Iggy aka IG -- Have fun. Glad that you are making it easier by ordering. TheOtherMe-- Good news about the painter. Check out the library --one of best bargains in town. debthaven -- Hope bunny is continuing to improve. Good news on the oven and DH cooking to try it out. chiver78 -- good job on the freezer cleanup. Have a great trip. startsmart -- fingers crossed for good news soon I am pretty much up to date on the house items. There is always something to do but I am in the middle of the busy craft show season (4 or 5 shows before this time next month and at least 2 in December) and somethings will get pushed around until that is over. I am thinking about getting someone/service in to do a deep cleaning after the holidays. There are just somethings that I can't get done the way I think the pros can. I can usually keep up with the day by day straightening but I realize that there are now some things that I just can't do properly any longer. Today we are having a rainy day thanks to that activity in the gulf. Did not have plans to go out today so have managed to get several things done. Finished with two loads of laundry including changing the sheets, Roomba-ed the bedroom, started a crock pot of chili, updated several files, paid bills online, made pudding. Also in preparation for tomorrow I loaded most of the cases into the car as well as the table, made sure backup chargers and chip card read are fully loaded/charged, and packed snacks. Think I will take a nap as this reainy weather is perfect for one.

When my cleaners were here last week, the owner gave me a letter that listed the days they will be closed so they can enjoy the holidays and asking anyone who wants extra cleaning or wants to skip a cleaning because of kids being home from college, etc. to let her know ASAP.
She told me it was the first time she put in the letter that if she doesn't receive notice of a cancellation until the week of the holidays, they will be charged. She said it's always the same people who cancel at the last minute this time of year and it isn't fair to her or her employees that they don't get paid.
Like she told me since I am on the monthly schedule, none of the holiday closings apply to me and I'm not having a big dinner, so I won't ask for anything extra until the new year.
I think it's customary to tip the equivalent of one cleaning. Is that correct?

So it's time for a new list. I'm going to give my self until Christmas for this one. 1. Install closet organizer 2. Paint den (these 2 are left over from the last list) 3. Install new backsplash in kitchen. 4. Refinish my fridge with stainless steel contact paper. 5. Paint kitchen. (Not as big a job as it sounds, I have a small kitchen without much bare wall space) 6. Paint living room, entrance and hallway) 7. Paint my bedroom. 6 & 7 are the big jobs on this list. I have not made any progress on this list, and I'm booked next weekend too. I have to figure out when to do this stuff. I STILL need to get to this list...I am working on my bedroom this weekend. I have the next 3 weekends free and I'm going to keep it that way. Then I have 4 weekends before Christmas and 2 weeks off at Christmas.

LOL NastyWoman . It's actually for tomorrow's lunch, DH's band is rehearsing here and some of them are staying for lunch. Just spent another 2h responding to hysterical emails from students about the third wave of online assignments. This time everything is working, they really do NOT know how to follow instructions. I think it's customary to tip the equivalent of one cleaning. Is that correct?
That's basically what we do TheOtherMe . She gets 39 euros/cleaning. We give her 50 euros twice a year: once at Christmas, and once in August (for vacation). But since I'm in Europe, it would be better if the others chimed in too. This weekend (updated) - Class 2: 14 essays/Sat - doc appt/Sat - presentation marks/Sat - Class A: 19 online videos - Class B: 18 online videos - Ikea?

I have 3 things that are priorities this weekend.
1) Finish cleaning garage so SUV will fit inside - DH will still not be available to help me, but, it is supposed to snow next week - so I will just make decisions on what to keep/get rid of.
2) Work on filing in my office
3) Work on DH's Bookkeeping.
We have Trick or Treat this weekend. Officially it is Sunday from 4-6 but someone in the neighborhood always posts a sign that we are having "Neighborhood" Trick or Treat on a different day. They have Decreed The "Neighborhood Trick or Treat" to be Sat from 5-8. I have to give someone a ride at 6 pm, so I will not be home for most of it. Unfortunately, I already dumped all the candy I purchased into a big bowl.

Bean, thanks for the reminder! We need to get a pumpkin too. Here the anglo-saxons who trick or treat only do it on Halloween. But it's always during fall break, so there aren't many around. The "rule" around here is that if you have Halloween decor, people can ring your bell. So we always put a lit jack o'lantern on our gate post. But we live on a very small street ( 4 houses) so we never get many people. Sometimes we get none. I think our record was 13, years ago. But we do it when we're home, and we should be home this year. One of my favorite memories is when DS3 was 2.5 and DS2 was 12.5. DS2 dressed him up, snuck him out of the house, and they both rang the doorbell. I complimented them on their costumes and gave them tons of candy. A few months later, DS2 'fessed up. Like I hadn't recognized them or seen them sneak out of the house. DS2 was AMAZED that I knew it was them! LOL.
ETA: Fun fact ... a couple of years ago the local pick-your-own farm (which sells pumpkins) was advertising "jack off lanterns". I kid you not, DH has the photo to prove it! I'm encouraging him to put it on FB to encourage our local US/UK friends to buy their pumpkins there.

I got smart and bought candy at Costco this year for Halloween trick-or-treating, which is the day of. I got 120 candy bars and when they're gone I'll offer snack size bags of chips. Once they're gone, I shut off the lights. We literally get several hundred kids, although not all will stop at my home.
This is a good neighborhood for family traditions, including Halloween. It will be followed by the neighborhood holiday tree and menorah lighting in early December, a very big deal including refreshments and third graders dressed as elves. Santa will stop by your home if you make arrangements.

Our small town has it's trick or treating on Sunday for one hour. Not many children live on my street. It doesn't have street lights and didn't have sidewalks until 3 years ago.
The first year I lived here, I bought a bag of candy and got one kid. Now I don't buy any candy and don't turn on my light.

I have been taking a garbage bag of stuff to the thrift store at least once a week for awhile.
I took a bunch out of our closet, can walk in there but have so much more that needs to go. Very good shoes I can no longer wear, what a waste. I got rid of a bunch of clothes and also took summer ones down stairs. Have a pile in the truck to go to the dry cleaners.
I am trying to declutter before Thanksgiving, son and family is supposed to come, we will see if they do. But I want it clean anyway. I straightened in the basement, but there is always more to do. Went through 2 shelves and got rid of about 10 cans of staledated stuff. Found one from 2014! Wonder how I missed that?
I have a cleaning service coming to wash my outside windows, I have 20, he is doing in and out in the garage and doors. I'm going to see if I can get someone to clean the inside before the holiday, but hard to do out here.
Hubs and I want to wash down the garage walls inside. I need to paint DD's room and her bathroom, painted a lot of the house last year, also my office. The kitchen isn't real big and I need to wash the walls up above the cabinets above the stove, I can see grease up there.
It will be after the first of the year, but I'm hoping to get our new hardwood flooring in. Hubs said he can't get to it till then. We plan to do all but the guest bedroom, that carpet is good. DD's is too but she wants hardwood. I dread her room, just stacked with stuff. going to have to get her to agree to declutter especially the bottom and top of her closet, so I have my work but out for me.
Never ends.

Hell must be going to freeze over. I asked DD if I could get rid of stuff in her room, she said yes. I figured it would be the usual, no mom, not that, no not that. I said can I get rid of what I want to, she says yes, I says are you kidding, nope.
She went into the guest bedroom and I went into a frenzy!! I went through her dressers drawers, a huge book case with drawers at the bottom, hubs rescued from a jobsite, under her bed, in the closet. But about half way through I think she started getting nervous, so in she comes. But I managed 4 13 gallon trash bags of give away and 3 trash bags of trash. I could probably do it again. But her closet is decent now and the clutter is so much better. I also am telling her if there is all that junk in there, dad and I can't put in her new hardwood floors she is wanting later as we can't move all that stuff. Yeah, I'm mean, LOL!
Next are the coat closets and the guest room closet, not sure if there is anything to go but can neaten, I hate to get rid of coats.
And my kitchen pantry for staledated foods. I'm sure there are some in there.

Got started on getting things out of the way so the painter can come. Wish I knew the date so I would know how much of a hurry I'm in.
It's a good start. Now to figure out where to put the pictures that are on the walls. I was thinking the garage, but it's getting quite cold out there.

I may just end up taking the screens downstairs. I wanted to wash them all but its cold and I'm not sure when its going to warm again. I have some in the garage and some in the lawn shed. I don't want to get them ruined. I rescreened most of them a few years ago. But wasps have eaten through some again and I know they will need redone, there are 20. But I don't want to get the frames bent and ruined, they would not be cheap to replace. So I got my little area down there ready for them so just doing it. Likely tomorrow.

Wrap them in towels if they need padding/ protection

Thanks for the idea.

One book case has had everything removed. Now I need to vacuum the cat hair off.
Tomorrow I will tackle the second and last one. Then it will be okay if the painter is ready to paint.
I've taken small things off the walls in the kitchen and bathroom.
Lucy can't figure out what I'm doing. I've never moved with her so she doesn't know what is happening and will be more confused when strangers are in the house for a long day.

You'll be so happy to have it done TheO. This week - replace drawer front (DH)/Mon - bottle bank/Mon
- see A/Mon - pharmacy
- 2 online videos/? - doctor x 2/Wed Done with marking except for 2 videos (6 students messed up and didn't give me access, so I have to request it and wait for them to see my email and give me access.) Off till Thurs. No marking till the following week. I am really struggling with the amount of marking and "busy work" at Job 1. I want to give up an extra class in Sem 2, but I need to be careful: they are my main employer, my health insurance is through them, and I don't want to lose my professor classes. Looked at my bank accounts, never mind.
Dishwasher run and emptied, laundry done, folded and put away.

I have had a very productive morning. The bathrooms are clean Litter box clean Load of towels washed and dried I spatchcocked a chicken this morning. This was the first time I had used this technique for cooking and was quite pleased that my whole chicken was cooked in 45 minutes and was nice and moist Took 3 cups of my chicken and added veggies etc and made 10 individual chicken pot pies. Those have all been vacuum sealed and are in the freezer. I also have one pie crust left that I need to pop in the freezer for pumpkin pie later.
Swept the front porch but you can't tell the leaves are flying everywhere today. I am getting ready to head outside and do some work out there. It is gorgeous outside today and the sun and fresh air will be good for me.

This afternoon I raked the back deck and patio off. The leaves are dry so I just raked them onto the grass to be mowed up. By the time I got the mower out and to the back yard you couldn't tell that I had done them. Filled the lawn mower bag twice with dried leaves. Eventually I will catch up with the leaves. I do every year. Then I worked on pruning and training the new growth on my berries. That job is mostly done. Between the leaves and what I pruned off the berries both of my yard debris bins are full. I also ran the dishwasher again and emptied it. Emptied the waste baskets and took out the garbage from the kitchen. This evening I cooked some cauliflower to have this week with what is left of my chicken.

I took another load of things to Goodwill yesterday. I'd had some rolling around in the trunk of the car for several months. Added another big box to it too. But now I'm thinking about Christmas, and that I should do another big donation push before the end of the year. Maybe go through my clothes and shoes and get rid of some things I've collected the last couple of years that I no longer need.
My boyfriend organized my garage. He added another shelf and about 10 more rows of hooks and a peg board. Now all the tools that were in my tool box are on the peg board, and the yard stuff is all up on shelves and hooks. There are a few things still on the ground, but mainly that is stuff I probably shouldn't have in the garage anyway.

Goals for week of 10/27: Several held over from last week or new ones with same topics.
Crafts:
*Project -- Start a new beading project and continue to work on crochet project. *Update Etsy listings-- need to renew one or two *Add at least one item to the shop *Pack car for craft show -- Friday *Recharge back up charges and square device-- Friday
Commitments and Errands:
*Tutoring -- None scheduled as of yet -- usually have either 1 or 2 hours a week *Classes -- Wednesday and Thursday *Presentation -- Friday *Craft Show -- Saturday
Routine Home Items:
*Routine Appointment -- Today *Maintain the organized areas *Keep up with dishes, laundry and general cleaning *Organize at least two areas *Add several more items to donation box/ trash/library donation
A lot of these are in a holding pattern. This is the busy craft show season and it seems my friend and I have about one a week for the next few weeks. I enjoy the activity and any cash earned will pay for needed supplies. That way it doesn't come out of my normal budget. I don't make a lot after taxes and booth fees but as long as I cover those and pay for my meal at the event I am happy. Also it is a break in the normal routine that occurs the rest of the year.
Today I am stuck at home waiting for a routine workman -- 7 hour window of arrival. This limits any errands I may want to run but I do have chores to do at home so will attempt to get those done whole waiting and run the errands tomorrow.
I have already added several more books to the bag I take with me when I tutor. Those will be this week's donation to the library. I also have some additional bulletin board items to drop off at the school where I am doing a presentation on Friday. Slowly getting things to new homes as part of the decluttering is my major purpose. I want as much as possible to get things where they can be put to use. Also located a few more items going into the general donation box. Working on the third box and continuing to add items to it. Goal is to get it filled up asap so that I can get all of those items totally out of my possession and added to the count.
The weather has turned a little cooler so it feels better to just walk outside and do things. Lots of areas are still out of power from that visit from Olga on Friday night. Lots of branches down and several power lines as well. The storm was a lot worse than what was predicted but on the whole most came through ok.
Need to get off the computer and get my day started.

I got the shredding caught up over the weekend. I have more that needs to go in the shred pile. It wasn't as bad as I thought so I'm glad I forced myself to do it.
This is my first weekend home in a month so I hope to get some stuff done.
I found a place to donate my empty prescription bottles to. I'm pretty certain it's the same place my cousin donated to before she moved to Texas.
I've tried really hard in my decluttering to not just toss stuff in the trash even though it would certainly be the easier route. It's definitely more time consuming though.

I did not do anything on my to-do list for the weekend.
I unloaded/loaded the dishwasher, took some barware to the basement bar and Did laundry. I worked out, and got a mani-pedi. When I came home, DH asked me to uncover his Statues (he covers them for the winter, but I think he wants to seal them before winter). I uncovered them, then decided I needed to deadhead my roses. I am missing my better pruners. They are somewhere, I just am not sure where I stuck them when I was cleaning for company. The ones I was using, I really liked, but they are dull. I had one pair sharpened once at the hardware store, and it cost so much, I wondered if I would not be better off getting new ones periodically. DH then asked me to check the back yard for doggie dodo, and there were so many branches on the ground that I decided to rake. DH came around and said I did not tell you to rake, the mower will mulch it up...I was going to bag the leaves, he just picked up my piles and tossed them in the wetlands - which is fine as long as they don't blow back in the yard.
He commented to me that he thinks our big tree on the wetlands border is dead/dying. I suspect it was an ash. We lost another Ash in the wetlands. You are not supposed to remove or plant anything in the wetlands - but we would like to have trees in there to screen from the neighbors. What is growing in there is that buckthorn stuff, so we will try to plant something else on the QT. Republicans have pretty much eliminated the state DNR anyways, so not much chance of them doing anything about it. I will review what is native to the wetlands and try to choose something appropriate though, the ground is very wet, and it makes no sense to plant something that will die if the roots are too wet.
On Satuday, I told DH that I was going to work in the garage - he told me to leave it he will deal with it. It is his stuff, so if he goes through it, it would work much better. I did have a thought that I should sneak a few things in the garbage, so I saw two metal microwave racks and I ran them to the garbage. I need to just keep that up regularly. My Garbage had room, but the recycling cart was full due to the party. I started the workmen's comp audit and checked out an option for DH's accounting - I don't think we will use it personally, but it may be useful to us at work, so have to follow up on it. DD called and said she was coming home to pick up the dress she will wear to the Marine Ball next month. The seamstress that was working on it is the mother of a HS friend of DD's. The friend is getting Married in a week or so, and the shop will be closed for a week. DD decided since it was ready she better pick it up. So, after she picked it up we went to lunch, and DSW so she could find shoes. By the time I got home I had to leave to play taxi driver. It was pouring rain when I returned form my trip at about 6:30 pm, so the only trick or treater I got was the next door neighbor and his Mom. I had them come inside. We had hoped to get a few trick or treaters on Sunday, but no one came. I guess the neighborhood kids just went out in the rain.
I got DH's work comp audit paperwork in the mail - so I have that started, and I have my credit report stuff out - I need to pull my credit report - have not done that in quite awhile.
Congrats to Pat on getting so much done in your DD's room. Even my DD is the same way. She won't want to get rid of stuff, then she will decide to purge and I will have several bags of stuff. I don't do it myself though, she is of an age, where if her weight stays constant, she will only need to get rid of stuff that is worn or out of style, so I leave the decisions to her. Too much $$ invested there. Like you I am going to try to keep going a little at a time, day by day up until Thanksgiving.
