I keep seeing Trump say he "gets it" now. That he went to Covid "school" and learned. The fact that he pulled this ego-focused and irresponsible stunt of a drive-by parade means he has learned NOTHING. no, he doesn't. he will never get it.
what he means is he GOT it. he will lose it. he always does.
If he winds up not getting worse, I do believe it will solidify that Covid is “like the flu” with trump and a lot of his supporters. I will be the first to admit that I voted against Hillary and will be voting against Biden. But...I have disagreed with trump from the get go on this. No, I do not think we need to shut the country down. But we do need to wear masks and socially distance. And if a fat, 74 year old doesn’t get super sick, no one will. Ugh

It's getting better and better all the time. Stephen Miller tested positive. This makes me so happy. I’m going to hell. Save me a seat! I was watching the news tonight (couldn't find the video, sorry) In every clip he was chewing gum like a cow chewing it's cud.

I don't want to defend him, but... Trump doesn't need to wear an N95 as he already has the virus. N95s are to protect others AND the wearer. they are MOSTLY to protect OTHERS.
in other words, he has MORE of a reason to wear them now, than ever.
A mask is worn to protect others... a N95 is to protect others and yourself. This is why they wanted people to save the N95s for medical and 1st responders.

President Trump Retweeted Donald J. Trump @realdonaldtrump · 7m I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 P.M. Feeling really good! Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!
Don't be afraid of Covid? So, everyone who gets it will have access to an army of health professionals and the same experimental drugs? Bastard. you feel better than you did 20 years ago? well, you are 74 now, not 54. and you look like shit.
so, if you FEEL better then you must be on some sort of medication that elevates your feelings. there is no other logical explanation. other than possibly craycray.

This makes me think of those detective shows with the boards with pictures of victims all connected with red string. I wonder if we’ll ever find out how many people Trump infected at his private golf club fund raising party that he attended after he knew he was infected? Bet the club members are a little irate about that. They pay the big bucks to belong to a swanky club so they can avoid contact with the common, potentially virus riddled riff raft. word has it they are pissed. and they should be. what is your health worth?
your life?
Considering this was a fund raising event, I wonder how many stop payments were made on checks written there? That would be my response if I found out that an event I had paid tickets to get into also included a side dose of Covid.

At least some of us still have brains. “Shamdemic”.... wow!!! I used to read history and could not believe a group of people would be so stupid to be fool by one man idea to the point of killing their friends / neighbors or turn a blind eye to it. God has open my eyes and I am living it! I thought his presidency could not sink lower.
I was wrong.
I always have been.
I should just stop thinking that.

this is only one of many presidential failures. I can't imagine why you will vote against Biden, MT, but I don't honestly care at this point. I think this nation is heading into a very dark period, and I really can't say what will get us out of it, but I wish you and other Republicans the best at sorting that out.

You always seemed pretty sharp to me, so I'm betting you've got basic hygiene down. What's your message to get people just like you to mask up and socially distance? ETA: I'm a rule follower, so I agree with you that *I* personally don't need a shut down. My family doesn't need a shut down. We are reasonable people taking reasonable precautions. But I tell you, the folks that I interact with that are like you, in terms of socio-economic status and priviledge just don't give a shit...so maybe hitting them where it hurts is the only thing they pay attention to...

And believe it or not, I have had some impact on family members. I have never been anti-mask. I have been petrified of this virus from the beginning. I was mad because my governor wasn’t doing enough of the right things (he shut down all businesses but allowed busses to keep coming in from nYC!). I had one cousin in particular, who was an annoying anti-masker. He and I got into it a few times on FB before I got sick. Once he found out how sick I was, he was calling his sister daily to check up on me. At that moment, it became real to him. I have no seen an anti-mask post from him since. And I’m only 3 years older than him and had no other pre-existing conditions My fiancé is a very private person and asked me not to announce it on FB. He was also quarantined for 3 weeks (or was it four?? I lost track of time!) and doesn’t want people knowing his business. But we are far enough out and I’ve been debating telling my story on FB. The fact that I’m not a Biden supporter gives me credibility in what I’m saying (to those who think this is political).

I'd say 20% of people here are currently wearing masks... It's frustrating as hell. We had a 72 year old woman refused service in a local business until she removed her mask. Apparently, someone kept asking her if she had COVID and if not then why would she need a mask... It's insane out there. where is "here", so I can avoid being "there"?

Real stories like your’s scare the crap out of me....and I am already very cautious. DH adores scuba diving, and any loss of his lungs is going to mean he will never get to try out that $2700 dive computer he just got. No one knows how they are going to respond to this virus. It may be nothing, you may get sick, you might be left with deficits....or you might be dead. How lucky do you feel? I already got sidelined by something that had a 1% risk of happening, so I know I’m on Murphy’s shit list.

My son-in-law, who is an MD in a hard-hit emergency room in another hotspot, resents this not only just medically but socially as well. When you treat an elderly nursing home resident with an emergent stroke whose family has not been able to visit him for 7 months, but Trump gets A+ grade treatment such that he can take a victory lap in a hermetically sealed limo to wave to the fans who want to see him, there is a lot of room for resentment. may it be his "Dukakis moment".
thoughts and prayers.

I think that you should check your temperature and see if you are running a fever.
I've been enduring pre-shift medical check-ins since March and wearing a mask to work since April. Mask compliance is utterly political in my workplace and if you want to kiss up to a boss, drop the mask.
It's sick beyond all belief, but it's what I am seeing. It is chilling to see your boss's mask disappear whenever their boss shows up.
I sincerely hope that most of you think that I am crazy or exaggerating. I hope that you are not encountering the same craziness. I really, really hope that what I am running into is anomalous.
My more rational side tells me that that I am not alone. I think a whole lot of other folks are seeing coworkers signal things via their masking compliance or lack thereof.
Thanks, but I am in a "trailer-like building with 5 other like-minded, mask-wearing people. We know that if one of us gets it, all of us will need to be under quarantine. Since we like each other, we are doing the best we can to protect everyone else. That is a shame that the boss is anti-mask; it makes your life much more difficult. I would choose "precarious" over "difficult".

I just turned on CNN after a nap. CNN played a clip of a trump campaign spokeswoman stating during a Fox interview Biden would not be able to handle/fix the Covid-19 epidemic in the U.S. because Biden has not contracted the virus unlike trump. trump can fix the pandemic in the U.S. because he has now suffered from the virus. I was not dreaming when I saw the clip. It's confirmed. I was not dreaming I saw this as The Walk of the Penguin Mich posted it a few minutes before I did. only the stupidest fucking dolt would believe that.
and if that is what we are, we have earned "herd mentality".
You do realize that you just described half of Trump supporters....

The problem is that me wearing a mask protects you. I need you to wear a mask to protect me. The assholes that won't wear them are endangering others. And they are being protected by those of us that do wear them. Trump isn't all brave taking off his mask. He already has it! He's just being a prick and infecting others.

Don't worry I have it covered. I had a 2020 moment earlier. I bought up the entire oktoberfest 2020 stuff that could not be used because...Covid and had it delivered to Hades. Including all the cold ones we could ever want and found plenty of volunteers to serve, though we will have to occasionally help our. We can celebrate for all eternity

Voting for him makes you part of the problem. I for one always thought you were, this would just confirm it without question.

Tina, I am glad you are back. You are at least providing a rationale argument to keep the rest of us honest. Apparently, people who wind up name-calling / attacking others as they cannot discuss things rationally run on both sides of the fence.

Rationality isn’t subjective. That 6 everyone argues could be viewed as a 9 from a different perspective? Is a 6 when it comes between 5 and 7...

Rationality isn’t subjective. That 6 everyone argues could be viewed as a 9 from a different perspective? Is a 6 when it comes between 5 and 7... Ok. I will define my perspective. Someone who provides a stance for others to view whether they believe it or not presents a rational argument. Someone who calls someone part of the problem is not presenting a rational argument.
