I meant that 12 years is a long time to hate one's fridge, not that it's a long time for a fridge to last.

Since Rukh O'Rorke bumped her NY Resolutions thread, I decided to bump this thread. Any progress? We had an amazing (but very expensive) summer vacation, so no new oven on the horizon. That is the last item on our 2019 list. How about you people?

Since Rukh O'Rorke bumped her NY Resolutions thread, I decided to bump this thread. Any progress? We had an amazing (but very expensive) summer vacation, so no new oven on the horizon. That is the last item on our 2019 list. How about you people? lol, I'm actually afraid to look at what I wished for! ok - think it was just a vacation and an instrument. The instrument idea is still floating, but so much work to do! Took just a staycation this summer. The unexpected IRS debacle ruled out anything more spendy. Maybe later this year or 2020....current projection is I'll be working 20-21 weekends in the next 12 months. Maybe half only one day, half both days. About a third dayjob and will get comp time. So - Unfortunately - I'm struggling just to find a relaxing weekend! but this weekend should be good, with no outside work to do. But - behind on loads of chores! Trying to focus what other time/energy I have into health-related stuff - back into yoga, loads of fruit smoothies and salads, so trying to top off the energy tank a bit. Just checked, almost 12 vacation days in my bank, so that is good. Last year, company gave 3 days for xmas, 3 days for new years, hoping for same and I can add a few days and get a good break and still have a lot going into 2020. Instrument-wise, my extra work might pay for one (not going for the 15k one!). Seems something I need to do at some point, a little nugget in my soul that needs attention. I do feel like I'm slipping into workaholicism, and Ron Weasley's voice is in my head very frequently saying I "need to rethink my priorities!" the other being on the corresponding shoulder says "make hay while the sun shines". So - I guess the short answer is - maybe next year?

Redo our master bath - paint, floor, vanity Pay off DH's student loan (almost $11k) Pay $7k off our HELOC Determine if building a house is in our budget or not. If yes, build within two years. If not, sell land (which eliminates the HELOC). Take a family vacation 1. Done. 2. Paid off. 3. About $2500 paid off 4. We are planning to build in spring 2020. Need to start stashing cash, so #3 might not be done this year. 5. Done.

Spend a week in San Diego Save for a new car Finally get a dental implant for a tooth I've been missing for going on 20 years! Potty train DS so he can start preschool in the fall Buy a new kitchen table and sofas Convert the guestroom to a bedroom for DD We ended up going to Oklahoma instead of San Diego. We were still going to try to do San Diego this fall, but it'll probably be bumped to spring. Still saving for the car. The rear hatch quit opening on my car, but DH is just using it for commuting now so we can hold off on another car until next year. I'll be getting a temporary crown next month and the permanent crown next year (haha next year is starting to become a trend here). DS is potty trained and doing well in preschool! We just got a new table and new to us sofa this month. DD's room is currently a playroom. It might stay that way for awhile.

I have a list of projects - in fact, I was just working on writing the house project list this weekend. House projects: - Get someone to fix the garage/drive way transition. For some reason, when the previous owners got the driveway repaved at some point they actually transitioned the asphalt under the garage door and up to the people door transition so the garage floor is about 2.5" to 3" below the level of the driveway. - possibly get a new well pump - redo the sunroom, including putting in either sliding glass doors or french doors to the patio. -Take down the two tall arborvitae at the corners of the house as they are both getting ready to interfere with the wires running to the house. Replace the one with a bush that won't get as tall. The other will be replaced with the below alcove: - dig out a section of the small hill next to the driveway and put in a retaining wall "alcove" to have a better place to store the garbage cans. The hill is about 2' tall at the highest part, so that shouldn't be too difficult. Hopefully, when I pull out the arborvitae's roots on that side a lot of the digging out will be done for me. Personal: -Work out more. Every year I feel like my strength and flexibility is declining and I'd like to halt/reverse that feeling - Finally finish spreading my mom's ashes. I spread her ashes in 2 of the 3 places we talked about; the last one is a state park near where I live where we used to camp a lot when I was little. With the heavy/frequent rains last year, I just couldn't get out there. Mentally I'm more ready as well. - Read more for pleasure. I've really gotten out the habit, and I miss it. Part of my list got done: -my driveway was redone and looks great - although it is very strange pulling in and out of my garage now that I don't have a 3" lip to get over. -I took down the tree on that side of the house, and finished my "alcove." It looks great, but was way more digging than I had hoped. But it is all done now, and I'm happy with it. I'm actually glad it took more digging than I thought. My DH did something that really made me angry, and I worked out a lot of my anger digging up that crappy soil! - I spread my mom's ashes. It was a beautiful spot. - still working on the reading and working out. Although my house projects I've been working on really replaced the working out for a while. The digging and moving/laying the stones for the wall were definitely a workout.

Family vacation to Disney World in June. I have a meeting in Orlando then, so going to piggyback a family vacation to Disney. Of course, I should probably start booking hotels and buying park passes at some point. Clear more clutter out of my house. It’s a very sloooooooowww process for me, but I keep working at it. Family vacation somewhere else- likely late July or early August. We’re thinking Colorado to visit one of my BFFs and her family, and DH’s uncle and aunt. We can drive there, so as long as we don’t end up with an unexpected work trip elsewhere that we want to piggyback a family vacation into, this will probably be where we end up. I want to do a girls weekend with three of my high school girlfriends. We did one last year at a lake house with our families, so I’d be game for that again, or a girls only trip. One of the ladies just remarried last fall, and has been pretty distant, so we’ll see if it happens. Or maybe 3 of us will do something instead of 4 of us. On the plane getting ready to take off for Orlando now. We are staying at the conference hotel and then switching to a Disney resort, so item 1 is in progress! Over 500 items (mostly baby stuff, plus some toys) out of my house, so making slow progress on #2. My cousin’s daughter is getting married near San Antonio in August, so we’re liking doing that for a second family vacation. We might still drive to Colorado as well, but not 100% certain. As for the girls weekend, likely not happening as one of the ladies is pregnant, but 3 of the 4 of us are attending our 20-year high school reunion this summer; so I’m excited to hang out with most of the group. Disney World done. Slowly clearing out some clutter, and having moderate success in not bringing in more stuff unless it’s clothes in the next size as kiddos outgrow current clothes. Took back-to-back trips to Austin/San Antonio and then Colorado. Just had a girls’ weekend last weekend with the 3 girlfriends and felt my batteries recharge with some time for me, and not DH and the kids.

My wish list includes a soaker tub in my bathroom. I need to refresh the whole bathroom but the cost scares me all in one chunk. So I'm going to get the tub and tile around the tub done first. Then I'll watch for a sale on vanities, medicine cabinets and lighting.
I'm already going to Jamaica for a week, but I want to get one or two more trips in. One for sure in October and maybe one in March. This isn't counting my trip to see my parents in the summer.
So i ended up with a completely renovated bathroom that makes me happy every time i go into it. I went to Jamaica and Nevada and saw the grand canyon for the first time. I ended up getting a generator and a 65" tv. The tv was on a fantastic sale. So i went above and beyond mt wish list.

I have no idea. It's a toss up between a "just us" trip (we already have two family trips planned - Florida and OBX) or finally doing some decorating stuff around the house. I really want to go to Aruba but time this year is going to be hard to find. Huh. We did neither a "just us" trip nor decorated stuff. Well, I took hubs on my business trip to Tulsa, I guess that counts. We did replace the remainder of the cast iron plumbing, so we did avoid decorating our walls and ceiling with poop. Aruba is booked for May 2020, though!

We ended up replacing the oven in November before my 60th birthday since we were having a party. So 2019 wish list completed.

We thought after our big trip last year that we'd start trying to have kids but we haven't taken that plunge yet so we'd like to get some more traveling in this year. I'm headed to Europe for work in the next few months so we will piggy back off of that trip then take another trip to Europe after summer ends so we avoid some of the crowds. At home I'd like to redo our garage as it's the one area we've done nothing to since we moved in. We park in our garage so we don't have a ton of stuff in there but there's some built in shelving someone put in that need to go as it's not a good use of the space. It really shouldn't cost too much but I need to clear everything out, tear out the shelving then get someone to put in drywall and paint. From there I'll get some heavy duty shelves to line one side of the wall so we can better park our cars. Edit - reading lynn's post made me realize that I also want to get a Hawaii trip in. It's something we've done almost every year we've been together but we didn't do one last year because we had our big trip. Europe early in the year didn't happen because of changes going on at work. Ended up doing a Europe trip on our own right after summer ended. It was a great trip and only makes me want to do another trip like that in 2020 but we've now done quite a bit of Europe and I don't know where I'd want to go. We also did a Hawaii trip for our anniversary and I'd like to do one for our anniversary next year. I did work to my garage but didn't go the route I discussed back in January. I tore out the built in shelving which made poor use of the space and put in new industrial shelving units while also getting a little work bench on wheels. It's made a huge difference in the space and I'm happy with the finished product. We replaced quite a few things in the last few months including our fridge, washer and dryer all of which make better use of space. Also put in recessed lighting in our kitchen, did drywall work and painted to brighten it up. I really don't have any bigger home projects I can think of for 2020. Knock on wood but I think my water heater has more than served its useful life and may be the next thing to go or require replacement. No kids yet which is why we'd like to do more traveling in 2020.

Looks like I accomplished everything. Most of it was travel though.
The backyard is still to be finished. We did get the shed and DH did some work on the remaining lawn portion. Columns need lights and the deck needs redone to include steps. We attempted to hire it out but no one was interested. Called around again in the fall and the one company was booked up again.
DH really doesn't want to do it himself but we are running out of options. Unless BIL gives up the guy J who works for him for a few days. That's the current plan but this year BIL whined that he had the guy booked solid. My brother is happy to help out so that's plan B for 2020.
We went to Jamaica and Orlando. Got the Myrtle Beach trip in. I did a why not cruise to the Bahamas in February at the last minute. I'd like to take DH on a cruise next year.
