I would say 99.9% don't know how to get a live chicken transitioned to the freezer.

I do... DH's grandma is a chopping wizard (and has about 80 hens running around)... but I don't know that I'd have the wherewithal to do it myself. I'm more the type to run around and try to pet the chickens

up early, enjoying this beautiful peace and quiet. I've got a volleyball game in a couple hours - the playoff finals. my team is missing our best player (she's out of state this weekend) so I hope we do okay.

Chiver, what kind of volleyball team do you play on? Years ago, I used to play on a USVBA level B or BB team and I miss it. I've done laundry this morning now I need to put it away and figure out what massive cooking I can pull off today so I have less to do on lunches and dinners this coming week. Also need to crunch numbers and finish my time card online. It is period end so another must do for the weekend.

vball is outdoor, sand court, but nowhere near a beach. there's this little dive bar just off the MA Pike, just west of Worcester, that has 3 sand courts out back. not at all expected, but it's a good time! I play women's C level, but the league has A, B, C for men/women/coed. I never played before joining this team - my fall sport was field hockey back in HS - but my sis said her team needed another player. I've been playing 3 years, I think? anyway, it's 6 a side, but today we had the minimum of 4. I knew our best player was on vacation this weekend (we usually play Monday nights) but one of the other players blew us off. get this - her new BF was staying over last night. seriously? you're gonna blow us off to get laid? the rest of us dragged ourselves out to the bar at 9:30 on a Saturday morning....hope it was worth it, you've now been voted off the island. so we lost, 3-0 in a best-of-5. we lost 3 sets all season, and we lost 3 in a row today. boo... next session starts Monday, hope we can find another player between now and then. that one ain't welcome back. ETA: after inhaling a quick lunch, I'm about to go play in the flowerbeds. enjoy your Saturday, everyone!

I'm headed out to a bachelorette party.
I went swimming with the kids in the river earlier, and I'd much rather stay home and hang out by the water today.

I don't have any major plans today.... hubby & kiddo have baseball tickets for our minor league team and are going out to eat at Outback. Kiddo misses out on a lot of the good eating out & with school starting in a couple of weeks, this is probably one of their last summer outtings. I'm not a baseball fan, so I'm hanging out at home and letting the guys go be guys.
I do plan on making more tomato sauce today with tomatoes from the garden. But gonna make spaghetti sauce instead of plain sauce. Gonna make another round of hot sauce....prep some more okra for freezing....maybe do a load of laundry & I should vaccum, but not sure I wanna.
right now waiting for the pre-race to start and then gonna watch the NW race.

I know how you feel. Years ago I was one of the captains in a in house company league and I got forced to take this one guy as the second pick. He blew off the game to go to a furniture sale that was a month long and still had a few days to go. I felt the same. My USVBA team we mostly played a 6-2 formation but I ended up being the flexible generalist that played almost every position except setter in a pinch. I miss being part of a company or even general pickup team. I have been thinking of the last league I played in now that I pass the roads to the gyms we played at on my daily commute.

kgb, LMAO!! <<jealous!!>> We were supposed to go look at a 5th wheel for sale and hang out by the lake at our property, but DH has a stomach ache and I think it's too damned hot to do anything. So on to Plan B. Margaritas and Yahtzee in a/c!

Coffee time on the porch until the wind came up. Passed on playing tennis for reading the newspaper. Shop the deep discounts on grocery items at 2 stores. I saved 83% and 43%. Drive to my fitness center for the weekly machines workout. The scenery was excellent. I am glad I drove as the heat and humidity were h*ll when I came out. I am side tracked here.
My DH is out testing different insect repellants as the gnats are swarming. The wind doesn't even stop them. They are prolific as there is so much standing water from the flood.

Humidity is awful here. I was doing yardwork in the backyard until I couldn't stand it anymore. I'm indoors soaking in the A/C now, & DD is starting dinner. (We're eating late tonight, which during the school year is nothing unusual.) Going to clean the inside of the house when I recover.

the campus is actually closed this weekend at work! the power went out eariler this week. Then came back on after a few hours. Then the network went down for a few hours. So for repairs they cut power Friday at 7PM and goes back on this Sunday! I had planned to go to work and do 4 hours OT to work on a project for a Manager in another department! But since I have to work at home ...OH well I'll charge 7 hours now! LOL ;D
Then fit in laundry, update my budget spreadsheet, sweep & mop kitchen floor, clean up the living room and go see a movie. But normally my chick changes her mind on movies cause on weekends she just stays in bed all FN day!

I am chilling today on this board. Equalibrium issues but I don't know if it's wrap around from yesterday's heat or what.
I am admiring a GD from afar as she works where kids are having fun, yelling, screaming all day. I couldn't do that. Then she serves the drinking crowd several nights a week.

Cleaning up my basement after Wednesday's 13 inches of rain--along with most of my town. Need to get what is destroyed to the curb by Monday as city has arranged for it to be hauled away. Thank you, city.

I went to run a 5k this morning. First time I've run this particular race. Not many volunteers, so I missed one of the turns. I ended up running about 40 minutes then walking about 20 back to my car. Glad I kinda new the area I burned over 1000 calories according to my HRM on the way home, I stopped at the Post Office to mail a certified pkg for work. Then I went to Sports Authority for some new lifting gloves. I just bought a pair a few months ago, but I cannot find them anywhere. now I'm eating a red bell pepper with some Moe's chunky guacamole that was marked down to $1.99 at the warehouse club (sell by date is tomorrow).

Theo, I hope you didn't lose too many of your belongings in the flood! The humidity is kicking into high here. I don't think I'll play in the garden until it's later in the day. But it's o.k., since there's lots of work to do IN the house!

I got up early and worked in the yard. DD came out to help, and we got the daylilies cut down since they're done blooming until next year and the leaves were turning yellow. Then I weeded for a while and transplanted some coleus to a shadier spot. I've tidied up The Hovel and shredded about a month's worth of crap...then spilled about half the shredded crap while dumping it into the kitchen trash Right now DD is out making the lawn shorter. We live on the corner of a cul de sac with an enormous yard so I expect to see her again around Zeptuber 32, 2014. If she finishes any time today, we're off to Home Depot. It's only 2 pm, and I'm tired already. How do I manage to work all day every day and sometimes clean two houses in the same day? Of our two temps here in summer--hot and hotter--today is hotter ;D ETA: The other thing I'm doing today is minding my own business...gawd! It is so boring! I wish somebody would post something outrageous so that I could get all superior and pedantic...

Hubby & I spent the past couple of hours curled up on the couch together watching Urban Cowboy. Let's just say, me being from Houston & him from a small Texas town, we relate a little too well with the movie, but we love it and can do one helluva "Bud & Sissy" impression. ;D
Now I'm going to start some laundry....and start making another round of fresh hot sauce for canning.

Got one load of laundry done, then washed my hair. After it taking over 1/2 hr to dry & style, I'm thinking it's time for me to get some of it hacked off.
