Going to dinner with DH for an early Valentine dinner. I have a $10 off coupon and a $50 gift card for a local restaurant. Should be nothing out of pocket

I did meal planning for the next 16 days. A lot of things I already have the majority of the ingredients to make. Will really only have to go to the store again probably once between now and another trip at the beginning of March, and that will be for fresh fruits/veggies. And I have $5.80 worth of coupons to use tomorrow!

I'm having eggs and asparagus for dinner. I bought 1/2 pound of asparagus during my splurge and have had 2 meals out of it so far. I think there's another serving left after the eggs tonight. If I buy Italian bread again in the near future, someone will have to send me to time out. It's so good, I forgot how good, I've eaten 2 slices every day. Ok 3. Dang it. But, yummy

DH and I went out for Mexican food at a local taco shop as an early Valentine's Day splurge. We had a gift card for $15 and our bill totaled $14.51! Then we really splurged and went to the local shop and bought a piece of pie each and took it home to enjoy. Total outlay $4.31. Not bad for a holiday celebration. It really lifted my spirits to not have to cook today.

Yesterday, I went grocery shopping and my coupon savings came to $16.13! I'm pretty new to active couponing so that is just great for me.
I also used the coin star machine and instead of letting the machine take nearly 10% like I did in the past, I got an amazon.com certificate. Save the 10% and saves the interest I would have paid by putting my amazon purchase on a credit card, like I always have in the past!

I've planned a clothing swap with some friends for this weekend. It's just an excuse to get together but I should end up with a couple of things out of the deal.

I made DH his favorite oatmeal/white chocolate/butterscotch brownies for Valentine's Day. I had everything I needed already in the pantry, fridge or freezer, all purchased on sale, and did not need to buy anything special or additional. When I returned from a weekend trip, I could just get right to work on them. He has homemade dessert for at least a week, and it cost me nothing extra.

my fiance is out of town so for valentines day we had a skype date at home and watched some shows together and played some question games... I got his v-day card with a gift card so it didn't cost me a dime to celebrate and he'll get it in a few days when he comes home.

today I went to Dollar General on my lunch break and picked up a box of 60 dryer sheets and a bottle of antacid. After coupons, they owed ME $0.57! So I basically got paid along with my free items to shop for 2 minutes and stand in line for another minute or so. Totally worth it

I finally got three baseball paintings professionally packaged, insured and mailed off to a sports art auction house. I've only been saying I wanted to do this since, oh, September 2006. It cost more than $500 to do all this. But with luck, I will get a call after the June auction saying that the three pieces did well. Works by this artist generally do. And if they didn't? I take a loss on next year's taxes.

Excellent thread. Not too exciting, but went for a run. It's free and helps me to get rid of the extra 4 lbs I'm carrying.

I actually have been doing this for several days but forgot to mention it: I found a gallon of whole milk marked down to 99 cents because it was close-dated. I have been using it, mixed with equal parts of water, instead of 2% milk. Thus far I have made rice pudding, macaroni and cheese, and Cream of Wheat. Some of it went into jars in the freezer, to be diluted and used later on.

I was in staples today to buy tax software, kudos to the stranger who handed me her 10 off coupon that she was not using. The software I wanted was not on sale, but a competing brand was. I used to coupon to buy the one I really wanted and had used before.

On Monday I chose 12 recipes from even more that a friend and I had narrowed down to. On Tuesday I printed a shopping list using "30 Meals in One Day" software. On Wednesday I compared current sales at several different stores through their websites. Then I went to Aldi and purchased as much as I could there, as long as the price was lower than I found elsewhere. Then I went to Fareway to get the rest because they match other stores' sales. DH also plans to make a breakfast casserole, so the total cost for 13 recipes of 8-12 servings apiece to feed 6 people total = less than $150. Tonight (Friday) we all get together to make plans, cook some chicken and dice some onions. Tomorrow, we will have an all-day cook-a-thon! In the end, we will all have freezers full of great meals that will cost less than $2 per serving!

I know the cost could have been even less if I had exercised some extreme couponing and started buying stuff gradually, but we didn't put that much thought into it ahead of time. Maybe next time around...

DH wanted to take me to lunch before he started his shift. We decided we could share $5 sub and actually have an economical lunch out. Not an economical meal but way better than what he usually wants. Yay!

This is actually being done for me. I wrecked my bumper on Monday, and thank goodness only my bumper. By all estimates it was going to cost $1000 - $1200 to fix. My friend is doing the work and got me a bumper at the wrecking yard. Cost - $200. I have wonderful friends.

DH got our taxes done and sent in-yea!! Then we celebrated our 43rd anniversary yesterday by going to the art museum in our city, had a small lunch there but it wasn't cheap, then ate out at a nice seafood restaurant for dinner-not too frugal but well worth it. We did have a free pass to the museum with 10% off lunch. Took the train downtown and found out DH qualifies for reduced fare due to his disability.

Went out with an old school buddy (we've known each other since we were 3, or even earlier--my mom used to babysit at almost all the churches in town and I had a boy to play with at each one We split a thing of nachos and I just had one drink. He was willing to pay for all of it, but I threw in $10, not bad for 3 1/2 hours of entertainment. I had to pick up and move some of my flooring and was tempted to get a "fancy" coffee on the way and get DS a hot cocoa, but I dropped that idea and made some at home instead, saving $7 or so (I talk myself out of this all the time, haven't bought "a coffee" for a long time, miss my free coupons for McD's though). Did my taxes and the refund (smaller this year since I changed my withholdings, but still sizable--need to do more tweaking) should be here this week, it will be used to pay my builder

Oh, I forgot the main thing I was going to post after reading hereigoagain's post. I also sold some stuff and made room in my house Three brand-new-still in packaging king sheet sets. Bought them when the now-ex-bf and I were going to be getting married/buying a place together. He had a king bed, I had a queen, we were going to give the queen to DS and I'd bought some stuff for the king. Sucks that in the end I lost money, but I did get some back and someone else got a killer deal on some great sheets. Also sold a set of "learn-a-language" CDs My internet provider has free online classifieds, similar to craigslist but more local and a little better (IMO). Our small towns are spread out over 45 miles or so (my town seems to be the "center") but people are usually willing to work with you to pick things up, and since I commute I can often meet up with them on my way home from work.
