IDGAF who Tina is voting for. I think her choice is misguided at best, but meh, not my monkey, not my circus. I'm glad she's better and her partner and child didn't get COVID. Eh, it's a discussion board. Personally, I don't think her individual vote matters one way or the other.

So we are only supposed to reply to people whose opinion we care about? I can reply but that certainly doesn’t mean I care what the person thinks or that I let them take up any head space. I do find it funny that people were tossing my name around to each other. Talk about taking up head space! Perhaps I reply because I find the entire thing comical. To get that angry over the opinion of someone you don’t know really cracks me up. We know a screen name and that’s it. No one on here knows me and I don’t know them. So know, I don’t care but do love to see people get riled up so easily (from nothing more than who I am voting for). It’s a quirk of mine. reply to whoever you want, but don't claim you don't GAF when clearly it bothers you enough to respond. you could just put her on ignore if you really couldn't GAF what she thinks. but hey, what do I know? I think you are confusing “caring” or “bothering” with being amused by all of it. Perhaps you care what random people think of you so you are projecting on me? I’m also retired and stuck home so this is a way to kill some time. When I see my name being tossed around after my long absence, it does amuse me and makes me want to reply. Especially when it is over who I’m voting for!lol

This is why I try to stay away from discussing politics. It gets too volatile. I do want to see people’s opinions and rationale but when it gets confrontational it turns me off.

Sadly, some people can’t be rational unless you agree with them. Something as simple as me saying who I’m voting for has may name being dropped in post after post. Kind of funny but also a sad state of how people think. You either agree with them or you are evil.

Read my post about the banned poster who I disagreed with on all fronts. I respect that guy. I disagreed, but I respected him. Why? Because he owned it. He gave his reasoning for why his views were what they were. Not "I really DGAF" and then coming back several times saying "No really, IDGAF." I am curious as to why you think that DT is a superior candidate to Biden. You just don't want to say the truth. Because you agree with DT. Plain and simple. Your posts over time have shown that time and time again. Just own it.

Not that she really ever hid them before, she just never put them up on display with bright shiny lights around them before. The statement was "I'm petrified of black people so I'm going to move to the whitest area I can find and buy all the guns I can to protect myself from them." I had hoped that would get her and her foolishness banned like said other poster who IMO had committed lesser offenses, but I'm not in charge here.

I have been in law enforcement for 25 years and know things that happen that most never hear about in NYC. There’s too many things to be afraid of and mad about but I can’t and won’t let it make me bitter. It does not matter what color people are (bad comes in all forms but so does good).

Eh, it's a discussion board. Personally, I don't think her individual vote matters one way or the other. Ya it does. Trump is in because a whole lot of individuals voted for him. (Well that and rigging the voting booths.)

(Well that and rigging the voting booths.) That's not an individual any longer. I have no desire to waste my time trying to change one vote, when I can be more influential by addressing the illogical arguments made for these votes. Such as voting for the guy who did nothing but cause the burning and rioting to get worse. If he were a CEO of a company where this was happening, he'd get fired. Businesses demand results, not excuses.

I think we will have a section reserved. Don't worry I have it covered. I had a 2020 moment earlier. I bought up the entire oktoberfest 2020 stuff that could not be used because...Covid and had it delivered to Hades. Including all the cold ones we could ever want and found plenty of volunteers to serve, though we will have to occasionally help our. We can celebrate for all eternity I knew you’d be thinking ahead!

Says it all, using your definition. Anyway, didn't get much past the headline. "Six ways a Biden presidency would impact small business so, you didn't make it past the title. thanks for confirming. the policy statements applied to ALL businesses. but never mind. we are done with this discussion.
No I didn't, and a discussion never started. (bolded) I'll still stand by my original post. When highly successful black businessmen say they are voting for Trump and give their reasons, I believe them using my experience in business. Bob Johnson is the epitome of successful black business men. I'll file this as a 'deflection fail' on your attempt to distract from the point of my post.

reply to whoever you want, but don't claim you don't GAF when clearly it bothers you enough to respond. you could just put her on ignore if you really couldn't GAF what she thinks. but hey, what do I know? I think you are confusing “caring” or “bothering” with being amused by all of it. Perhaps you care what random people think of you so you are projecting on me? I’m also retired and stuck home so this is a way to kill some time. When I see my name being tossed around after my long absence, it does amuse me and makes me want to reply. Especially when it is over who I’m voting for!lol I’m curious now. If Trump gets in a second term, he is almost certainly going to dismantle the ACA further. You are 49, just retired and have 18 months of COBRA. Your case of Covid most likely gives you a pre existing condition. How do you plan on insuring yourself until you hit 65? Your daughter? I guarantee you that your private health insurance will give you far more options than that which is available from Medicare/Medicaid. Right now, the ONLY reason DH as not retired is not that we can’t PAY for health insurance, but we cannot GET adequate health insurance in the county we live. The options here suck. I have researched them every way from Sunday. So that leaves employer sponsored insurance.

Not sure I understand your distinction, but okay I'm pretty sure tge reason MT gave for voting the way she is, is not the main reason, and certainly not the only reason. However, if someone else reading is considering voting that way for that stated reason, I feel it's good for them to consider another perspective.

At the end of the day, if I have to work for insurance I will. I'm not incapable of working. I just decided I didn't want to do it any further. I'm not willing to vote for a direction that I don't agree with just to make sure I get health insurance. And I will say it again, until someone has the balls to take on the cost of healthcare, all we are doing is moving around who pays for it. We need to focus on why we ay so much more than Canada and other countries. I want a plan to actually reduce the cost. ACA has done nothing towards that goal.

As time went on, I realized that ANTIFA was also involved and that definitely made me rethink my original stance. I will not apologize for not wanting to live anywhere near the rioting, looting or burning down of cities or for being afraid of the people that appeared to be doing it. I still want to move to the country. I don't care what color of skin the people are that are destroying our cities, I don't want to live anywhere near them. I'm far enough away that I should be ok but one never knows. Now I'm officially done replying to you. You have post after post just bitching about me in this thread....i don't want you having as much space in my head as I seem to have in yours. Enjoy your day.

ACA has done nothing towards that goal. When ACA came in that was a year that SS didn't get a COL increase. BUT ACA did increase our insurance premiums by $41 per month for each of us. So our net SS was down by $82 per month. AND our Dr co-pay went up 80%. Great news for people on SS income The biggest thing wrong with ACA is not having controls on insurance companies about cost. Obama was community organizer and great at spending other peoples money.

In the meantime, no cities have been “burned to the ground” or “destroyed”. Yet some people do put property crimes on a higher plane than the deaths of folks at the hands of the police, the 400 years of systemic racism, the higher incarceration rates of people of color and other grievances. So in a time honored American tradition the citizenry has taken to the streets as the conservative powers that be have done nothing to address these problems 55 years after the Civil Rights movement. Those are your ‘team’ and your response is to move up to the country and paint your mailbox blue. So be it. Others think change is necessary and will do what they think will bring that on. In the meantime let’s not ignore the reality that rightwing extremist groups have also been involved in property crimes, shooting deaths, and, supposedly, at least 50 incidents of running vehicles into non violent protesters.

And I will say it again, until someone has the balls to take on the cost of healthcare, all we are doing is moving around who pays for it. We need to focus on why we ay so much more than Canada and other countries. I want a plan to actually reduce the cost.
The ONLY way to reduce the cost of healthcare, is to make it non-profit. Too many grubby little hands wanting their slice of the healthcare pie. You have to make it non-profit, or single payer. However, you don't want THAT, either.
"I do not believe I have ever said I do not want to pay for anyone's healthcare. I do not want socialized medicine because, like everything else with our government, it would be a shit show (let's look at VA hospitals for proof of that). . And I have friends in countries with socialized healthcare and they tell me of the wait times for things that we take for granted in the US (and a google search confirms that wait times for specialists in Canada are a lot longer than in the US - I've had cancer twice, I need to be seen ASAP when I get something suspicious). I have very good insurance and I do not want to take a step backwards in terms of care that I receive, even if it is just how quickly I get seen. "

So, you don't want the expensive for-profit healthcare, and don't want the much cheaper non-profit version, either. What you want does not exist.
