FB is going goofy with this question. What is the worst food eaten or served to you as a child?
I'll start. Chicken fried rabbit.

Goose. I hate it but my dad loved hunting so we ate it regularly.

There is nothing short of physical torture that would make me eat that. I have family members who love it.

There is nothing short of physical torture that would make me eat that. I have family members who love it. a buddy gave me a thin slice to try (as an adult). it was so gross I spit it out and then licked the cubicle fabric to get it off my tongue. then moved cubes.... I think I would have used a paper towel to get it off my tongue!

Oysters we would go get some at the beach then be forced to eat them. Oyster stew I would try to dish mine up without actual oysters hitting my bowl. Oysters on the half shell weren't as bad because you could swallow them whole but any way you cook them I am not every eating one again. Okra was pretty bad too but if you slice it and deep fry in breading it isn't half bad. I liked liver and onions, spinach and other foods many kids didn't but can't see ever trying oysters as an adult. I don't mind going to the beach to get oysters but I prefer not to even smell them cooking, ISO likes them raw.

When I was a kid? Dirt probably. maybe an ant? Is the question the thing I thought tasted the worst (sour cream), or the unhealthiest crap food my parents fed me (probably spaghettios).

you should enter my DW in this. "oyster eggs" schucked, raw oysters cooked into scrambled eggs. holy crap that sounds gross I like oysters, and eggs - but that sounds disgusting. Those do not go together!

So......I like okra, oysters, lima beans, brussels sprouts, salmon patties, etc. I think I like liver okay, but haven't had it in years and years. Fried chicken livers are definitely good though.
Am I weird?

Lima beans. Mom once served them for dinner. We kids loved them. We asked mom if she would cook some more right then and there. She did. After the second helping, we loathed them. Never ate them again.

My mom's meatloaf. Burned on the outside and practically raw in the middle and covered in burned ketchup. She hasn't made it in years, so maybe she's realized that it's not good.

Turtle doves that Dad shot and Mom cooked. Nobody could eat them.
Runner up is the homemade soup Mom made. It was greatły improved when she added BBQ sauce.

Baloney. Is that even a real food? Makes hot dogs look downright organic.

I liked the food served to me as a child....everything from head cheese to tongue to liver. What I DIDN'T like was anything with cooked tomatoes. Fish in tomato sauce and stuffed cabbage... That's when I cooked for myself.

I think it was supposed to be vegetable beef soup. Probably the main goal was to clean out the fridge. It was a mostly watery soup with very little seasoning. You're right., I've never heard of anyone else who put BBQ sauce in their soup.
Also nobody else had pancakes as the 2nd course to the horrible soup. Anytime I couldn't think if anything to make for dinner and suggested soup and pancakes, people have looked at me like I have 3 heads.

What is it? I never knew. headcheese is made from the brains of cattle or hogs..... No, it's made with flesh from the head, but never the brain. Head cheese or brawn is a cold cut that originated in Europe. A version pickled with vinegar is known as souse. Head cheese is not a dairy cheese, but a terrine or meat jelly made with flesh from the head of a calf or pig, or less commonly a sheep or cow, and often set in aspic. The parts of the head used vary, but the brain, eyes, and ears are usually removed. The tongue, and sometimes the feet and heart, may be included. It can also be made from quality trimmings from pork and veal, adding gelatin to the stock as a binder. -wiki

One of the most epic battles in our home before the divorce from the step monster was over apple salad. His concoction was diced apples, diced onions, & celery swimming in mayo. I wasn't going to be allowed to leave the table until I ate it. After 2 hours of sitting there (keep in mind, I'm 14 yrs old) in a Mexican standoff, the goal posts were moved & now I had to eat the whole bowl of apple crap. Another 2 hours go by, I haven't moved to take a single bite, not even fake moving it around the plate...I have to eat all of the apple crap & he'll make more if I don't eat it NOW. around midnight I took a helluva beating over it. but I never ate a single bite of his apple crap, I did end up wearing most of it thru the beating tho. (For the record, I HATE mayo. I would have eaten if it hadn't been swimming in mayo)
Less than 2 weeks later is when it was all finally over. But that night still goes down as an epic battle. While I'm sitting there not eating, my mom & the step monster were in a helluva fight. My brothers were forced to sit at the table the entire time too.
