Blended family with a total of 9 kids by the time they moved out. Toys in our yard and roof, balls hitting our home, constant ringing of the doorbell, going into our backyard without permission, bb holes shot through our front window, etc. The woman called the cops on me for "gesturing" at her. The father got fired and they started feeding off the system. Their $337K home went into foreclosure for over a year and a half before they finally moved away. A few months prior to moving she showed up driving a brand new $65K Suburban. I had several friends who toured the house after it became vacant. Besides leaving it filthy, apparently they had allowed their small children to play in the crawl space under the house.

I let my chickens run amok. I would get pissed when neighbors cattle would get out and run through my yard (always right after a rain when the ground was mushy), but nobody calls me complaining about the chickens. Our neighbor has started keeping his cooped up, but I loved it when he let them free range in our yard... all the fun of having chickens as pets with none of the expense or hassle! DD still refers to them as "her" chickens.

My neighbors where I live now are great. I'm not friends with any of them as the two neighbors I was friends with have both sold their house and moved.
I did haive a problem with a young boy hitting baseballs with a metal bat last spring when I was recovering from surgery. I had to drag myself off the couch when I was still hurting a lot, go out on the deck and tell him to stop after three baseballs hit my house. Neighbor next door was on her deck for the same reason. He argued with me and said he was going to tell his dad. Well, he now hits plastic balls in the backyard.
I did have the neighbors from hell at my apartment before I moved here. They lived above me and people came and went all night because they were drug dealers. It was a constant battle. They smoked and would toss the butts over the deck right on to mine. They finally got evicted for not paying their rent. Problem was they had the power turned off. We got weather below zero and the pipes burst so I had to clean up after that. Complex managers dealt with damage to the walls, carpet, etc., but I had to deal with my stuff that got water. I am just glad I was home when it happened or there would have been a lot more damage to my stuff.

Every time I think about getting a cheaper place in town, I look out my windows, not seeing a house in three directions as far as I can see and wonder if it's worth it (to the East I have a 90 year old couple, but they're still about 1000+ feet away and my garage faces them). DH would like to move to a house where we own our own view. I am not sure if I would be comfortable living far enough away from the grocery store and restaurants to own a truly large plot of ground, but that is part of why we intermittently look at houses. I would like to compromise on something with around 5 acres and some trees or something to block the view, but still close to town. Right now we have neighbors across the street and a neighbor beside us. The neighbors across the street are retired and they work on their yard every single day. The grass is always mowed in a perfect checkerboard, there are beautiful flower beds, and everything is perfectly maintained. It is an immense amount of pressure for us and our scraggly grass... You don't have to be totally out there to be away from it all. I'm only 10-12 minutes from grocery stores and the hospital. But this is my front yard. (it's always storming now...apocalypse) It's actually taken out my bedroom window, so that's what I wake up to every day.

It never ceases to amaze me how inconsiderate people really are.

Also our backyard looks like a with all of the kids toys out there. Oh wow...I would be pissed if your kid was hopping my fence to get into my backyard. I have a pool and that is all I need is an unsupervised kid trespassing into my yard and drowning (or otherwise getting hurt on something else). I can't say I know the law but I would be pushing for the parents to be fined, much like I would be fined if I broke into someone's yard. I would definitely have a camera installed and I would be raising hell with the cops and you.

I live in a condo with left, right, and downstairs neighbors. I get along fine (or better) with them. The only time I hear anything is when my downstairs neighbor has her grandkids over. We are friends though and adore each others grands, so no problem there either. I got lucky and I know it...

I would think with that much land that you'd put a shovel attachment on an ATV. I've seen people do it here.

I just walked between the buildings. The clouds help so the heat isn't horrible, but it's still like drowning slowly with all the humidity. Yuck.

I don't actually shovel much of anything except a little behind the barn to get the animals out and that I've been making the teenager do that for the past few years.

If you're letting your children run around in other peoples backyards who don't have kids your kids are playing with, yes, you have a problem. Luckily, I don't mind being the problem. My other neighbor suggested that we buy as many playground type balls as we could and try to fill up the fence lady's lawn with balls. We were trying to calculate how many we would need to buy to fill it to the top of the fence.

One would think you would at least have some common courtesy and respect other people's stuff even if you don't respect your own. But then again, decency isn't a flower that grows in everybody's garden I guess.

We installed a system in our now (yay!) former home. Several times it recorded the teen-aged girl and the pre-teen boy making lewd gestures at the cameras when they came into our yard to retrieve whatever it was that day. Thankfully DH and I recognized we were becoming even more grouchier in our old age and moved to the country to 40+ acres.

I guess I don't think it's that big of a deal if a kid comes into my backyard to get a ball? If the kid is destroying property, sure I would be upset. But just going back there isn't a big deal. Of course our neighbors know we don't have a big dog or a pool. Having either of those might change my mind.
I'd rather the kid just go get it then bug me by ringing the doorbell. I guess that's just my introversion talking.

But I know that asshole parents who don't watch their kids would be the first to sue me if their kid drowned in my pool or got hurt doing something in my yard. So I don't mind and I would expect my neighbors to respect me or there is going to be hell to pay

I guess that's just my introversion talking. You don't find kids climbing your fence a big deal? You would if said children were to get hurt on your property. Even if they weren't invited, it is still your responsibility as a homeowner and you can be sued. I have a big problem with other people's kids being in my yard. If your ball goes over the fence, wait for me to come outside and ask me. I'll toss it back over. I'm not going to have legal troubles because you can't be bothered to watch your own children. Especially with me having two large dogs. These are a very large and protective breed. Why should they be put in a position where they could possibly get hurt or your children be in the same position because you're not doing your job as a parent? Not my kid. Keep them off my property. ETA: Plus I find a person's lack of respect for the things that I work hard for to be incredibly rude. And I took care of my kids who are now grown. I don't want to deal with other people's kids too.
