Next they'll ban potato chips. I'll take armed resistance to that one.

They have forced Wal-Mart to start selling "healthier" Wal Mart brand food and ready to eat products because they figure parents are too lazy to feed their kids healthy food. So now we have to "sneak" healthy food into the junk food?
Quick question- does McDonald's take that "ebt" card thingy? I know that our Red Lobster and several other restaurants do. Is it a government move to try to stop having to pay for kids to eat junk food?

We have a group trying to ban plastic bags here. The same thing was attempted in Seattle and was voted down, be interesting to see how far this one goes.

I don't know Sheila.....but that reminds me of the last time I went to McDonalds. My son was sick and really wanted a happy meal so I went to the drive through. I had 10 bucks on me and got him a happy meal and some stuff for me. The total showed 10.26 on the screen and I was like shit....look around and found a quarter and a penny in the console. I was like DAMN I'm GOLDEN. As I pull away from the screen she added in the tax. DAMNIT!

I'm fine with that the government doing that, it is just where the line should be that I don't know.

The ONLY time government should be invovled in people's personal lives is when the child is in danger. A child is not in danger from eating 1 or 10 happy meals a week.

Look at the bright side.
Without happy meals, you can just get your kids a quadruple quarter pounder, large fries, and large partially gelatinated non-dairy gum-based beverage (a.k.a. shake). This will be better for them due to all of the essential FATS.

Oh Bob. I did indeed get a double quarter pounder with cheese. I looked at the calories.....740. With 44g of protein. It's funny I got my kid reading nutrition labels and we compared his nuggets and fries to my meal.
Arch if you want to see real shit look at what they feed your kids in school. I swear they serve year old breaded fish patties and stale veggies. I went to school to eat with him (in their beneficence the school allows you two lunch visits a year) and the lunch lady slopped some food on a tray and handed it to me. I looked at her like WTF are you doing? I said "Oh I'm not eating here" it was GROSS.

But then again, the government makes you send your kid to school, or regulates how you home school your kid... I think I am ok with that.

I don't think you should be forced to send your child to school. It should be your right to if you choose it should not be forced.

So, Arch you think the government has the right to force your kids into a school house like prisioners and brain wash them?

So, Arch you think the government has the right to force your kids into a school house like prisioners and brain wash them? No. They can be homeschooled and brainwashed by their redneck parent, or sent to Catholic school to be brainwashed. In all seriousness. I think it is a good thing that the government makes parents educate their kids.

People with no self control are the first to want to limit everyone's access to whatever they cannot control themselves. They think everyone has the same issues they do.

Then how come I have no control when it comes to women yet I don't want to restrict anyone access to them? Politicians aren't there to enforce thier own ideas Arch, they are there to serve. Sadly, that isn't the case.

parents today are growing weak kids and not taking interest in what they eat. kids go outside and would probably break something from a fall just from running around! in addition kids not going outside to play and burn off fast food they get fat. well that's how I see it..

in addition kids not going outside to play and burn off fast food they get fat. Maybe so, but at least those fat kids will have the valuable life skill of being able to pull a hooker out of a car and beat them, as taught in Grand Theft Auto.

Home Schooling should be criminal in my opinion. Oh sure there are a few very small exceptions in which some modern day home schooled kid turned out to be a stellar athlete or academic genius. But I think that the vast majority end up in the same situation that their parents are in. I curious (but too lazy to do the research) what percentage of home schooled kids actually go on to higher education. I'd like to see the breakdown in annual incomes of those kids schooled in the public/private arena and those home schooled. DH is from the south and he has some very religious fb friends from hs that have "friended" him. They home school and the crap that they are teaching their kids is insane!
