And how are they going to get our 1000 troops out of there safely? They are surrounded with roads cut off and supply lies. I guess trumpers have told the Russians we want them all out and their equipment safely. Well gee, that's special. The moron is finally doing real harm to the US. If any military backs him I wouldn't know who. LOL, last night on one of the major networks their reporter was reporting how they had to avoid Turkey shelling them, ISIS prisoners on the loose and might attack them and worried about being attacked by upset Kurds as they were escaping overthe border out of Syria. They seemed to manage doing all three things. I think our troops might be better able to do the same....The reporter sounded like they were stealth fighters escaping an advancing army. Might want to talk to your son and he might give you some insight on it.

Well, let's see....moving a few people (journalists) is a LOT different than moving 1000 men/women & their equipment without running into one of the enemies now in the area...which seems to be ALL other forces in the area since we deserted the Kurds!...Turkey, Kurds, Syria & Russia....who is now patrolling between lines.

It is now being reported that 1000 US soldiers may be trapped near the Syrian border, with the Turks cutting off some exits, and Assad forces blocking others. I guess we are going to try to air lift them out.
Trump sold our own soldiers safety for his personal gain in Turkey. I can't believe any member of our military still supports him!
ETA: Sorry, it seems some others have already posted about this.

I remember my Dad working huge amounts of ot after the first Iraqi war. so the increase in manufacturing is MAGA, even though the need is wasteful and because of a boneheaded move? the whole manufacturing thing is just sad. let me explain why:
1) first of all, it is really the last little glimmer of light that Trump has. 2) second, the growth in manufacturing jobs has been about the same YOY since the great recession ended. in other words, Trump has done no better than Obama did in his second term. 3) third, US manufacturing is still way in the dumps. jobs in manufacturing are approximately where they were at the end of the 1949 recession. yes. you read that right. 1949. 4) finally, we have lost 7M manufacturing jobs since the neocons took over until TODAY. so, yeah, it is just wonderful and fabulous that we got 1M back in the last decade. at this rate, we will get back to where we were under Carter in......

Waaaaaaay off topic but I saw last week where Carter fell, had quite a wound on his face and still showed up to help with a Habitat for Humanity project. At this point I won’t be shocked if he is still building those houses in 2079.

Meanwhile in the asylum f/k/a the WH they are taking action: WASHINGTON—President Trump authorized sanctions and raised steel tariffs on Turkey, while threatening more-powerful financial penalties if Ankara continued a military offensive in northern Syria launched after Mr. Trump decided to withdraw U.S. troops from the region.
Mr. Trump also spoke separately with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey and Kurdish Commander Mazloum Abdi and urged them to negotiate an end to the violence, administration officials said. Mr. Trump, calling for an immediate cease-fire, tapped Vice President Mike Pence and White House national security adviser Robert O’Brien to lead a delegation to Turkey to seek a resolution to the conflict.
www.wsj.com/articles/president-trump-to-weigh-retaliatory-options-against-turkey-11571072243
However, there are some complicating factors (roughly 50 from what I have read):
The Air Force on Monday said it has made no changes to daily operations at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey even as Turkish forces continue to push into Syrian territory, which has prompted U.S. forces to pull back.
But concerns are growing over the reported presence of U.S. nuclear weapons at Incirlik, believed to be about 50 B61 gravity bombs. The New York Times on Monday reported that officials from the State and Energy departments over the weekend reviewed plans for evacuating the nuclear weapons there.
www.airforcetimes.com/news/your-air-force/2019/10/14/with-turkeys-invasion-of-syria-concerns-mount-over-nukes-at-incirlik/
Looks like our "stable genius" and inbitatant of the asylum, missed a few details and we may have inadvertently created another dictator-led nuclear power unless he can find a way to remove those weapons after ticking the turks off with sanctions. But what is one itsy, bitsy, teeny, weeny little oversight right?

Meanwhile, Russian-backed Syrian forces have taken over an abandoned U.S. military base. “Other video from inside the abandoned U.S. base in Manbij, Syria, taped by Russian reporter traveling with Russian-backed forces shows how quickly U.S. troops abandoned the base,” Griffin continued. “In fact, Russian mercenaries appear to be using the videos as propaganda to show the American retreat. The significance of that American base now effectively under Russian control.” Fox News reporter Jennifer Griffin said

We have a few among us as regular contributors...possible we may hear from them...they are usually prompt in telling the rest of us how bad and unfair we are to the Donald and his supporters... Possible they might chime in on how they see the Syrian thing...there is always "Normandy" and WW2...

My son is very unhappy right now. I cannot say more. I imagine it's something like this: US troops express anger at Trump's Syria policy: 'We betrayed' the KurdsWashington (CNN)A wide range of American military personnel and defense officials are expressing a deep sense of frustration and anger at the Trump administration's refusal to support Syrian Kurds facing a Turkish military assault, over half a dozen US military and defense officials have told CNN. Several US military and defense officials, including personnel deployed to Syria, expressed dismay at how the Trump administration has handled the situation. One US official said it is well known that some senior US military officials are livid at how the Kurds have been treated given their role in helping the US fight ISIS. Another senior American defense official told CNN that Trump's failure to more forcefully oppose the invasion or do anything to stop the attacks on the Kurds meant Trump had given Turkey a green light, despite the administration's public stance that it had consistently opposed the operation. Meanwhile... Erdogan says Turkey will never declare ceasefire in northern Syria -NTV
ANKARA, Oct 15 (Reuters) - President Tayyip Erdogan told U.S. President Donald Trump that Turkey will never declare a ceasefire in northeastern Syria, and added that he was not worried about U.S. sanctions over Ankara's offensive, broadcaster NTV reported on Tuesday. Speaking to reporters on a flight back from Baku, Erdogan said talks with Washington and Moscow on Syria's Kobani and Manbij towns continued, and added it was "not negative" for the Syrian army to enter Manbij as long as militants in the area were cleared, NTV said. He also said he told Trump that Turkey would "not negotiate with a terrorist organisation" in response to Trump's mediation offer. You don't think this is a never ending war? You missed it again for the second day in a row. Trump HAS NOT gotten us out of the never ending war your team got us into. Yet you have said he did twice now. It’s hard to take you Trumpies seriously when you are so deluded.

They aren't sure how they can get the nukes out.
Son can only tell us so much, he was very disturbed by what happened. Stop and think he had people working in a lot of places over there, friends, they may be civilians now but they still are in harms way.
I am so angry over trump and his asinine incompetence or perhaps being a traitor, you do know it was putins birthday when he gave him this gift? I know technically one can only be a traitor in wartime.

Depends on how many more allies he throws to the wolves. Watch out for S Korea, I figure they will be next as he pulls out US troops. I wouldn't trust him any further then I could spit.
