans at the end of the year we post our totals and post what you plan to do with it, if you are going to keep saving, or if you are going to use it. Just go at your own pace. No competition, just saving. This bunch of folks is really supportive. That's it:)
