wow.
The devil is in the details including the signatories of all parties involved.
The week is just about up. And that is a very generous week since you first exclaimed it April 17th.with today being April 27th.

As Two Koreas Talk Peace, Trump’s Bargaining Chips Slip AwayWASHINGTON — President Trump lost no time hailing the historic nature of Friday’s meeting between the leaders of North and South Korea. But the gauzy images and vows of peace by Kim Jong-un and his counterpart from the South, Moon Jae-in, have complicated Mr. Trump’s task as he prepares for his own history-making encounter with Mr. Kim. While the two Korean leaders pledged to rid the heavily armed peninsula of nuclear weapons, they put no timeline on that process, nor did they set out a common definition of what a nuclear-free Korea would look like. Instead, they agreed to pursue a peace treaty this year that would formally end the Korean War after nearly seven decades of hostilities. The talk of peace is likely to weaken the two levers that Mr. Trump used to pressure Mr. Kim to come to the bargaining table. A resumption of regular diplomatic exchanges between the two Koreas, analysts said, will inevitably erode the crippling economic sanctions against the North, while Mr. Trump will find it hard to threaten military action against a country that is extending an olive branch. Complete article here: As Two Koreas Talk Peace, Trump’s Bargaining Chips Slip AwayBy the way "next week" is up.

The Korean Armistice Agreement (Korean: 한국휴전협정) is the armistice which brought about a complete cessation of hostilities of the Korean War. It was signed by U.S. Army Lieutenant General William Harrison, Jr. representing the United Nations Command (UNC), North Korean General Nam Il representing the Korean People's Army (KPA), and the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army (PVA). link Note that the United States is not a party to the Armistice. What would happen if North and South Korea were to work out a peace agreement, took it to the United Nations General Assembly, and it was accepted by that body?

President Donald Trump on Monday morning suggested that he'd like to hold his potential meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un near the border of North and South Korea. link Wonder if Kim would get President Trump to step into North Korea? Just asking!

And take him hostage.
Most Americans would reply "Keep him".

I think a significant piece from the article is this: Last week, Trump said the list of potential sites for a summit had been narrowed down to two countries.
... Officials have ruled out sites in China and the Korean Peninsula for the talks, determining they wouldn't appear neutral. President Trump couldn't leave it alone.

The 1979 Egypt–Israel Peace Treaty was signed by Sadat and Begin and witnessed by former President Jimmy Cater in Washington, D.C.
Begin and Sadat won the 1978 Nobel Peace Prize for the Camp David Accords. President Carter was not a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Can you hear President Trump saying, "What really matters is peace. Who gets credit isn't important."
Me neither.

I too keep hoping they go to the DMZ and NK kidnaps him. Few would care. No retaliation would happen.

Kim Jong Un agrees to meet Donald Trump at DMZ, source says Speaking to reporters Monday, Trump said he was enthusiastic about the idea of holding the summit in the DMZ. "There's something I like about it, because you're there, if things work out, there's a great celebration to be had on the site, not in a third party country," he said.

Third party country? I guess Trumpisms replace Bushisms.

Third party country? I guess Trumpisms replace Bushisms. Referring to a country that is a third party to the negotiations.

It's a tremendous opportunity to celebrate peace right on Korean soil. It's got great symbolic and historic value.

Unless there is a great deal of behind the scenes negotiations taking place right now, any celebration of quick agreement will be premature. Something to think about: The Camp David Accords were signed by Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin on 17 September 1978, following twelve days of secret negotiations at Camp David. Camp David Accords I don't see President Trump just showing up to sign a done deal nor hanging out long enough and being personally involved in the detail work.

Let us not forget the original title of this thread begun April 17: 'MAGA: Official End To Korean War Planned For Next Week'The clock is ticking. I'm quoting Tenn's post since the original title was changed. So the [allcaps][red font]END OF ALL HOSTILITIES AND TOTAL DENUCLEARIZATION OF THE KOREAN PENINSULA[/] was a month ago. But there seems to have been a hiccup. Any update, AgeOfEnlightenmentSCP?

LOOK!!!!!!! HILLARY CLINTONPaul's favorite squirrel It's not a squirrel. It's literally the EXACT thing Kim Jong Un is talking about when he expresses apprehension. FWIW I'm not pleased with the Bolton pick. Put the Bushies and the establishment to bed. You give yourself away. Why even mention Bolton? Easy question to answer. It is because Bolton is actually "the EXACT thing", not Clinton. Bolton, the man Trump has appointed to be his National Security Advisor.

AgeOfEnlightenmentSCP: Please edit out the disparaging name for Chairman Kim in Reply #114. The rules clearly state "Nicknames, even if in the public domain, will no longer be allowed". I'll have to remove the post otherwise. - Virgil (Mod)
