It's now in the I Have A Beef With the Admins thread and it's lots of people.
So you can see my post even though I see that it's under quarantine?

This week I need to pack up my Stuff from the bedroom for the painters. DH will pack up his Stuff. That's all that's on my list but I'm dreading it. The good news is, since we're installing parquet, we DON'T have to remove the furniture. I'm VERY relieved about that. Once that's done, the only carpeting left will be the basement stairs. I'll shampoo that when I'm off this summer.

I've caught up on the current shredding. My other goal for this week is for it to not look like a bomb exploded when we leave for vacation.
In happy news, my brother came up yesterday and replaced our garbage disposal. I'm very happy about that!!
And hopefully I can get the mountain of clean laundry put away this week.
I should also return whichever size dress shoes don't fit DH. He doesn't like shopping unless he's in the mood and he's bad about trying stuff on. So I bought his tennis shoes size and the next one up.

Not very motivated. I did work outside a bit around the house. Trimmed a couple bushes. Cleaned leaves that want to gather in a couple places against the house. I swept the upstairs, cleaned boys bathroom. Kitchen - my goal was to work on cleaning out cabinets - I did one. It took 5 minutes but I didn't feel like doing any more. DS#2 plays soccer and has been asked to play on 2 teams. That is somewhat time consuming since both teams have 2 practices a week, plus games on weekend. He loves it though.

Hi Kids! For those of you who are Marie Kondo fans, she's supposed to be on the Hoda & Jenna show Tuesday. (Today Show) It's a Monday, and there's plenty to get done, so I'm off to try & accomplish something (at least my errands).

Happy my payday!!!! This weekend: ~Did 6 loads of laundry, including our sheets and shower curtain ~Stayed caught up with the dishes ~After unloading the dishwasher, I ran an empty load with a cup of vinegar in an attempt to clean it. Planning on buying a new one if my bonus is semi-decent next month. ~Restocked the camper, wiped down the interior, and pulled and washed the sheets. Here's to camping season! ~Read/skimmed through 5 magazines ~Read 2 newspapers worth of comics, clipped coupons ~Cleared out 6 hours or so of DVR programming
~**Exercised for the first time this year. Woot! ~Boiled eggs, processed produce, made a zucchini bread using up the rest of last year's zucchini and Christmas baking flour and sugar ~Towels, wash cloths, and TP have all been restocked in the master bathroom DH re-caulked our shower stall, repaired the downstairs tub faucet, put my new steering wheel cover on, cleared out the garden bed, installed a permanent foundation for my water fountain out front, repaired my ATV carburetor, and a bunch of other tasks. We make a good team!

I just spent an hour going through mom's stuff. Most of this stuff is falling apart, so I'm not offering it to sister. It's going in tonight's trash. End of discussion on these items. I did find some interesting (at least to me) things that I can't part with. I found the ash trays made of Firestone tires. I had thought mom had given those to cousins, and had bought one off eBay. Now I have 3. That's where dad worked in the office but came home with tire breath until his department was moved off site. I found recipes mom worked on when she was in grade 9. I'm keeping those. One is titled "The Story of Crisco". I also found a Disney World coloring book that has not been colored in. It's dated from 1966 and Disney World opened in 1965. Will have to check to see if it has any value to a Disney collector or if sister wants it back. She's a big Disney fan and might want it. Also went through the trash by my printer. Some needs shredded but some is trash. I found what the doctor wrote up when mom was deemed critically ill for us to get back money from trips that were happening right away and none of us took. He used the words critical condition of patient. I knew that at the time, but it's hard to see the words again. What the doctor wrote worked as all of us had travel insurance and got our money back. I know it wouldn't take as long if I didn't look at everything, but I didn't bulk toss so I can't do that.

Realized today that spring garage sales are coming up so I've started a box to contribute to Goodwill. There will be more than one box by 10 days from now.
Tomorrow is the day I hope to break down the boxes in the garage and call the handyman company to come get the stuff out of the basement and to the garage.

Thanks CCL . DS2 lives not far from there. We and DD are in the suburbs. Everyone is just heartbroken. It is so very sad. On a lighter note, seriousthistime and I met for coffee yesterday! We had a great time.

Yes, debthaven and I did have a great time over coffee! She’s the first person from the boards that I’ve met in real life. It was a highlight of the trip.
Then my DS, DIL, and I went out to dinner. While there we got a text from my other DS who is safely in the States, asking if we heard about the fire. We got back to the hotel and turned on the news. It was surreal to see ablaze the lovely place we’d visited two days prior. 😢

I have fond memories of my two visits to Notre Dame. It's been a long time, but it's shocking to see it on fire and to think of everything that the building has withstood.
It sounds like some of the artwork was saved.

Spring semester is over! I'm off till 3 May. I put in all my marks except for (May) finals. Then it will be the usual end-of-school-year craziness to earn as much as I can before summer.

I read in the paper about a local guy who takes used baseball equipment and uniforms to Puerto Rico so kids can play baseball.
I've had two baseball gloves in my garage for probably 30 years. I'm taking them to him tomorrow.

Over the weekend I started another box for clothing I am donating. It already is half full. The items box is rather full also. But there is room for more. I got about 95% of my winter wardrobe put away. I cleaned the kitchen floor -- it has been needing it for a while. I stripped the bed and changed out the sheets and blankets. All my laundry was folded and put away.

I got through one side of the garage boxes before my back started aching. Lucy's out there now as it looks so different.
There are a couple of things I uncovered that will be donated. They are too large to go in boxes so they are set aside until I can load the car for the Goodwill truck a week from Saturday.
I still have hope of selling things on eBay so I'm bringing the flattened boxes in the house.

It was surreal to see ablaze the lovely place we’d visited two days prior. 😢seriousthistime I'm SO glad you managed to visit it. It is so heartbreaking. I don't know if you people hear it there, but there is a lot of dissension here about how suddenly all these prominent, very rich families are donating MILLIONS to rebuild Notre Dame. Some people are saying "but why aren't they donating to poverty"? I'm guessing that *COULD* be because they don't get the front-page articles, nor the tax breaks, but that's just the cynic in me. But I'm NOT knocking them! Here on these boards we are always saying that people should save where they can in order to spend where they want to spend. IMO that goes for them too, even if they are super rich.
The other thing that's been going around here amongst people my age is ... yes thank goodness Notre Dame WILL be rebuilt! But how long will it actually take? And will we see it rebuilt in our lifetime? THAT is a very scary/unsettling thought, because nothing moves quickly here, so I'm guessing not.

TheOtherMe, I think that looking through items which are potentially emotionally loaded when not stressed, when not in acute painful mourning, and in a calm situation is the right thing to do.
Trashing by the box is IMO a very stupid thing to do, since there may be items which are misplaced, forgotten about but wanted, or rarely used which have been boxed up, for instance for a move or temporary storage.
As to the Disney coloring book, I think that researching its value first, and if low, offering it to your sis (birthday gift?) would be good. If the value would be high, I would tell the sister that I wanted it sold and the money split.

I got all of the sheets folded and put away. The seasonal kitchen linens have been put away as well. The other laundry was put away last night.
I need to set up a sheet to track RSVPs to the party. People cannot follow directions. I suppose I should just be happy they RSVPd.
The house is in decent shape for now.

I can't bring myself to trash by the box for the very reason you stated. I didn't remember the Firestone tire ash trays and I don't want them gone. One of the boxes in that room has the quilt my great great grandmother made. I can't take that of tossing that.
When we first went through these things, I couldn't deal with them, which is how they ended up in boxes. Now I can--most days.
I do plan to research the value of the Disney coloring book.
My own things that are in the basement were boxed up when I moved here. I can't just tell someone to trash that stuff either. I know of some things that are there, but I don't know where.

Baseball gloves have been delivered. Two bags of shredding has been dropped off and a savings account opened. I think I'm going to move most of my money to the bank in the town next to me as they pay more interest on savings than the credit union does.
